CONGRATULATIONS!!! i’ve had some horrible experiences freezing up during my performances at competitions and i’ve been really struggling with nerves for about 5 years now, so it’s great to hear your advice especially since my piano teacher and i watch your performances ALL the time. you’re the only person we’ll watch for inspiration🤣✨💛
I was going to practice and then I saw you posted your new vlog...so I had to stop everything and watch it!! I can go practice now...re-inspired by you :D Congratulations Tiffany you deserve it!!
Watching your videos always brings back memories from my younger days when I used to compete for nationals and it was a HECTIC time so I really understand this whole emotional roller coaster. I didn't used to be able to sleep before auditions and I was a complete wreck cuz I'm already a nervous person. I knew I wasn't cut out to perform under pressure but it's always been a dream of mine to play in an orchestra though hehe. I love watching your videos and relive some of these moments. Wish you all the best Tiffany! Knock 'em dead!
As my undergrad piano teacher use to say “Relax! You’re gonna be fine!” There was another occasion I was rehearsing with him for juries because he was my pianist and at the end of the rehearsal, he said “You’re gonna be fine! I don’t know why you’re getting scared” I’m sure you killed it! I want to let you know that I love how you play 😃❤️🎼🎶
You are an inspiration to me. I’m 15 and have been playing for nine years, yet I feel like I’ve been losing interest, like it’s an old childhood hobby. i am trying to rekindle my passion for the piano and you have helped me so much. and you’re so beautiful, especially when you play the piano❤️ -S
You keep meeting new challenges and overcoming them! New schools, new cities, auditions, concerts, even making vlogs and speaking to a phone in public! If you can do it, we all should all at least be challenging ourselves. You. Are. Inspiring! 💙
The Steinway at my school has the same issue. I had to accompany my friend who is a bassist at a student recital and I had issues with the Steinway. It was supposed to be opened half-lid but it was opened full-lid at the end😂 I had so much trouble adjusting to the acoustics and the piano so that I don't overpower the double bass, which was one of my main issues accompanying cos I was used to accompany loud brass instruments😂😂😂😂😂 So glad the balance came out just in place.
The key to overcoming nerves is lots of duckies! I'd be curious to see you talk about what you find to be the ideal level of mental focus to have while playing at your best. Does it fall into an intuitive state or a more concentrated high focus state?
OMG! A big, big congratulations are in order!!! Yay!!! Really, really ecstatic for you! I really loved this vlog, probably one of my favorites now! Good advice on managing nerves-always welcome, love the visit with ducks and of course, the final result! Congrats, Congrats, Congrats! That’s really awesome! I’m pretty sure you’ve got an entire crowd cheering for you! Hey, again, thanks for sharing your journey!
Thanks for the post! Nerves are "real", and not something to be ignored. The most important thing is to accept the feeling, and address it. You did that!
You're really amazing Tiffany! I don't mean just because of your great talent, but also because you're very simple and humble, and you show yourself as you're, without filters or masks. So glad that I found your channel. Thanks for sharing a part of your life with us 🙂
It's good to see that you got a satisfying result, and you looks anything but nervous when you were waiting for the it, which was kinda cool and relaxing.
How wonderful that you share these intimate experiences... at my first public performance I discovered what "Tunnel Vision" is.....gaping darkness. After rehearsing on a digital piano, sitting down to a grand piano in front of the public was a "learning experience". After the first 2 measures my thought was "who is this monster trying to slay me!"...in the end the crowd was oblivious. I can only imagine multiplying all of that stress x100 for a competition!!!...it takes the personal experience of getting up on stage to really appreciate the gifted artist!❤
We heard the last few phrases of Chopin’s first Ballade. Because of the pedal, all of the carefully written notes got blurred and mixed up. I played this at a concert in Derby, England in May 1946 and did the same thing for ‘Bravura Effect’ and got boiling oil from my patron. So I practiced it without the pedal in mini waves of sound and realized what a lot of different sounds there are to choose from. There are no limits to the way you can perform, even if the audience throw eggs at you, you can go home and play the performance you want to at that moment, either following the written directions or make up your own. There is life and emotion in every performance. Wonderful music infinite.
