Had the best time there last year with my dad. Adrian took us for roosters and got my dad his trophy rooster. Then diego sent us offshore for my first sail. Trip of a lifetime, glad you had a good trip! I’ll see ya on the water back in nc this fall.

Awesome stuff Elias! That tuna would've kick my butt...and the food at the end looked unbelievable. We
ve been to CR twice...beautiful country, and wonderful people. Our limited fishing time though wasn't very productive.
BTW...after one tuna trip in Jersey, yellowfins...when the mates were cleaning the fish, we'd ask him to cut some of the slivers of meat between the rib bones (like you see in 34th minute) that would normally be discarded. We had wasabi paste on hand and some soy and we just ate and ate as the fish were cleaned. THat was a great day.

Great stuff! I think after all us watching you MASTER your home environment catching trophy reds it is a little humbling (sometimes ALOT) going to a new place and taking what the fish gods give us. Beautiful place, glad to see you with your wife enjoying life. Fishing is hard, period. I could mark my best day ever on a calendar and go back next year to the exact same place and get nothing. My 1st thought on that big open water is SHARK! Glad it was not the case. Good job as usual.

Several companies make great two, three and even four piece travel rods. I started using them a couple of years ago and they’ve made traveling with rods a million times better.

Hey y’all need someone with expierences opinion. I plan on doing some albie bonito trips in august- October and occasionally they will catch small tuna. I’m talking yellowfin and bluefin in the 10-40lb range. What size spinning reel and braid can handle a school Tuna in the event I do hook one? I don’t wanna get spooled. I have a shimano Saragossa 5000 spooled with 30lb braid that I use for surf fishing but not sure that will cut it for a 20lb + tuna. I appreciate any feedback thank u.
4000 will land a tuna under 50lb.
