  • 100% more blunt this video just warning everyone. This video isn't for everyone, but definitely for those who have found themselves saying the quote in the title. Whether it be Leavers, Feeders or Dunning-Krugers. There is clearly a problem with the way we are approaching this game. The most toxic mentality for those trying to improve quickly at the game.
I used beautiful artwork from some fine artists:
    Genji - dixiehail.devi...
    Murky - / cnyo5qs
Quote of the video: “It’s really difficult for us to look at our own behavior, especially as we mature” says Chuck Williams, Ph.D., the director for the Center for the Prevention of School Aged Violence at Drexel University. “One of the markers of truly successful people is being able to do self-analysis, but it’s really a challenge. We all like to avoid dealing with our own short-comings.”

This is what I was trying to get across. It's a mentality that is holding you back. You could be better than everyone in your MMR but it's your mentality that is causing you to not learn from your mistakes because you blame others.
Everyone gets leavers/feeders/trolls/badteammates but statistically it happens more for the enemies than you (4/5 randos) meaning the only common factor in all of your games is you. If someone like Kala can have a 74% win rate from silver to diamond and chu from gold to masters. Than you can too as long as you change your mentality. Instead of focusing on the one game you got that terrible team that tilted you, focus on the game that was close and rewatch the replay looking at how many waves of exp you missed, how many camps you could have gotten, how much unnecessary damage you took in fights. Those close games are the ones that there are 30-40 mistakes you made that could have changed the game.
We get trolls in high ranks as well. We get people who one trick off meta heroes, we adapt to it and not rage. There is a reason peleta (hammer 1 trick) is GM. Hes good at Hammer. So if we get mad and tilt him we lose, but if we just accept that some games we get a hammer 1 trick we can adapt and win the game. At the end of the day it is a mentality.
Every game you get where your team derps the draft, you will get a game where your enemy derps a draft. Every game where you get a feeder, you will get another game where the enemy team gets a feeder. It's just hard to distinguish those times because when you're winning it feels like you are doing everything right, not that the enemies are doing everything wrong.

      Exactly.
I remember that chu8 (channel here: ruclips.net/channel/UCFja0NYKfrkNkQQjf6YzHsA ) once said something like 'you won't change the other 4 players in your team. You can only work on yourself.'

This concept only works if you assume the level is somewhat even among people of the same rank. Unfortunately the system is deeply flawed and there are massive variations in skill. It's easy to climb to diamond when you play like a grandmaster, it's not as easy to get there if you play like a diamond. Wins and losses feel random and down to a single fight your team takes without you having any say in the matter. Surely some of it is in people's heads, but some isn't and ignoring that only serves to undeservedly put down people who don't know what to think of their skill anymore.

DJ-Sonic's the climb gets progressively grindier the more you go up and while in silver you get people who barely even know how the maps work and you can roam the map and kill everyone, as you go up teamplay becomes a lot more important. if you're a pro you can definitely still tip the scales, but it's harder if you aren't and since you're constantly playing with, say, plats, you don't get a chance to see how better players actually play.

So I assume that you accept that your skill level at the moment (unless you improve) is high plat low diamond, which is a very wise thing to do. Some peoples' skill level is gold and they are still human beings and deserve respect and have fun in their favorite game. There is a skill level for every kind of player and it's good that way.

