- Un morceau magnifique en trois parties tiré du disque "In Praise of Learning" et composé par Tim Hodgkinson. Le son n'est pas excellent, le violon a été étouffé, mais la prestation reste historique.
fantastic tune, fantastic band...I saw saw them live several times here in Milan when I was a young kid and will never forget these concerts...
Thank you so much, BernardMontmartre! Without a doubt my favorite track by Henry Cow. Perfection from start to finish. Amazing that the band was able to perform this musical jigsaw puzzle live! What a great band they were!
This is the one group that LEAST needs to re-unite, as just about everyone who was ever in the group still works together in various combinations.
Truly wonderful indeed. Chris Cutler has to be one of my favourite drummers, so expressive
c'est le meilleur morceau du groupe , formidable passage guitaristique en seconde partie
This is an amazing performance, even better than the In Praise of Learning version.
And after over 20 years of listening to these folks, I think I'm finally getting used to Krause's voice. And she is a brilliant singer.
the frontier between prog rock and "classical" music has been crossed!
Hey, this is just 0.01% of the Box! Consider it as a teaser, and buy the box! There is so much more in it, including videos...
Box?
GENIUS...pure and simple GENIUS
Nice of you to share this!
But anyway: Buy the box, people! Its is great, they've put lots of work in it and the booklets are full of interesting information. I didn't regret buying it for a second. According to Chris there are still plenty of boxes for sale.
huge Cow man, man...love the strength of this footage...
I'm so glad someone posted this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks for posting these wonderful Henry Cow videos!
Thank you for posting this - had no idea it existed. And they perform it live without a hitch and if anything with more passion.
Excellentissimo!
Such a blasting performance! Thanks
Music for smart people.
A shame I never had the opportunity to see them. I was turned on to this music by the guys from Tin Huey, a GREAT Akron band roughly of the same vintage as Devo's first recordings. They did a great arrangement of one of their tunes morphing into Robert Wyatt's 'Little Red Riding Hood Hit the Road.' And they cooked.
Anyway, if you enjoy this look 'em up.
Most fun I ever had clothed.
Tin Huey are INDEED a great band. It figures such clever people follow similar music.
According to Chris Cutler, this concert is the only known video of Henry Cow and there are no known video of the Art Bears, but there are a few live recordings in the bonus CD of the Art Box.
when i first went on youtube a couple of years back, Henry Cow was about the only band i couldn't find. Well, you've sure fixed that!
thanks, wordofgord
Love it Henry Cow
Lindsay Cooper, R.I.P.
also, To all of you people who keep saying " Don't watch it on RUclips, go BUY THE BOX SET". Has it ever occurred to you that there are literally MILLIONS of people in the world who simply can not afford to pay $189.00 for this no matter how much they love it. your attitudes are extremely classist. it might do you some good to listen to some of Henry Cows lyrics. by the way, I work at Amoeba music in hollywood, so I know a few things about musical capitalism and being working class.
Well, then for me, this is one of the more valuble videos I've seen on you RUclips. It's exceptional.
I can't quite believe I'm watching this...
Excellent Music !!!!!!!!!
Obviously the most important document we could possibly imagine...I agree and disagree with the prior statement about infringement. Certainly these non-pareil artists should receive their due for making such globally important art...but the very POINT of the ART is to dis-enchain us to the very commodity-as-relevance paradigm, no?
Blessings to all the Cows, and to Lindsay.
P.
i love you chris cutler
"HANK" was the pinacle(and to me.the end)of first generation prog rock.
Dagmar is one of the greatest singers ever.
@Pighood
Nah, that's not capitalism, that's just buying goods, something that happens in lots of systems of govt. Talking of buying goods, my HC box collection will be arriving in the next week :)
The thing that knocks me out with this band are the sounds - only a few bands like Crimson, Uncle Frank and Art Ensemble have such a rich and varied array of fabulous sounds.
@BrazilianDuDe I normally grizzle about people using the word 'awesome'; but here it fits perfectly.
Holy cow!
@dazamaru
I'm hearing you. Magnificent, isn't it?
I've been waiting for something by Cow to show up. Great Stuff. Now, does anybody have any live Art Bears?
I have crushes on all of the women of the cow.
@BernardMontmartre -and fortunately, vast archives of live Henry Cow and Art Bears material out in the blogosphere.....all hail Henry Cow!
Awesome video - awesome band.
@TheMitzjob It took me over 20 years to get used to her weird (but lovely) voice.
Hodgkinson looks like a nice dude.
I love how silly Chris Culter looks.
La Vache Qui Vive
@Pighood You have to work with what you got. Engels owned a textile factory.
i only listened up to 0:35 and i already hated it but thanx for the upload just the same...
Musical lsd. Dagmar fucks with my mind in inexplainable ways.
No, there are other songs in the DVD. And I do not think most people will buy the box just for this. But is's so ironic to see HC fans defending the virtues of our capitalist world that I thank you for this good laugh.
equal to crimson.
No shot of Fred Firth : (?
Musique complexe et surréaliste; chaque note est écrite. Pas d'improvisation ici - c'est fort, inclassable et éreintant!!!
whats happening to my brain??!!
@BrazilianDuDe music never evolved into the jonas brothers (BEST... BAND... EVER) the mainstream was always crap, and the underground always had the interesting things. Like Henry Cow then and something like Secret Chiefs 3 today
@AlmostEthical I'll accept that when communism is redefined as "not" redistributing wealth, but rather making sure no one member of the proletariat has a single grain of rice more than his neighbor.
FYI, capitalism is the vehicle by which people support the music of Henry Cow. Quel ironie.
Dude. Henry Cow were always devout socialists and anti capitalist. now I understand that your just saying this because you dont want them to get ripped off but Im sure chris cutler knows that any true fan who can afford it will go out and buy the box set but that that shouldn't stop the poor people of the world from getting a chance to see it just because theyr'e poor. I sincerely believe that the members of Henry Cow wouldn't mind. in fact, if I can track them down I will ask.
How many lesbians are in this band? just kidding
Great video, I think "In Praise of Learning" is the best avant-prog album of the 70's
