Everyone owes Katherine Heigl an apology. Everything she has said about Hollywood and the movies she’s worked in were and are completely dead on. On top of that she was without a doubt the most talented actor in the show and what they did to her character…anyone would be pissed.
You're absolutely correct. I'm rewatching the show now and it was only her and Sandra Oh that brought depth to their characters despite the subpar writing at times. Justin Chambers and Chandra Wilson had their moments, but it was mainly them two.
I disagree. Looking back at older episodes like this her character came off as sanctimonious and way too overbearing much like the actress herself. She's always rumored to be difficult to work with on just about every film and project she's worked on and unfortunately none of her performances since this show have stuck out displaying any talent beyond what was displayed here. She also used to complain that the writing for this show was crappy too and there's a reason her Hollywood star never rose.

Izzie was a great doctor, and a great person. Wrong things occurred at wrong times. The hospital was her whole life, her whole reason of being. Really sucks how she went out. Most of her time on this show consisted of her being emotional and distracted. She barely ever did surgery. We never even got a feel for what specialty she would’ve had.
She had extreme prowess with children seasons 1-3 and following this cancer story I expected oncology or paediatrics. But, you’re right she never flourished, just like George and even the bleeding nurses.
She was a great doctor. She was quick on her feet and incredibly smart. If you look back to the show and pay attention you will see that. Just because she is not as ambitious and cut throat as christinia doesn’t make her a bad doctor, she was very good

Times has changed. But Webber bring back that intern that Arizona slept with when Webber said she's not good enough to be a surgeon and April came back after got fired two times. Times has changed indeed.
She also committed a attempt murder, stole a heart, risked her friends career (including her own) and could have caused a lot of damage to the hospital if any of this was made public. So she's not innocent, she's lucky she even has a job in the first place.

Just think, only if that one doctor didn't piss her off she wouldn't have read the chart wrong. Maybe she would've been focused. Then she wouldn't be fired. Then Webber wouldn't have mentioned Alex. Then she wouldn't have left him. Then who knows. It's strange how one little talk, emotion, or event could change the whole perspective on others, including their, lives.
That a lot of if & maybes, she simply made a mistake in a time no doctor can offered to make the tiniest mistake no matter what situation she was facing, Alex managed to keep his job and he had to deal with a wife who left and him and then later on deal with her medical bills (because she wasn't even decent enough to take care of her own bills) so there's no excuse. She simply made a a mistake (like everyone does from time to time) but she made at worst time possible.

According to yor logic Webber killed George..Owen killed Lexie and Mark..Mereith killed Derek..and Meredith stole a medicine from another family and she manipulated the system without giving a crap about the millions of people with the Alzheimer disease and without giving a crap about her husband's career and Webber covered her a@@..Cristina covered her attending's a@@ by performing difficult surgeries as an inexperienced intern and by jeopardizing people's lives..Burke operated on people with a tremor..Webber operated on people drunk and he almost killed the yellow patient and Bailey and Meredith covered his a@@..Lexie and Meredith removed a tumor without the patient's consent and they left her unable to speak by destroying a young's girl future as a lawyer..Derek killed a pregnant woman because he thought that he was God and he was willing to create a monster just to cover his @@@@..Bailey asked Derek to kill a patient..Lexie asked Bailey to steal an organ..Lexie and the other interns started cutting each other's organs..Karev also broke the law countless times and he was also a pediatrician and assaulted colleagues and beat them almost to death and he manipulated Cristina,Bailey and Webber to break the law by going against Izzie's medical wishes..In season 5, Karev became Izzie no 2,his speeches,his accusations,his behavior,going against her medical wishes,blaming her for dying,forcing her to do brutal surgeries because it was all about him now..and he also screwed an unstable patient with a memory loss and she almost killed herself because of his denial and when Izzie tried to help him,he threatened to hit her and he called her a stupid b@#4 and still people are talking about Izzie's emotional stability??! WHAT A JOKE..!!!!!!!
Katherine was remarkable in this scene. Say what you want about her (and I myself haven't always liked what she's had to say about certain things), but her acting has been impressive throughout the series. Izzie annoys me about 90% of the time, but my heart really went out to her here. I can't imagine how the writers can keep her in the main cast, though, if she is not a doctor at the hospital, so I'm guessing that she will eventually get hired back, once Katherine returns from her hiatus.
13 years later and they did in fact not bring her back. But funnily enough - the stuff she was saying about the show making everyone in hollywood hate her ended up being completely true and people are finding out about that now. Everyone owes katherine an apology