I quit HotS entirely two days ago for the following reasons:
    - I consider myself a heal main. I was in silver, following your excellent instructional videos along with watching Kala streams and vids my winrate on Malf and Stukov is round 70-75%. However here`s the issue with low ranks: people feed. A LOT. They go into 1v5s, they charge into level 8 vs level 10, they have zero game sense and just die for no apparent reasons. This makes healing mentally very tiring, *like looking after four children for half an hour who constantly want to kill themselves, which is needless to say NOT FUN*.
    - Sometimes I need to pick other than heal because the map demands it or I need some variety because after all this is not a job or a chore that I have to do. I practiced Dehaka, Malthael and Sonya a lot, and I consider myself decent with Valla, Cassia and Falstad. When I say decent I mean: almost all games lowest deaths and at least 15 -20k more damage than anyone else on both teams. But here`s the thing: if my team does not soak lanes, does not take camps, and does not play objectives, this is all worth NOTHING. I went through my losses the other day and my worst maps(40% winrate or under) are Cursed Hollow and Towers of Doom. All big maps, where objectives are super important and lanes are far from each other. Usually what happens is that I soak lanes with Dehaka or try to go between lanes with Malthael and the team feeds into unnecessary battles, or I heal and we are 99% behind XP. Pick your poison.
    - People force pick dps 70% of the time and can`t play the role. Playing tank decently is almost impossible in lower ranks, no follow-up damage and you can basically never engage or punish people.
    - If I have sylvanas or a varian on my team, it`s an auto-loss. Sylvanas for feeding reasons and 'I don`t give a fuck about objectives or teamfights I will just push till I`m ganked', Varian for the little thing I like to call the 'Twin Blades Epidemic' . I had to BEG people in chat to go taunt in games where varian was the only tank.
    - People can`t end games. Instead of pushing core in good situations they take camps. Usually their own. I ping, I go in, they don`t follow, I retreat, rinse and repeat.
    - I don`t want or even dream of four man rotations, lane freezing, timed camp takes/invades etc, I just want people to soak lanes, don`t engage in 1v5s and don`t fight into level 10 advantage. If these things don`t happen my winrate is 70% regardless of hero picked. At lower ranks the fundamentals are missing from such a huge amount of players that it becomes a shitshow of who doesn`t die first.

Lets say "carrying" as a healer has been as frustrating as you describe. Sometimes the game is already lost at draft. All you are doing is babysitting them and trying to enable their kills as best you can and hope they don't get tilted, which is exponentially more common the lower rank you go. I've tried every hero above 50% winrate I have and its mostly luck to be honest.

    • @JoeWeedson

you went way to deep for silver you dont need to time camps or play perfect all the time
remember that the team you are up against is silver too and suffers the same problems as your team
silver is not the place for adavanced tactics
its all basic gameplay: do objectives, dont lose to much exp, do camps, get mapvision and thats it

    • @djS0nics
      @djS0nics 6 лет назад +4

Csaba Almási well if you feel like you can't carry with a healer you might be willing to change your role till you climb where you (think you) belong.
I'm main healer as well (learning solo laner atm), but I climbed from bronze to gold with mainly Jaina, I think, because she can do those things you pointed out: take camps, push/ soak lanes and secure the objectives.
And don't forget: if your team isn't soaking, chances are the enemy team isn't soaking as well.

It's because Blizzard caters to DPS mains and hates Supports. You can only carry with DPS, so my suggestion is to climb to Diamond using DPS, then start using Healers. Simple as that. And sad like that.

Yeah that`s the thing: if I had put in the grind (both mentally and gameplay-wise) I probably could have climbed to gold(which I think is my realistic rank gold 2-3 probably) but it`s too taxing on the nerves to carry with heals. especially when you dish with Stukov 90k+ heals in a 20 min game, have more dmg than a twin blades Varian and still lose :( I may have absolutely burnt myself out when it comes to this game

I'm sorry, if allies are carrying 17 coins and not turning in while we're guarding for them its 100% because they are bad player.
Now granted, I am not a perfect player, but there are many instances where an extremely obvious play to me (like body blocking yo save or kill someone) is not done by a critical hero. Or someone with no enemies on map facechecking a bush.
I have an 85% winrate when I get the hero I am good at (Probius) and my team listens to me about how to teamfight with Probius.
The other end of the spectrum is that I play supports without waveclear, and often I am forced to choose between inefficiently soaking a lane or losing soak because my teammates are 4 man farming top.
If I ping/type someone whos just soaking 2 mins into game go to Bruisers with me and they don't - they're bad.
If we're fighting over nukes and our tank and mage decide to not fight for nukes but instead go for boss on other side of the map without ever communicating anything to use when we're pinging to fight for nukes then yeah, they're bad. They're even worse if they fail to get the boss.
I don't categorize games lost because of teammates skill level to save my ego. I do it so that I can know whether or not I need to watch the replay to find my mistakes.
I super just disagree with this video, its very clear that there are times you lose games because your team mates are bad and will not co-operate with you. There is no value in self analysis in this situation because how useful is it to study a game where a jerk just decided that he was in a bad mood and would flame me for my hero pick or some shit.
All of the things I've described are things that have happened to me in my last 15 games. In 60-90% of my games, things go smoothly, I do well, make a few mistakes, but a certain percentage of the time a teammate just straight up shits the bed and loses the game because they refuse to communicate or play as a team or whatever.
Another one of my favourites is when I ping top and say don't fight without me and my team essentially goes looking for a fight for no reason with no objective spawned and then have the audacity to ping me after I'm doing exactly what I said I would.
Listen, I can accept that I'm bad and fuck up sometimes maybe losing games, but that also means other players are also bad and lose us games. Its possible for me to aknowledge my own mistakes and the mistakes of others.

