  • In order to meet the expectations of highly technical companies, Ghent University is grooming their students to be immediately deployed in very challenging jobs. By combining engineering skills with practice on real-life machines, students are being trained as mechatronic engineers. This approach can only be obtained by a partnership with local industry.
Former master student, Lawrence De Bruyne, performed his thesis within the TREMEC Belgium development team. He investigated the phenomenon of ‘judder’, a driveline vibration problem resulting in an uncomfortable driving experience.
With this successful thesis, he was offered a job as a calibration engineer. This is a dream job for someone like him already fascinated by fast cars as a child. TREMEC sees this kind of collaboration as a real opportunity to attract talented students at an early stage.
This episode was produced as part of a series called “Campus-TV” by the regional West-Flemish television station Focus|WTV.