I do not think there was overuse of the (right) pedal. The room ambience/echo may have blurred something, but to me on these speakers it sounded fine, actually wonderfully expressive!
You are so amazing. What a powerful creative talent you have.To be able to do what you do.And it instantly brings so much joy and happiness into the world. All that music inside your head.Just incredible.Fascinating to watch you.
I had to walk into my lounge carrying my laptop to show this Vlog to my wife and said, "You know how much I adore Khatia Buniatshivili (actually we both do) and I don't love her any less but this amazing young woman has just usurped her !
Awww, I have never seen so many cute duckies in a video!! 😍 - It makes much more sense now, the life of a pianist, thanks to your vlogs. Glad it went well Tiff!! ✨👏
Bumped into your channel a week ago. Got inspired by your attitude that much.. so I'm buying a piano today! Keep going please, you are waking up my inner piano child.
Congratulations! It is really exciting to watch you win the audition. Keep up the good work and stay positive. I wish to see more vlog of you. I'm really proud of you!
The thing is that at this level what's between a winner and an also ran? Not a lot. Life is cruel. How people operate at this level is completely beyond me but I am so grateful to those that do have the courage and determination. Bravo!
Wow! Good job and congrats on achieving that! Thanks for video recording the audition even though you felt some nerves. All the best with what you have to do next. Take care.
Congratulations to you on your scholarship! Your fans around the world are so happy and proud of you! Anyway, I'm 36 years old, from USA but now live in Chongqing, China, and I've played piano since I was kid and still play it on and off throughout my life. Piano, and music for that matter, has been one of my life's passions though I don't play it competitively but more as a hobby. I never got anywhere to the level near you or the pianists you're up against with and I've always thought that music shouldn't be all about competition. Music should be enjoyed by everyone and what may sound like junk to one person may sound like the voice of God to another. In the world of competitive music, it can be a very competitive and sometimes very cruel. Nonetheless, you're a young and truly talented person and there's a big future for you ahead. Your hard work and strong determination will pay off soon! Good luck! 加油!
Congratulations Tiffany. Glad to see you weren’t nervous at all during the hour wait. That was a beautiful looking piano you auditioned on. Just keep up all your hard work and you will succeed at all of your future auditions.
wow. just wow. you are incredible! Thankyou for the vlog! I'm glad they let you do it! x good luck with your future career i have a feeling it will be a very bright one! x
Oh , you were in germany and I´ve missed you. So that´s it what social media is all about :D. Well, then I have to wish you on RUclips good luck by bringing classical music back to life!
Hope it all went well in Germany. I lived there 3 years in Germany and got married there. Its great time to travel around.Tough to compete abroad, but great vlog.
congratulations Tiffany! My competition didn't go well, it was at Steinway and sons youth piano competition in April and let's just say I only memorized 3/4ths of all the pieces I picked out, but at least the judges gave great feedback and I felt accomplished hehh. Keep up the good work!
The dynamics and feel of Chopin G-minor ballad ending was super, you sold to a patreon visit there. But most of all like many people say, thank you for sharing and for making classical music more human, less formal, more flexible. ❤
Putting aside your great talent as a pianist. Its very impressive seeing how you get past all the nerves of performance. Thanks for sharing
Sleepy fingers? My goodness, compared to that, mine are in a coma, even after two hours of practice.
Philip Jones xDDD
oh god😂😂😭
this is gold 😂✋
I literally clapped when they said you’re getting the scholarship 😳 I’m so enthusiastic about what’s coming next for you!
Haha love your enthusiasm every week 😅

Congratulations, Tiffany! The Chopin Ballade No. 1 in G minor is my all-time favorite piece and you played it beautifully!

When you sit down on that piano at the very beginning. It’s like magic the sounds and speed and combination that you have.
we are here for you... and have continuous faith in your audition and everything else

Haven't found it yet 🙃