Dude, this advice helps out in pretty much everything you want to do in your life. When you know that the only person responsible for where you are in life is yourself, then you have the freedom to do everything you can to improve your life. I've seen so many people complaining about everything else while completely failing to look inside themselves for a way out of a problem or career halt.
When I see people putting the blame of their failures on someone else I just tend to back away and let then sink on their misconception of sucess, simply because its painful to remember that I used to do it myself. It is very much possible (and necessary) to change this mentality, however it is a hard and constant process.
Keep it up Notparadox! I wish more and more people realize the importance of your words on this and many other of your videos that talk about this. Little by little you are helping making the gaming community a better environment.

Just getting to this. I think these lessons are true when you're a Masters player in silver - but what if you believe you're a plat-level player "MMR Stuck" in Silver - because while you are better than your tier, you're not so much better that you can carry your teams. Like, if we take out the 40% shitter tax and assume you only have an impact on the other 60% of your games, and you win THOSE at a solid 60, that's a record of 56-44 over 100 games - that's +12 games overall, or about two ranks within a tier; enough to take you from Silver 4 to Silver 2. Since I generally only play 5-15 SL games a week, that's ranking up 1 tier a month: A pretty darn long time. And the fact that 40% of my time is dead loss anyhow, I think the frustration of the players in this situation is 100% reasonable and normal. I've seen a few prominent masters level players get "hard stuck diamond" and they're just as frustrated as people in Silver are.

I find myself somewhere in the middle of this. I don't consider myself the best of my team, I do consider every death of mine my fault, I don't think my victories are my only doing. I do very often, however, find myself asking "What could I have done better in this game?" and not finding an answer. While the mentality your're proposing here is a good one to have regardless, it can't consider all the variables. Sometimes things are so out of control, that you just drop your hands. The only constant seems to be that you're guaranteed to lose a certain % of games and there's nothing you can do about it.

  • @Jensey90
    @Jensey90 6 лет назад +29

I kinda can confirm that. I am a master player and got ranked gold1 in HL this season due to mmr reset (only 10 games in HL last season). After 268 games I now achieved master again with 156 wins (about 58,2% WR -> I am no frkn chu).
My journey / What I've learned:
At start I dropped from gold1 to gold3, because i wasn't used to gold playstyle. The thing i noticed was lack of soak, waveclear and camp control. So I tried picking heroes with those characteristics and climbed. -> adjusting your playstyle/hero selection to your rank
Plat was weird in regards of flamers and other players who thought they were much better than everyone else and it took me a relatively long time to get through it. -> keep fkn calm
With better play I could've won about 10% more and I am kinda sure of that, because every 10th game was a close loss (although I didn't track that). -> be egoistic! look at your own mistakes first
    Last thing:
Don't underestimate your potential to improvement. If you win every 10th game instead of losing it, you are more likely to get bonus points during climb and you are up about 400 ranked points in total after 10 games (cause you didn't lose 200 points due to a loss). Which are about 4000 points aka 4 divisions difference after only 100 games without calculating those bonus points.
Keep it up. GL with your climb.

