Question: I have a non working go7 board. I’ve replaced the caps and flyback. Should the anode of the flyback arc to ground if I just apply the a/c power to the board without hooking anything else up to it? I don’t have the Pac-Man machine handy I only have the board at the moment but the anode / suction cup is not arcing when on I power the board up.
Great work. I'm currently working on my own Ms. Pac-Man. I was going to pull out the whole monitor but maybe I'll just pull the board like this. Question: when you are checking for residual charge, you keep the machine unplugged, right? Or is it plugged in but off? Thanks.
If you don't need to pull the monitor, don't I would say. It may be more of a pain, but the CRT is out of harms way for the most part. And YES, the machine is unplugged when dissipating any residual charge(s). Make sure you're grounding to the monitor chassis itself. If unclear, please do tons more research so you keep yourself safe. Good luck, G.
Do you have an email that I could have? I have a Midway Ms. Pacman that I'm having issues with however I have a few questions that you didn't hit on when it came to the monitor.
I do not Brian. You can shoot your questions here, but keep in mind I am no expert by any means. But, your questions may be picked up by those that are. G.
A flow chart I found on the web years ago Randy. Was that yours? If so, GREAT JOB!!! It certainly helped me identify, or narrow down, the problem I was having. Take care, G.
A TV alignment tool set. This is not my set, but a link to something similar. Good luck, G. www.amazon.com/Philmore-Anti-Static-Alignment-Trimmer-63-910/dp/B01MXZGEXT/ref=sr_1_24?crid=2WS9HIIG9C9K5&keywords=tv+alignment+tool+kit&qid=1680081694&sprefix=tv+ali%2Caps%2C161&sr=8-24
Wow, that was amazing. Great Work! Thought I would try to fix my Ms Pac Mac Monitor. After watching, i think I better opt for a pro or a full monitor replacement to a LCD.
Great video!!! I have this same monitor. Has vertical collapse. I have reflowed, recapped, change the D1138/Sd401... Still happening. Other suggestions?
If the orientation of the monitor is like as shown in the video- Ms. Pacman, Galaga, etc. Vertical is horizontal and Horizontal is vertical as far as adjustments. If yours is in this orientation, it sounds to me you need to adjust the horizontal width coil. Hope this helps, G.
Being Broken doesn't necessarily mean bad. But, replacing it is the next logical step. Find the spot in the video where I talk about the ferrite core in the coil. I believe it's towards the end. The replacement I used had one that was shorter and I couldn't fill up the screen. I put the old core in the new coil and it solved my problems. Hope this helps. Keep me posted and be very careful. G.
Thanks a million for this. I seem to have the exact same issue. I didn’t know about the big capacitor holding a charge. I just did the same grounding technique & got a huge, loud spark & this is after I probed the fuse last night. I ‘m glad I was expecting it after watching your video or I might have had a heart attack.
Great Video! I have a G07 that Arch/sparks a little after i changed the FBT a couple of years ago, It has just been stored away and I assumed it was a faulty part.. Maybe my gap is to tight aswell and the FBT is all good! 👍
Bill- I'm really rusty so do your homework and take my words with a big grain of salt. The B+ voltage is DC voltage. The outlet from the wall is let's say it 110-120 AC. The power supply in the game converts that AC voltage and conditions it to DC voltage- then it feeds that to the monitor. I could be totally off base so again do your homework, G.
Thanks Loyd! Mine are her, and Galaga. My Galaga is in the house but I don't have space inside for her. I'm in a 1 car shop so space is at a premium. I need a bigger shop so I can have a game area. After fixing her, I'm really torn now.Take care, G.
What I heard was gone after what I did to correct what I heard and saw. It works, but if you have a suggestion to make things better- let me know. Take care, G.
This is an AWSOME video. I appreciate the detail you went into. Thanks
Good deal! G.
Well done!!! I enjoyed this!
Thanks Dru. Glad you liked it. Take care, G.
That MUST have been painful to get shocked that hard.
It was Taylor. Be careful, G.

I can't say and don't want to speculate as it could be harmful. Be safe, G.

Jumped like a sum beach when it sparked! 🤣🤣🤣
You and me both!!! Be safe and take care, G.
If you haven't worked on a G07 monitor before pay very close attention to 5:31. I too have learned that lesson the hard way.
Very true Billy. A hard lesson to learn! It hurts for sure. Take care, G.
Morning. Where do u take it for repair? It's showing nothing just a red light showing electricity.
I can't say. I'd look for someone in your area that might work on this stuff. I just work on my own. Good luck, G.
Hmmm . . . What do I see at 11:10?

what tool did you use to adjust the 4 potentiometers with?
A TV alignment tool set. This is not my set, but a link to something similar. Good luck, G.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, if you're not comfortable doing this type of stuff- I think a pro or an LCD would be a wise choice. Good luck, G.

ghostses I think you're dead on. Coil appeared ok but upon further inspection was broken. Ordering new part. Shall see. Thnx

No problem! Glad you watched first and didn't get bit like I did. Be safe and good luck with your project. Take care, G.

It's definitely worth looking into and a simple fix. Good luck, G.
GHOSTSES, Why does an arcade monitor have a B+ voltage for what reasons?

It has to be said.....what an awesome education....wow....please keep your vids coming.
Thanks Rich! Good to hear from you. G.
Don't take it apart, it's a classic! that's my favorite game of all time. Great job repairing it! You need a game area in your shop ;)
Thanks Loyd! Mine are her, and Galaga. My Galaga is in the house but I don't have space inside for her. I'm in a 1 car shop so space is at a premium. I need a bigger shop so I can have a game area. After fixing her, I'm really torn now.Take care, G.
Awesome! How’s the harbor freight cement mixer holding up?
Thanks Dan! It's not seen much use, but still works. My intended projects for it kept getting pushed back, and still are...lol.
Awesome video G.
Thanks Rodney! Take care, G.
I don’t like the sound that chassis is making I mean I know about HV electricity high sound but that’s making a very very Loud HV electricity sound
