15:51 Just like Elena in Uncharted 1! We’ve come full circle… (Great Circle?😂) First Uncharted is made as a spiritual successor to Indy, now Indiana Jones is following after Uncharted! 🤙🏼
All the awful Borderlands stuff recently actually made me pick up 2 again because its so nostalgic. I REALLY liked how 3 played but the story just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I'm willing to give 4 a chance but honestly, I doubt they're gonna ever capture the magic of 2 ever again.
The classes from the 3 didn’t hit like 1 and 2. Really hope they go back to borderlands 2 classes but more flushed out; as well as some DLC classes, and a good story/writing.
@jessegarciaiv5380 See, I actually felt like the classes from 3 felt the most powerful and interesting of all the classes in the franchise. I didn't need to look up guides online to check which skills in the tree were objectively terrible, lol. The operator is pure madness to play, and his unhinged dialogue made me smile. Bro was just getting up to post retirement shenanigans and having fun.
Reanimal strikes me as the natural evolution of "Dark Sidescrollers" that started with 'Heart of Darkness' & "Abes Odyssey' and continued with 'Limbo' & 'Inside' with what we now have with the 'Little Nightmares' series. Environmental puzzles in fantastic locations coupled with BRUTAL deaths for the main character.
It was a really nice experience meeting you yesterday! And because I was only there for the Podcast and meeting you; thanks for catching me up with actual Gamescom content. (videosforever) :) Have a great time in Germany!
@JakeBaldino Jake: you hyped up the phenomenal Mafia Definitive Edition, and then never mentioned the game again. Do you really like the franchise, or are you just a typical YTer in 2024...
Taking my break in my car? Late at night? Have chick fila AND there is a 20 minute Jake video? Yeeeeesah boi!! Life’s good right now. At least for the next 20 minutes.
Loved the first Dying Light. I remember getting to the main city in DL2 and just never picked up the game again after that play session. Excited to hear the new DL is going to be smaller in scope and more focused
Indy game looks fucking incredible. I honestly never thought I’d see a Indy game realized this well. I was skeptical and disappointed when I originally heard it was first person. After figuring out it was Machine Games I got more hopeful. Now after seeing the gameplay though; I’m more than sold, it just looks perfect and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.
It's always fun seeing stuff out of these events. I can't believe I met you outside of E3 going on NINE YEARS now. Still love what you're doing here. I think the thing I'm looking forward to most is either Revenge of the Savage Planet or Atomfall
Thanks for making cozy, relaxed video game videos. Feels like hanging out in high school and talking games with my friends before everyone either went full try hard or outgrew gaming.
16:55 Same. Now that we got a look at some more gameplay, it still looks cool, and I'm glad that some sequences transition to 3rd person. Climbing in first person would be difficult, lol. Can't wait for more on that game. It's the closest we've come to a new Uncharted game in a long time (almost a decade; 8 years!).
Pairing the archeologist with a journalist.. where have we seen that before?! Looking at you Elena 😂 the way Jake was describing Indy honestly made it sound like a first person uncharted lol I’m here for it
that batman VR game really looks to have figured out some cool new ideas for VR action games that I think have been needed. As a long time vr gamer who regularly puts in a few hours each week, I've started to realize that 1 to 1 representing the players hands in game isn't really needed. Just keep it close enough and you can get away with way more canned animations that look 10000000% better than janky vr shit thats in most games. And I do like 1 to 1 for some things, but a stealth action game needs cooler animations than a player can do in their room with a computer on their face, and it really looks like they are bridging that gap of using some canned animations based on player input, it looks fantastic.
Ryozo Tsujimoto and Mondter Hunter Wilds delivered! That trailer was better than anything I expected. And we've been getting a lot of info from two streams, a third tomorrow, and people getting to demo the game and figure the weapons out. I love the Borderlands series, even 3 and Tiny Tina's. I'll be surprised if 4 turns out that everyone hates it like with 3.
We need your Alien Romulus Review! I personally really enjoyed it. The cinematography and effects where just stunning and i also really liked David Jonsson as the Android. Great Performance!
I'm personally really excited about Mafia the Old Country, Jake. I recently started playing the Mafia Trilogy due to you always talking about it, and man, Mafia 1 is QUALITY. Loving every second of it. To get a new one announced with all that's possible with today's hardware is just too good. Also, you should do more Jetlagged update videos. This was hilarious. (In all the best ways.) 😂
Civ VII talking points: I think it’s an interesting mechanic to play as a different civilization each age of the game. In a way it makes sense, America was never around during ancient Civs like Greece, Egypt, Rome etc… So maybe they could have playable accurate factions for each age? Why would ancient Egypt be playable during the space age? Why would Great Britain be playable during the ancient age? Would be cool if they made the civilizations timeline accurate…? Not Ben Franklin alive during the Bronze Age. Idk. Thoughts? :)
From what I heard with Dying Light - this was intended to be a DLC but became its own thing. Techland are working on a seperate IP as well. Can't pin point where I read this but it sounds accurate and I'd say this theory is legit (still, take it with a grain of salt as per usual)
I find it funny that Tarsier stepped away from LN, then decided to just make something super similar but raise the bar by making it seemingly darker and announcing that Reanimal will have local co-op. I feel kinda bad being immediately more excited for this one than LN3. As a Little Nightmares fan though, both look great. If I get two games in the same vein a year or so apart, I will be extremely happy.
So excited for Mafia The Old Country. Replayed Mafia remake and Mafia 2 early this year and was following all the rumours heavily. The setting sounds great.
As an avid player of their Wolfenstein series I'm pretty excited for the stealth to chaos progression in the Indiana Jones game. They did it pretty well in the past, and I hope they've improved it for this!
I know Silent Hill 2 remake was not a part of Gamescom, but I was expecting to see what you think of their last trailer and gameplay from other media outlets
I’ve been playing through the Arkham games again lately and it’s just making me all the more bummed about where they’ve taken the series. Truly one of my favorite set of games from my youth.
Not sure if Borderlands 4 is going multiversal, or if it’s just a bad teleporting thing. I’m not saying it would fix the movie, but if they’re going to do the multiverse thing they might try to pass off the drastic differences in the movie characters. Old Phoenix, short Roland, etc.
Stopped playing Dying Light 2 after a game breaking bug, an easily replicated one at that from literally just joining someone's game who was ahead of you in progress that gave you tools your own game didn't have yet, prevented me from upgrading my tools... after investing 40 hours into the game to which the devs never bothered fixing. Zero interest replaying it.
Hey now, Jake! I know it Gamescom, I've seen some interesting games for sure. I want to try to call your attention to Tactical Breach Wizards that released on Steam today. It was one of my favorite demos from NextFest. It's the first game I have bought at launch in a decade or more. I just want this game to get the love it deserves! I hope you check it out, and dev Tom Francis has a great devlog on YT. Thanks for the news!
the new Dying Light, Mafia, and Indiana Jones games have me excited. I went back to look at Machine Games, which brought me back to Starbreeze. And it makes me wish we'd get a Darkness 1 remaster. or the Darkness 3
I’m really excited for this Indy game. It worries me a bit that it’s more of a blend of different types of games but I’m optimistic. As long as it makes me feel like Indy then it has my stamp of approval
If Borderlands actually switched to serious sci-fi with some humor sprinkled on top, I would actually consider playing it. Also super excited for both Little Nightmare 3 and next Tarsier project, love thier depraved little horror adventures.
Machine games/Starbreeze storytelling has always been fun B-Movie action, with heart. I fucking loved 'The Darkness', and 'Wolfenstein Old Blood' was so fun. I'm curious what story is told here. Obviously another Indy story, but I'm curious if they push the characters a little more, a little more grit. Obviously I don't wanna see people getting their throat slit, or crazy brutal deaths, but I wanna see their style mixed with the IP
2 underrated games mentioned, Chronicles of riddick and Battlefield 1, man I’m so butthurt over how much hate BF1 got when it was the new game and now people want to praise it
Borderlands will always live in my heart. I’m looking forward to 4! 3 wasn’t as good as 2, not even, but I love BL! Little Nightmares III AND a LN spiritual successor 😱 let’s goooooo!