So, 30% of games I should have a feeder/leaver. Or a guaranteed loss.
Does this include the times when a player refuses to pick for the team? I see this in what feels like 90% of my games. And its not that I'm not communicating. I will say "Hey X, what do you want, can you show pick?" "Hey X, show pick please, I will fill what we need"
And then the player locks in what we don't need, after my turn has passed.
This has happened multiple times for me. And we don't have a proper team against a Sonya, Muradin, Kaelthas, Hanzo, Malfurion comp.

I had a huge monologue but instead I'll just edit this to say:
People are voicing frustrations about times they obviously got some "worse players" assigned to them and since you acknowledge that happens there's no point in trying to argue on it. If people truly hate the matchmaker they're not going to have an epiphany, their best option is to play the game in 5 man queues and maybe have some actual fun. Solo hero league...as you acknowledge...has at least a 30% "painful unfun ratio" and another 30% "I didn't matter I won for free" ratio. Can climb or cannot climb doesn't matter...its a game no one is getting paid to do this. Honestly I read between the lines and what I hear more often isn't "its impossible to win" its "sometimes I have a really bad time with my teammates" and the answer to that is to stop playing the game in a way where it's a job and not a game.

Good message and good video - I would like to ad that moving from quick matches to ranked or unranked is also a good way of improving; You get to draft (so you should never lose a match because of an unfair draft, happens in QM, just how it is) and you get teammates who are ready to commit to winning.
I think a lot of people who play quick matches (at least on EU servers) are just passing time, playing whatever they want to get mechanically better at and/or find fun (which is what this mode should be used for), so your chances here are way worse than in ranked or unranked.

your math is pretty questionable. someone saying they're better than everyone in their mmr doesn't mean they're unstoppable. You make it sound like the people that are complaining think they're master level players, but maybe they just think they're silver players in a bronze mmr. Those kind of people wouldn't win 70% (minus the 30% for leavers), if you make the assumption that they're given 30% of the games for leavers on the opposite team, they'd maybe be winning 54% (60% win rate for the remaining 40%). But it isn't a perfect world, and in the short term there's great fluctuation. They could actually be more unlucky than that, and be losing because in their small sample size, they actually did get terrible players on their team. So while your advice of getting better and learning is clearly good advice, the math is a bit unsound is all.

this is a very important lesson for everyone who is trying to improve his game
i got aware of this mental barricade years ago when i tried to get masters in sc2 1v1
if you want to improve your game the best way to make you aware of your mistakes is to analyse replays imo
get someone else to watch with you and point your mistakes out
focus on your own mistakes cause in the end you are the only factor in the game you can improve

You didn't even get the point of what people are saying, just like most other fanboys in hots.
The matchmaking system is rigged and uses an algorithm to pull you down in some cases. I am plat 1 right now with my main account, but last season i ended up in silver 1 with a 49% win rate. With the new season, I got placed to plat 3 right away, then I climbed to plat 1 with a 65% WR(played like 80 games so far). So, either I am a silver noob or a master god, you tell me which mechanics kept me there whole last season and how I am 2 leagues above right now.
The algorithm simply decides a rank for you (I don't exactly know how, but probably the placement games) and it simply wants to pull you there, not only by ranking points, but also by matching you with "flagged" players, who happen to be trolls, feeders or leavers.
I was not totally convinced of this until that last season I speak of, where my main acc with 1.5k levels and all heroes was hard stuck at silver 1, then I made a brand new account and got placed in plat 2, then climbed to diamond 3 in a few days. I then basically stopped playing my main and kept winning with other accounts I've created.
One last point: I was mostly playing healers with my main, and particularly Rehgar. I finished almost 70% of my games in silver with highest hero damage, highest siege damage, 10+ camps done solo every game, doing double healing of the opponent's healer and having the highest xp in the game. With this, I ended up with 49% wr. Now go and tell me I'm not good enough to carry in silver.
The whole ladder and the matchmaking in hots is bad, they just need to fix it.

Also one thing (and it was kind of mentioned in this video) that you are most likely doing wrong when you're plat and lower: You don't move. You only move when you are going to a certain location but when you're fighting or hitting a building you stand still. Move all the time, people will often fire their abilities at where you are in that moment and not where you possibly will be. Move and you will automatically be hit with fewer abilities.

