Your Channel came up on RUclips for the first time. I, to, am a quiltmaker since I turned 40; 32 years now. I enjoyed your detailed explanations which all made sense! to my A.D.D. Brain!!! Yay YOU!!. I certainly have seen & cut HST's with the tube method for me, hearing & watching you figure how to use Math to get your sizes to work, even though you had 6 different sizes, just out of SCRAPS!!! I was seeing a magician at work!!! AND, I felt JOY while you were working!!! So, I looked @your Channel and Subscribed!!! I look forward to seeing your other tutorials!!! Amazingly beautiful!! Love how you freestyle your patterns and pattern sizing as you go. I think it gets your creative juices going, less stress and more fun! The leaves were laid out so gracefully. I didn't see that coming. ❤
Awwwhhhhh, what lovely compliments! I sure do like to just see how things turn out sometimes. You’re right, it is so much less stress and fun! I appreciate you! 😍💙🤗🫶🏼
Thank you so much! I was actually looking outside at the blue sky when I was playing around with the background colors! 💙 I was like well, let’s just do it! 😂 Thank you for your kindness 😊🫶🏼🍁❤️😁
I commented before that this was great inspiration. I ended up making a long and tall wall hanging using batiks. It hangs by my front door. The dark background really elevated it. I used a dark indigo spider web batik. Now, I can get back to my actual planned projects. 🤣
Hello! 👋 I’m so happy for you and your wall hanging! I bet it looks just lovely by your front door 😍 Thank you very much for sharing and good luck with your planned projects! 😂🤣❤️🤗😁
That turned out so great! I find it so nice to use up scraps or to add scraps to one (or two) more project whether it's a quilt, pillowcase, runner or whatnot, especially when it's fabric I really like! I love how you just organically made a block in different sizes then decided how to make it work. I like that much better than just following a pattern because my brain seems to enjoy that more . Also, LOVE the navy with the leaves!
I appreciate you and thank you for what you said! Yes, I too think our brains like to just sew and not think about it too much 😊 Thank you for being here! 😁💙🤗🫶🏼
From that pile of uninspiring scraps you made such a lovely quilt. Thankyou so much for letting us into your thought processes. I really enjoyed it and you've definitely inspired me.

Fabulous Quilt! I have a fat Quarter stack of gorgeous print fabrics, and they will look gorgeous with a dark blue background. The Maple Leaf & Bear Paw blocks are my favorite blocks (along with basket blocks). I also have a fat Quarter stack of lovely solids. Hmmm, I think I'll first make this quilt with solids & navy - a test run. Then I'll make it with the beautiful print fat quarters. Thank you for demonstrating this gorgeous Quilt; this tutorial has been very inspirational. 😊 ❤
👋👋 what a show stopping quilt -GORGEOUS I use my blind foot all the time to stitch items down like you did the stems. I can totally recommend it for binding too. I loved listening to your thought process.
I just found you on you tube and your amazing. Thank you for all your tips. I loved how you use your regular square to make triangles. This is a beautiful quilt. I would have never thought about using the blue for background but oh how beautiful. Once again thank you and you are amazing. I’m going to tell my quilting friends about you

Christine, I really enjoy all of your RUclips videos. You do a fantastic job, teaching how to do your projects. The leaf quilt is on of my favorite quilt design and I love yours. The blue background really tied it all together and made the leaves stand out. Thank you for another wonderful project!🍁🍁🍁🍁

I love how you did your blocks. I see scraps being made into snowmen, candy canes, gingerbread men. Also lots of butterflies. Thank you for such wonderful ideas.

I have the same tables for cutting , my son cut some plastic pipes and put it on the legs to raise my tables higher, it works great and is easier on my back. Try it , it works great.
I was wondering if you were to make another quilt similar to this one, would you consider having the leaf blocks going in different directions like they fall 🍁🍂 on the ground instead of going the same way???
Hello and thank you for your question 😊 I almost went with have them scattered about but something told me to lay them out all the same way. What’s great about making all of your blocks the same size, you can definitely lay them out however you like! I may have to give that a try in the future 😁 Thank you very much! 🍁💙☺️
I am a free-lancer too but have generally laid out the blocks to see where i needed to fudge in my filling background....why didn't i think to grow blocks up to match the big sister???? Who knows but when you said, make them all 14" the bells went off!!!! Thank you for this tip; it will be invaluable for putting together my random orphans. I love the navy background on this fall look quilt. Im going to try to FMQ THAT wood grain too!
Hello! Oh my goodness! Your comment about them bells going off has brought a huge smile to my face! I’m so glad to have been helpful! All the best to you! Happy sewing!! 🧵 🍁😁💙
It's beautiful! I love the blue background and the wood grain quilting makes it look like the leaves are blowing in the wind. I've never seen one of your videos before so will watch more. I'm always looking for ways to downsize a quilt pattern to make something else like placemats, table runners or wall hangings. How many full size quilts do I really need? But I want to make the pattern and want it in my house. Thankfully my quilt shop has lots of service projects for actual quilts.
Great job? I love watching videos like this..they make me to note color choices. I would never thought to use that color of blue, but I the end it was a great choice! I like to know sizes..how big was this? (KH)
Thank you so much! I was definitely feeling bold with this blue but I’m so glad I did 😊 The quilt finished approximately 65” x 78”. I have more details in the Description Box below my videos. Thank you very much for your kind words! 😁💙🫶🏼
Really great tutorial! Thanks for taking the time to share your talent. Especially appreciate the written instructions!!!! What kind of Long Arm do you have and what type of thread do you use. I just started using a Long Arm and I’ve got questions. By the way, your freehand work looks perfect !
Glad it was helpful! I have a Baby Lock Coronet who I’ve been named Eleanor ❤️ For this quilt, I used a variegated thread from Madeira. It tends to be pretty dusty but the colors are fabulous. A majority of the time I use Superior Threads So Fine in both my top and bobbin. There is hardly no lint and works beautifully! For my regular sewing machine, I use cones of Aurifil 50 wt. I hope this helps! 😊💙🫶🏼🧵
Thank you for the tip! I keep them protected in plastic sleeves because I find myself writing notes on the paper patterns when I work on future projects. 😊

