Would 2 peices of black tape on my toy lightsaber be enough fro tracking. And should i do 2 little dots or wrap a good 1 inch tape around the whole blade at the top and bottom?
This all looks different in DaVinci 17. The glow has different options etc 🤔
Yes I believe some of the options have changed. But can achieve the same result with a little experimentation

at 3:57 in the video what keys are you clicking to set the frame and then move forward?
Sorry forgot to say, its just the arrow keys. Left goes back one from, right goes forward one frame. So just moving a few frames at a time

Not sure what version you are using , but 17 isn’t the same. First off every time I publish, it locks up the program and I have to reboot it. Second even though I created 2 trackers when I go to publish it only shows one on the list even though I am clicked on 2. Then there are a number of choices to publish to which you didn’t have. Maybe the ones I am choosing are causing it to lock up?
I was on DR 16. Tbh I haven't tried it in the DR17 to see if much has changed. I will look to do an updated one
This was sick, made a sweet light saber for a music video I'm making, do you know what I'd have to do if I have a scene with two light sabers? Like a dueling scene?
That makes things much more complicated! You could track where possible, but would likely have to do a lot of manual positioning!
There is another option where you use green or blue coloured props, and then you can chroma key them to save any positioning at all.
I will look to do a tutorial on that method

I ran into a bit of a problem which I fixed, that being that it twisted the shape of my saber into an S shape when it tracked the points. I twisted the polygon shape at the start before tracking and it fixed, but I'm pretty sure my error was not meant to happen.
How did you put the tracking points on at the begining

How do you get both of the windows 1 for the saber and the other for you’re video
There is a square box at the top of your window to click and open/Close the 2nd window
if the hilt and tip of my lightsaber are different widths, how do I adjust the width of the individual ends of the polygon mask?
Great point. You would have to use a 4 point poly. So you can vary the distances at each end
in the 1:25 coin on which I press to put the glow effect
drag the glo effect and click it on to the polygon

does it work on fast moving object?
Not great. With fast moving object you would be better following with a 4 point mask, then you could increase the size of the mask to create sort of light blur as it follows the sabre.
why when i go for next frame i lost the drawings on next frame
how would i add lasers that im deflecting?
In a very similar way. Use a background for the colour of your lasers. Use a mask that you will animate for the movement.
Its a good idea, I might do another tutorial with me deflecting some lasers
I had to stop washing this because all that noise in the back its hard to concentrate.

are you using the correct glow node?
There are 2 options when using glow

Using the glow and the soft glow?
Is the lightsaber showing, just not glowing?
@@davidharrison5127 what are the two options? I have this kind of problem as well, that if I click on the little "glow" rectangle, things come up in the inspector