I have found that in Silver/Gold that the term "carrying" must encompass more than being good "mechanically", in "game sense", "map awareness" and "game knowledge". As others have said you can often end up as MVP on the losing team (and that's not just ignoring the team game and just padding stats). If you do have superior game knowledge and sense you really have to share that with your team as most new players most likely being placed into silver/gold aren't going to have this.
Using pings, communication and sharing criticism in a helpful and polite manner can help massively with "carrying". One example in a game I played recently was a Malth player that kept dying in lane engaging multiple enemies solo. Instead of "OMG Moron, stop feeding, go back to vs AI" or other toxic insults all I said was "Hey, you've gotten some good kills but their team has too much CC for you to dive so aggressively by yourself. Can you try playing safer in lane?". Reply was "Yeah, sorry mb, you are right.". He did adjust his play a bit, we still lost (we had a suicidal Qhira too) but I feel like someone else had learnt something in that match.
Another example but with me taking note of a team mates input was "Why are you fighting? We need xp?". I hadn't been fighting without cause, but as I was playing Rehgar you want to at least try and keep people alive and escape their poor engagements. He/She was right. We didn't have twenty. Since we were pushed back in lanes I nipped bottom to clear a wave and get 20. The player that had just advised against fighting then engaged, team followed into 19 vs 20, 4 v 5 fight over Healing camp on Volskaya and died before I got back to them just as we got level 20. Communication is one of the key skills often overlooked in this game. Unfortunately the percentage of players in Silver/Gold that will ignore communication causing losses seems higher than the "30% of losses due to feeders and leavers".
    Most ignored pings:
    - Retreat, the whole team is coming to gank you as you are massively over extended
    - Retreat, its not worth dying for a camp that takes us 5 seconds to clear post lv20.
    - Assist me, it's obvious they are doing boss, but you prefer to kill a few more minions and leave us 4 vs 5.
Pings which should often be ignored:
    - Assist me, lets do boss on Braxxis holdout while the whole enemy team is alive and on the same talent tier.
    - Assist me, lets invade their camp with no advantage
    - Retreat, help defend the first punisher instead of 1 soaking xp to match their soak (at lower rank it can be good to have 5 defend as someone inevitably gets killed outside the gate instead of waiting for it safely behind as 4 players plus structures can usually defend without anyone dying or lossing more than the wall).
Another failure of players to benefit from communication are the players in draft that ignore advice on selection and either pick a hero that the enemy team already have the hard counter to, or pick a hero that doesn't benefit your comp. Those double mage comps, auto attackers into blinds, picks that don't take any wave clear/camp clear and you end up losing in XP/lane pressure.
What you said about "When you play with better players, you play better" which you explain as the other players bringing your standard up with their better play, you need to realise it also works in reverse. The number of times I've been playing with some friends that I consider to be decent at the game, then I go solo queue I start dying because I miss things like danger/missing pings(yes I know I should rely on my own map awareness), players using their full health bars to block a killing attack for you even though they aren't a tank and generally better communication and cooperation. Players that come when you ping the obvious camp invade, or boss opportunity vs the ones that will sit in lane and soak for that level 22... When you get used to that you feel crippled when queuing solo.

This has been pretty frustrating for me lately. I've been losing A LOT of games, and many games where I feel I was performing well, maybe even carrying a bit. But through some really bad choices late in the game my team loses. And I kept losing over and over again. Either getting stomped, or doing well most of the game only to lose in the last few minutes as team coordination fell apart.
Suddenly I'm thinking, "man am I just terrible? Do I actually suck at this game so much more than I thought?" "Or is it my team just sucks? Is it me being constantly placed with low MMR players, or people who don't know what they're doing?"
I haven't played ranked in a long time because of how toxic it was. And so most of my games are UR and QM. And each of those has frustrating moments as well. But man, when my winrate is bad I just have to take a break and come back later as it gets increasingly frustrating dealing with salty people who blame everyone else, and then getting salty yourself and blaming other people are you're trying to eke out a win.
But this is good advice, and going forward I'll just keep focused on my own play and mute the salty people more often.