Hello and thank you for your question. I do not have a tutorial on my woodgrain quilting, but I learned the idea from Angela Walters here on RUclips. She is such an excellent teacher 😊 Search for her and “wood grain”. The smaller wood grain looks amazing but on larger quilts I like to make the pattern larger. It works great for “guy quilts“, too! 😊
I’ve never been a fan of a leaf quilt. Mostly because the repetition of the same size block is boring. Your quilt is anything but boring. The dark background is so rich and the multi size maple leaves are stunning.
Sorry ... nearly had a stroke watching you using glue over the wool mat & then ironing over the fabric risking ruining both items. I don't know about you or what you can afford, but I certainly can't pay for replacements.
I normally lay down a piece of cotton when gluing, as I stated in the video. I have had some get on the wool mat and the iron l as I use A LOT of glue in my workshop. It comes off easily on both things so no need for getting your heart rate up! Lol 😂 Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you very much Christine. I had to laugh to myself when you said you don't even throw away scraps. I was doing the very same thing! In preparing a mockup of a block, I had to cut off the sleeve of a used mens shortsleeve dress shirt just to save my 'real' scraps. The other scrap was from a used clothing because it had serger stitches in it. Yes, my friend cringes at how 'stingy' I am with my scraps. I love that you willingly share your knowledge and techniques so I can learn more and better.
Wow, thank you so much!! 😍😍 Lol, yes those scrap pieces are so precious, right?! 😂 Thank you for sharing and I appreciate you for being here. Happy sewing to you! 🧵😁💙🫶🏼😊🍁

I love your spirt. I found this really touching and beautiful, all around.
Wow, thank you! I appreciate your kindness 😊❤️🫶🏼
Thank you so much! I’m glad the tutorial is helpful 😊 I completely understand about how many quilts one can have! 😂 All the best to you! 😁
42:08 I love that your sewing machine just starts sewing without pulling the fabric in. What machine are you using? The quilt is beautful!
Hello! I have a Baby Lock Aria! I absolutely love her ❤️ Thank you for watching! 🫶🏼😁💙
P.S. just an idea: the hand written pattern could be laminated to protect it from damage. ❤
Thank you for the tip! I keep them protected in plastic sleeves because I find myself writing notes on the paper patterns when I work on future projects. 😊
There is no link in the description for the binding, hoping you can fix that and tell me where I can find it.
Hello and thank you for your question. I will attach the link below to the Playlist that has all of the videos I referenced in this tutorial. I also have an “All about Binding” Playlist that will be helpful too. I hope this helps! 😊

Do you have a tutorial on the wood grain quilting
Hello and thank you for your question. I do not have a tutorial on my woodgrain quilting, but I learned the idea from Angela Walters here on RUclips. She is such an excellent teacher 😊 Search for her and “wood grain”. The smaller wood grain looks amazing but on larger quilts I like to make the pattern larger. It works great for “guy quilts“, too! 😊
@@OxygenFarmQuilts thank you so much.
You are so very welcome!! 🤗 💙🍁
🤩🤩🤩🤩
Thanks so much! 😊🍁💙
I’ve never been a fan of a leaf quilt. Mostly because the repetition of the same size block is boring. Your quilt is anything but boring. The dark background is so rich and the multi size maple leaves are stunning.
I appreciate you! I was definitely like, “welp, let’s just see” Lol 😂 Thank you for watching! 😊🫶🏼❤️
The sound was very bad! All I could do was watch.
Do you mean the sound on the tutorial?
Sorry ... nearly had a stroke watching you using glue over the wool mat & then ironing over the fabric risking ruining both items.
Wow exciting new way to use scrapes and a great story behind it with that thank you card!!! ❤
PS. I love the new Scrappy quilt … ❤❤❤
Thank you so much!! ❤️😊🫶🏼
I appreciate you and I’m glad you’re here. All the best 🫶🏼😁🍁💙