Us the title "everything cool from Gamescom 2024" and then not even mentioning KCD2? Tststs.
Hey Jake, did you ever play the game WET? If so, did you like it enough to want a remake/remaster? Can you mention it in a vid if possible one day?
“Once again you’re playing as a little freak, walking around” Jake I play video games to escape reality not simulate my own
🤣🤣🤣

😂😂😂😂😂
‘This mattress is so great it gave me nightmares.’
Jake, don’t ever change.
KCD 2 deserves a mention, so here it is :)
It’s the best medieval game ever made, so yeah
The Chronicles of Riddick game was so underrated.
Agreed and why TF is it not backwards compatible!?!?!
I remember having it as a kid and having a lot of fun with it.
First great movie tie in IMHO
One of my favourite games
Best ad ever. "This mattress is so good that it'll give you nightmares"
15:51 Just like Elena in Uncharted 1! We’ve come full circle… (Great Circle?😂) First Uncharted is made as a spiritual successor to Indy, now Indiana Jones is following after Uncharted! 🤙🏼
yet better, because it's first-person
@@xman777bThings can both be great without being better than the other, you know.
I'm going to play both, but man Reanimal looks more like Little Nightmares than Little Nightmares 3.
If Indiana Jones is anything like the old King Kong game it will be insanely good
will be wayy better. The 2 games don't resemble each other anyway.
After new tales from the borderlands, I lost all faith in borderlands ever telling a good story again. Borderlands 2 is truly a gem.
Borderlands would be one of my favorite franchises if their stories didn’t suck ass and had unbearable dialogue.

Lighting in a bottle I fear 🥲

I so wish there was a Heart of Darkness remake, I remember renting this over the weekend when it came out and I absolutely loved it
Damn we haven’t seen Abe for decades!
Big J Staying Busy Abroad Baldino. Good to see you Jake. Hope you’re having fun out there. Thanks for the goods as usual.
Jake discovered the word 'curated' at gamescom😂
It was a really nice experience meeting you yesterday! And because I was only there for the Podcast and meeting you; thanks for catching me up with actual Gamescom content. (videosforever) :)

techlands pivot to a shorter more linear experience sounds like a really smart business move. I think we will start to see A LOT more of this in 2025