I've roamed from plat5 to diamond1 and back quite a few times. From my experience, there is something untold about the way MM works. I've had way too many statistically impossible win and lose streaks, so it looked to me that MM was like "Ok this guy is good, let's put him in diamond" and vise versa. Also if I get leaver status (sometimes I forget that I pressed "search" button), then I get myself ready for a huge lose streak, because MM will be like "Oh what have we got here? A LEAVER!! Let's throw this garbage in Abyss it belongs to!". I honestly tried to overcome frustration during such lose streaks and play well, but it never changed results. I don't know how else it can be explained.

It is not about people feeling they are better than everyone else. It is about people feeling others let them down, which may or may not be true to some extent depending on how the game develops. You see the massive difference here. YOU should be encouraging people to steel their resolve for the worst situations and make it a challenge to see if they can beat the odds. If they don't have the resolve, just chill and keep on playing to see how the game ends. Eventually you will get better if you have the mentality to improve. You can feel you are better than everyone. Prove it by your results and work towards that goal.

There is another factor I'd like to point out:
People convinced of so-called "Elo-Hell" seek the justification of their toils. To this end, they reward their self for games in which not only did their teammates fail, but their teammates did not assist them in any way. This is statistically rare. And this is also an abstruse mathematical concept I've seen many humans fail to grasp intuitively. So I'll explain in detail:
The odds of a coin toss going equally heads and tails is a rarer possibility than the opposite. Flip a coin a hundred times, and the odds that it will be EXACTLY 50 heads, and 50 tails at the end of this is virtually non-existent when compared to any other combination. Yet, we all know that this has to be the most common ratio... on average. Because that's fair.
So what gives? When players seek that one perfect game, where their teammates are only exactly as skilled as they, and their opponents are all exactly a perfect match, they are (perhaps subconsciously) putting their self at a disadvantage, because those games virtually never occur. I see it when my allies refuse my own assistance, or choose to punish me even further for making an admittedly bad play. They would rather give up entirely, then admit that MMR dared to match them with some players who are definitely worse, and maybe some who are silently better.
There will be variance. This is statistically promised. The odds that you are exactly the single player who does not have a higher MMR than any other person on your team will always be the minority of games with five players on a team. So, if that is the trigger to despair, that there is ever a teammmate who truly and objectively needs your help to win, then if you think about the math... you can only ever win games when you're the very worst player on your own team.
What does that say about your MMR?

I am not a very good player, but I definitely agree. Something I found very helpful in climbing Hero league is playing "do it all" characters, jaina is a very good example for that: great Wave clear, can solo Camps, can peel for herself, and she can even Set up plays with rof. So you are not relying on your teammates as much as you would otherwise, because you can do most of the important things by yourself. I was having a lot of success with this method lately, even though it meant picking unpopular talents/heroes. F.e. picking sledgehammer and burning Rage on muradin so I can Wave clear and solo Camps...

Did I do something wrong? Was my positioning correct? Did I do any mistakes in my ability combo? Did I read the situation correctly? Stuff like that is what you should look for first. If you come to the conclusion, that your actions (and your actions alone) were without further flaws, then you can go ahead and look what others did wrong and which flaw led to your disadvantage.

My main issue with ranked is the "you just need to learn to carry" mentality, which essentially boils down to "you need to play only this approved short list of (mostly assassin) heroes who can consistently dominate most games".
I am a healer main, and I am always making plays, helping my team, and ending games with an average deaths of less than 1.. but none of that means anything when my sonya teammate is 1v4'ing for the 12th time. Hell, last night I was playing and our Morales flew herself INTO THE ENEMY BASE (with all 3 keeps up) and died. ?????????? My mental state cannot prevent that.
I guarantee you if I counted all of the games with a leaver, a griefer, or a disproportionately terrible player it would be more than 30%. Granted I do understand that that same percent applies to the enemy team, but it sure doesn't feel that way sometimes.
.. oh, I also had a Jaina that went afk by the middle fort long enough to get kicked from the game, and then came back 16 minutes into the game and said they left because their dog threw up. I think my mental state at that point was "f**k this, I'm out".

