10:12 the Sports wagon was put into production with the same body kit. But it was fitted with the standard 16 inch alloy wheels of the sedan, auto transmission, standard interior, not lowered. I actually saw one today when I was driving my Sports sedan (sedan is without the body kit, more common VRX with body kit). Yes I agree the exhaust resonance is ABSOLUTLEY insane! I'd love to own your Ralliart, but I live in Tasmania, a long way away.

Congratulations Sean! Great to see her on the road. I bought my Ralliart new and the RRP was $48,990 plus the sunroof which was about $2k. So it was a $50k+ car in 2002! Definitely overpriced, but I have no regrets. I still own mine and love driving it on weekends. Well done Sean, good to see it passed. A few days ago, I treated the Throttle Body & MAF sensor to a proper clean. As most know, our fuel in this country is rated 71st worst quality in the world. Yes folks, this is fact. All fuels are identical, it is only the octane rating that differs. Our cars need to be tuned to take advantage of octane so use what the manufacturer specifies as anything more is a waste. Sean, make sure you rotate the RE003's every few thousand kms. They are a soft compound to start with, so they will wear a little quicker, but with front wheel drive, they tend to push a little sideways, regardless of driving technique. I also suggest anybody using a low profile or performance tyre inflates them to 38psi when COLD. Tyres gain 4 psi after they have warmed up, making 42psi which seems to be the ideal psi. I have based this on my last 20 years of buying tyres for various model XR8 sedans and my wifes preference of Subaru Impreza's (sadly n/a engines). Bridgestone, Hankook, Continentals, Pirelli and my go to tyre, Falken Azenis 510, a japanese made tyre from the Sumitomo Co who also make Dunlop. The Subaru has RE003's which are awesome, but I found the weight of the XR8 played a roll in their shorter lifespan. Have you considered a closed door respray? I have seen some excellent results on 20+ year old cars from reputable operators, around $3-4000. Considering the rarity of these Ralliart's, there is no reason these will not be a genuine collectable. Recent times have shown many non turbo or AWD cars are highly desireable and now the used market has calmed a little, the next 5 years will be interesting for those who own older cars. All the best, regards Cameron.

You're incorrect about fuel octane and qaulity. 91 has more sulphur in it than 95 and 98 octane and of course companies put more additives in for 98.
But obviously you know so much better than the expert's, you just sound like the typical tight arse justifying using the dirtier fuel with your car that smells like rotton egg from the higher sulphur fuel.

You need to have your local exhaust guy work up a set of tuned-length extractors for this thing, really make it howl! Those 6G engines CAN sound tough as nuts. I wonder if Kelford do a set of mild cams for them? I know the Ralliart engines had slightly better factory cams in them, but going another step further could only be a big win.

It's probably the best Magna ever designed, a Supercharged one preferably.
      They had about 250kw & 450nm.
But the reason is because the interior was completely overhauled & top notch in comparison to lesser model's.
Auto model's are great too if you prefer, there was much revisions to the auto transmission for the power increase & the traction & trace control system worked much better on this car.

G'day Sean! Fantastic work getting the Magna roadworthy. It looks so clean inside! I'm so bloody keen to see the exterior all painted and back to its former glory. With the window adjusted and the drone sorted out, you've got yourself an A1 condition piece of Australian motoring history. Old mate at the RWC centre was on the ball. Never sell this thing if you can avoid it.
Also, you're doing an amazing job with your channel and its content. You've got to remember, what you're putting out is free to the public and people don't quite appreciate how much time and effort goes into each RUclips video uploaded by smaller creators like yourself. So you'll get haters and people who reckon their way is the only way to go. I know it can be hard at times, but you've just gotta ignore them. They're hating on the channel, not you, so remember that. While your perception of the channel may be that it's an extension of yourself, other people aren't viewing it like that, and they're not hating on you as a person. And if they are, well they don't deserve anyone's time, much less yours.
Top notch stuff as always mate, very keen to see more come of it. Hope you're doing well :)

The TJ was probably the peak of the Magnas. The front end just had a subtle hint of aggression, then they totally stuffed it with the TL/TW. It continued to get worse with the 380. I really think Mitsubishi Aust missed the bus with the 380. Apart from its blandness, it was a sedan only. Everyone knows MMA could do a good wagon, even with 4wd, just when everyone was going towards SUV/soft roaders. If they had done a slightly raised 4wd wagon version if the 380, it could have sold well. If they went further with a diesel V6 4wd/AWD version, and given it the Luxo treatment, it would have been a serious competitor for the likes of VW Passat 4-motion/Audi Quattro wagons for about 20 to 30k less. Ford’s Territory was petrol only and Holden had the horrendous Adventra with a fuel guzzling V8. Had MMA made that car, its main competitors would be the VW/Audi at quite a price premium, actually MMA could have created a whole new market segment, all for itself.

My mum drive VT/VX Commodores and Magnas for work back then and even when new the Magnas felt far more solid than the Commodores.

Congrats on getting the Ralliart passed for rego and taking us for a drive. How does the steering feel ? Only asking because I once bought a 2001 Magna sedan 90,000kms on the clock ( stock standard automatic in white ) and the steering was so light and hardly any road feel. Daily driver is a BA Falcon these days, alas it's lpg and petrol. Great channel Sean, keep at it !

Amazing review Sean, thanks for sharing your Ralliart Magna.
Can't wait till you fix the paint work.
Sean the Mitsubishi Magna wagon Sport was released as an amazing car.
It's not even limited edition, it was part of the production line up.
    It's the TJ Sports wagon.
The Ralliart Magna was amazing in terms of it's throttle response, it's power to weight despite the engine being an extremely simple NA V6, it's standard features, it's build quality, it's Aerodynamics, the handling, the sound & it's fuel economy.
It can't beat a XR6 Turbo in a straight line as that's got forced induction, but if you were to line up a Supercharged version of the Ralliart Magna against a XR6 Turbo.
Think you'll find that the Ralliart Magna would be quicker as they gave the car about 250kw & would be 200kg lighter than a XR6 Turbo.
But your car would beat the XR6 Turbo in the corners.

G'day Sean, best way to deal with the raspiness around 2.5-3k is to use a decent centre muffler > hotdog > big rear muffler. But the centre muffler is key. Also awesome car, great to see a few of these grand old things live on. A few mods in the right places and that 5sp really make them come alive.

Hi Sean. Great work with the Magna. I owned a TH 3.5V6 Advance for 10 years (fabulous car). I also worked at a Mitsubishi Dealership selling TJ's and TL's and also the AWD's. During the launch of the AWD at Mount Cotton, we were taken for rides in a Ralliart by some very talented V8 Supercar drivers - awesome. Anyhow, when I was at Mitsubishi, I copied the Factory Workshop Manual CD for the TH, TJ, Ralliart, TL and AWD. The file is 150MB so I cannot send it to you via email/Messenger so if you want to send me your address, I am happy to send you a copy. Happy to help another Magna fan - very underrated car. Cheers

As for the wind noise around the windows. I remember working on these in the dealership and there were like 20+ different adjustments that can be made in the tilt, pitch, angle, grade and steepness if the window glass. But most of the time a full side rubber seal kit which replaces the entire rubber seal along the whole side of the car would do the trick without diving down the window adjustment rabbit hole.
