    Great, but you don't seem to concentrate on the continental grip. Have you any tips for somebody who is trying to change from the forehand grip on the service, but finds the change very difficult?

    • @tennisfitapp
      @tennisfitapp  5 лет назад

      Good point Chris, I use always continental grip...sure...this change is tough I know, but it is possible, you go step by step towards the continental as you can't do whole change at once..you have to go slowly slowly as you gonna be getting used to a new grip...Sometimes I tape hand of my players to a grip in a new "closer to continental grip" position and they have to get used to it....I don't think there is another work around, (but probably some other techniques by other coaches for sure :-) )...the one I use with a tape works, but takes time as this change is very particular...let me know how you get on if you try it...and I will think about other solutions too...also once you will have a continental grip you have to add "pronation"...as you probably don't have it right now with the forehand grip?

    I saw a video once which says flat serves can give topspin can you explain how that works I know they said it had to do with when the ball impacts the strings??

    • @tennisfitapp
      @tennisfitapp  3 года назад

      Hi. Great input! Again this depends at what level player plays! Most pros first serve has a bit of spin - otherwise they would be all hitting all into the fence with that power- but again its all about the “racket angle” on the contact point! I might do a video about this but basically yes its possible!

    • @tennisfitapp
      @tennisfitapp  3 года назад +2

      Hi David, it does happen, how often do you play matches? Normally this is due to playing not enough matches so then body is "more tight" and does not produce the same results as in the practice when we are "more relaxed"...let me know and thanks for valuable input! Jan

    • @davidquinn6776

      @@tennisfitapp thanks so much for the awesome feedback. Yes, i think my game time play has been very light since coming back to tennis after a 20 plus year absence. Also, I play with people who are highly critical...I can hit three services winners and one double fault in a game and they emphasize no double faults. Also. I used an app to view my swing and it appears I have a bit of a waiters serve or at least an open face at the top which would make sense of when I am a bit nervous they go long...that is a bugger to fix though....

      @@tennisfitapp Thank you, but it's actually a technique similar to long toss in baseball. In baseball, long toss strengthens the arm so that when one throws off the mound the power developed from throwing long is now more mph on the fastball. I just apply this logic to tennis whereby the power is now directed into a tennis serve.