We're both in our 30s and have played since DotA. We've played nearly moba there is. So it's not a question of being new. I really haven't dedicated myself to being a better player in general, and it shows in my winrate. Especially because each map is different, you HAVE to know your shit, inside out.
The first step to getting better is admitting you're not that great. Because, to consistently win, YOU have to be that deciding factor on your team.

In Hots it's not always about destroying people mechanically, I mean, you can do that up to gold I'd say, but in platin people usually know how to play their hero (you can still be better mechanically but destroying sounds like you can 1v3 or something). At that point you have to scout, zone, invade camps, don't show yourself in certain moments, trap, push, siege, soak, anticipate skill shots better than your opponent and bam you're are in your desired league in no time.

  • @Shadowhawkdark
    @Shadowhawkdark 6 лет назад

I also dont understand the mentality that your death means someone even needs to be blamed. If you do things the right way, a death can be instrumental to allowing major benefit to your team.
For example: (TL;DR Stitches play too rough)
I love stitches. I love Gorge. I take Gorge every game because it allows me to pick up an enemy that is attacking an ally and put him down somewhere else. This ability has many uses, including a fear factor on the players themselves. Everyone assumes that when one person is Gorged that person MUST be saved. I pick one enemy up, and the rest follow me like little ducklings-allowing my previously assumed to be a dead man walking ally to become completely safe with just the click of a button or two. Does this kill me? Sure, under some circumstances I survive-but usually, if things go to plan, Stitches becomes redeadified (as apposed to undead). Also, under many of these circumstances, I am already in a nearly dead state anyways.
What do I lose? 20-50 seconds of my game time. What do I gain? 1-3 allies that wouldnt have survived otherwise, that potentially could get away, deny death xp, reheal up, regroup, and attack back or defend against assault.

Amazing video man. This is so true. I used to be that guy in OW lol. I had to stop playing it got so bad. But all of this is so true and when I learned that, and started watching replays instead of grinding more, in any game btw not just heroes, you slowly see yourself get better because your mistakes are so obvious in hindsight. People just don't take the time to sit and watch.
Might wanna do a video on how to watch replays, if you haven't done that already. Great work tho man keep it up

I don't think we can make generalized statements for low level players. Rather than telling what they can do it's defined by them lacking something, it can be anything. Be it gamesense, be it managing mana/cooldowns, be it mechanics, be it map knowledge, be it positioning, be it even knowing the heroes. It can be anything. Same with aggression, there are both timid and aggressive players in low ranks. There are those who can bully players as a not classically scary hero and those that prefer to play safe. Obviously, more aggressive players may also die more often. As I said, low tiers are not clearly defined even by the general standard.

This is perfectly stated. Just yesterday i had a thrall blame me for his dying bc i didnt properly body block for him (LUL) . Then i had a guy report me 2 seconds into the game bc i was in hearth when the game started (we were on comms is the reason i know he reported me) i would go on to get MVP in that game. This game is super fun to play but geez can it be highly toxic.

Loved the video, so true. However, a lot of players (myself included) don't grind HL nearly as much as Unranked Draft, so you end up consistently playing with diamond-master MMR in unranked, yet when you move to HL you play with golds and plats then you see the individual mistakes teams make. I do maintain a 65-70% win rate in HL... but losing a match out of your control is so disheartening that I never play as many games as I should to get to my actual skill level.

The bottom line is that very skilled DPS heroes have the best chance to carry. TLDR: play DPS if you're a mechanical god.

ohw, so harsh, i always blame myself its really tiring tho, sometimes you just can't handle the amount of mistakes needed to learn. so you blame others(i mean wrong teamfights on stupid places is not something to acount for still no reason to mention to them toxic makes blind and dumb). however by being there you could make a difference, but yea, it needs you to be fysically be there. long live zagara, all over the map. everything can be done.

I find them funny. I blame myself first mostly because I dont always see what my team is doing for most of the time. But I am completely aware of what I'm doing. Not only in hots, but in overwatch and splatoon 2 too.

