Hi I have a 99 suburban 6.5td. When i shift to reverse it takes a second before it engage. It is much harder/noticeable when the engine is hot. Do you think its the oilpump in the transfercase or what's your thought? Is there any way to save the transfercase?
It was a vibration that increased with the speed of the truck. My problem was a failing U-joint just behind the transmission. Get under the truck and try to move the u-joint and drive shaft around by hand. If it moves up/down or side to side at all then it needs replacing. There are 4 u-joints if you have a 4wd so check them all but it's usually the long drive shaft between the transfer case and the rear differential. There is a u-joint on each end. Check for leaks around the transfer case and the amount of oil if you can. Good luck.
I sent the truck to the junk yard 5 months ago. The frame rusted and broke apart. The vibration was a failing U-joint which I did replace but that was wasted money in the end. Rust is my mortal enemy now.
Dude your all wrong the the vent hole on top is just so it drains faster not so it drains and your supposed to use auto travel 11 fluid not atf bro do research stop making videos on shit you don’t know
hiddengrousefarm I have a 99 and it doesn’t say shit about that fluid there’s actual people that can’t afford to take there shit to the shop so they rely on these videos but people could do even more damage watching bullshit like this and two quarts wtf just do us a favor and don’t post videos
@@johnniesmith6416 Here is a link to the owner's manual. Page 7-26 (402 in the pdf) shows the fluid for the transfer case. I have a manual transfer case so my fluid is Dexron III or IV. The fluid for the automatic transfer case is different. As I'm sure many people have told you - READ THE MANUAL. www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiv4KzhnM7fAhXF7IMKHSOxBPQQFjAAegQIChAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fmy.chevrolet.com%2Fcontent%2Fdam%2Fgmownercenter%2Fgmna%2Fdynamic%2Fmanuals%2F1999%2Fchevrolet%2Fsilverado_1500%2F1999_chevrolet_silverado_owners.pdf&usg=AOvVaw20XVxZnezDMMPbgXanq8-6
LOL. I own hard copies of the actual shop manuals including the complete manual for the transmission which is about 5 inches thick, SO.... since I'm planning on changing the fluid this weekend I'll go take a look at what the official GMC/Chevrolet shop manual has to say about it, at least for the 1997 model. @hiddengrousefarm Is your 1999 the gmt-400 or gmt-800 model truck since 1999 was a year where they sold both platforms?

Transmission Shift Solenoid
thats your tranny bro
So, how do you tell if you have an Auto-Trak II case or not?
Apparently it's supposed to use more of a 75w-90 gear type oil.
I don't know about that stuff. Sorry about that.
Auto Trak II uses AC Delco blue fluid #10-4017. Anything else will not be good for the transfer case and will lead to sooner failure👍🏼
@H P thanks 👍
Would a slight hum or whine be a cause of low fluid? No whine when still. Only when moving. Thx
YUP!!!
Can you explain the vibration, im having vibration too

Hello, whats that part number for the fluid pump? Thanks.....
I don't have that but these are common at any auto parts store.
How's it holding up?

hiddengrousefarm 😕
Should have welded... Body looked good
The vibration you felt was likely the bushing extension housing is bad that's why the seal is leaking
I bought Lucas gear oil for mine that’s what it called for
For the transfer case fluid?
You called your ratchet a wrench

The Dexron ATF is listed in the manual as the proper fluid for the transfer case. I'm not your bro and maybe you should do some research. bye.

Also, that top hole is the right place to fill the transfer case. Where do you think the fluid goes into the case? Make a video and show it.