A lot of your points are obviously true, and it's something to work on, the Chromie example is kind of a bad one, as in lower ranks Rewind ends up being picked up much more frequently, whilst cleanses aren't, and the game knowledge of matchups are lower it can make dominating the matches vs her harder, especially on a character that can build up to potentially 1 shot. On the same note though, it's something people need to consider during drafting as a potential pickup if you have some experience and success with her to climb out of lower ranks. Every rank has a selection of heroes they just don't understand how to deal with, hell I've seen some masters players that bitch about Chromie being "impossible to kill" and "have too much anti-dive" dispite it being her core weakness. Skill and gamesense both can get you far individually, so working on the other will help get the rest of the way.
A big thing though that wasn't really mentioned is tilt. You have a really bad game, a leaver, or something else that leaves you in a bad mood, just walk away. Everyone always says it, but it's impossible to emphasize how important this is. You only play with a level head, you'll play smarter, and will be less likely to flame/call out teammates, which in turn lowers the likelyhood of them going on tilt. Someone on your team tilting? Just stay calm and try to be positive. A levelheaded team and supportive chat can bring them back from tilt, and often times a player brought back from tilt can surge your winning chances. The game isn't a loss at the drafting screen if you stay positive, it's only lost at the drafting screen if you believe it's lost.

I have a 68% winrate, but I still have this mentality and still constantly get upset, because I very rarely ever get carried. It feels like it's always on me no matter where im at.
What I would like, is how to improve my mentality, How do I get out of this constant negative. It feels like the only solution is to just not play.

Problem with the 30% rule is that it requires you as a player to play MANY games in one sitting. For people who play casually and can maybe only get in 15 ranked games a week getting stuck is a very real reality. You need a large sample size for statistics to work, for example something might have a 2% chance of happening but if you only roll 100 times it could very easily not have happened a single time. Like wise if you play 3 games you can easily roll that 30% each time and drop lower and lower with absolutely no say in the matter.
I win more than I lose yet my rank has not moved. I place mid diamond frequently but I'm current hard stuck at silver 1 on another account and there little I can do about it. half the time we lose at draft with either no healer or no tank, the other half of the time we lose because we have a feeder on a crucial character, say a tracer or jaina who HAS to be doing her job for us to win but they simply sucks and never follows up on good CC or just misses everything. I know for a fact I could out macro, micro, etc. anyone on my team at any given time I can shoot the hell out of any enemy team on raynor or greymane, heal like maniac on uther, anduin or alex and get hooks for days on stitches.
It's unbelievably annoying since i know I could be dropped in mid diamond right now and go toe to toe with the rest of them.

After this I kinda feel bad for blaming my team consistently no matter what happened. If it was my fault or their fault. This just showed me 1st: That I shouldn´t blame other ppl cuz it wont make anything better and it´s me who has to think about stuff and it´s me who has to learn/master his heroes first before I can actually go for higher ranks. And 2nd: To actually have fun in the game and not to focus on just getting higher ranked. Even tho he didn´t rlly pointed anything of that out it just made me realise that I´m sometimes way too focused on getting higher ranked than having fun in the game.
No1 knows who I am in HotS but I apologize to all of you that I flamed from Gold 1 to Gold 5.

This is really what I hate about mobas. It seems to seep into ever single one real hard. I was in my promos for Diamond V, and I quit because when I went and played other games, it felt like I got my soul back.
I'm seeing a pattern with mobas. I like hots, but it does seem to becoming more and more like the toxic league culture.

If we go on those numbers a bit more and assume even teams in all games, then there is a 9% chance of both teams having a leaver or feeder. So in 21% of the games you have a guaranteed win/loss. So the other 58% is supposed to be on even playfield by those numbers. Now we assumed that both teams are of equal skill, so that means an 50% win rate. This means that ~2/5 of your lost matches on your level is with a feeder or leaver on YOUR team. But as you said, it's easy to think that when you are stomping you are just that good. That said the ratio can easily make you believe that you are better than your team in most of the cases, because by default you will think more on lost matches than on wins. I think this is a more important reason for this mentality, than the fact that you are playing with higher ranked people babying you.