I felt bad for Izzie here. She just went through cancer, her best friend dying and then colleagues doubting her work ability plus she felt like she needed to come back sooner cause the overarching merger and then after making a mistake after she was deceived by someone who she was maybe seeing as a new friend/new person to fill the void George left and then Richard mentions Alex which makes it seems he had something to do with it so I can see why Izzie was mad at Alex but at the end of the day she should've told Alex she needed a while to sort things out and then come back and work things out
So by this point, everyone has an idea of what their specialty is. Christina in cardio, Meredith in neuro, Alex in peds and George with trauma, but what was Izzies going to be? General Surgery? I know later on Meredith goes to general with Lexie in neuro (Jackson doing plastics, and April in trauma later on) but what was it going to be for her? She tried peds but quit, failed at Cardio and the drama she gets in every season keeps her from really expanding. Deny dying, Deny's ghost manifesting cancer. It seemed that Deny and Alex took a lot out of Izzie's character than needed and the same thing happened with Lexie (who went from Karev, to George, to Mark, to Jackson, and back to Mark). Maybe I'm missing something.
FantasyPNTM I could see that. Izzie did learn to temper her optimism with reality. Especially when she kept motivating that one patient and Owen chastised her for it when he died.

Izzie was upset because of the mercy wester guy so she read the lab wrong or something and sucked all the potassium out of the patient and stopped her heart so the woman didn't get the kidney. but later she got her sisters in PP :)
Life lesson: if somebody leaves you 8.7 million dollars on his testament, keep them for you. You don't know if you are going to need them later when everybody takes everything away from you. Life takes many turns.
Katherine herself admitted she wasn't always the best person to work with. And so what? Shonda (I mean, anyone tbh) should be ready to work with all kinds of people. Even if Katherine didn't have the best attitudes, Shonda sure as hell isn't an angel. She has shown that she easily holds grudges and plays by favourites by the way she writes the show. It's like she is living in her own little world where she does whatever she wants with the characters. It would be alright if it wasn't for one thing: It's a TV show and audience matters the most. Shonda let her "disliking" for Katherine take over the way she controlled the character. Izzie from Season 1, 2 and 3 was great, but somewhat after that she started losing impact, and her character changed completely. Izzie became an annoying and bitchy character, as a way of Shonda making an allusion of what she actually though of Katherine as. Nevertheless, I still believe the acting was great, since it wasn't actually Katherine's fault. Whatever. In the end, when Katherine finally realized this, she wanted out. She couldn't work in a place where everyone considered her a bitch. The whole thing with Izzie not applying to win that award made sense to me, but Shonda and possibly everyone else interpreted that wrongly, as a way of Katherine telling her she didn't like participating in the show. I believe she simply thought that, compared to the others, she wasn't good enough, which she would have surely been able to work out if she had been given more support. She wanted out and that's when Shonda lost the chance she had to make another great dramatic episode and instead made this forgettable excuse to make her leave, simply firing Izzie and making her last lines the worst level of bitchy I have ever witnessed. I did not recognize that Izzie. Well I mean, I have heard that Shonda wanted Izzie to return in the finale, just for her to get shot and killed, hence making the drama we all love and are possibly scared of too, but Katherine did not show up to the filmings. I doubt it is true, but if it is, I can forgive Katherine for it. Shonda portrayed Izzie as a bitch just because she did not like the actress, and that for me showed me how Shonda actually handled being the "boss" there. Katherine may not have behaved the way Shonda wanted, but Shonda shouldn't have been so offended and shouldn't have taken so much revenge. Her own revenge had consequences on the show. But who cares? Who am I even talking to? Izzie and George were my favourites, I miss them. 😭❤

I I'm literally still watching season 3 and then I open RUclips and then I see mcdreamy dies I cried because I felt so much pain and I don't why I care so much but it really hurts and then I see all the other deaths and The OG characters leaving I just couldn't and I stopped watching the show I don't think it's worth it anymore.

Izzie was a great character in first two seasons. I loved her story. She grew up at a trailer park, had a teenage pregnancy, she made her way through college, paid her fees. Amazing character. Even Addison said once that she's one of the best she's seen in years. But unfortunately everything went downhill after Denny nonsense! Her character became so annoying. I used to love izzie but I was glad they cut her off the show.

Who helped all people and animals. Who felt joy knowing she could help someone. Who felt proud knowing she was able to get herself out of a rough situation and become a person who saves lives. Always so warm and kind. Always so genuine. She poured her sweet little heart onto everything she did. Regardless of how many people treated her like crap. Regardless of all the bad things that have happen to her. She poured her heart out. & she didn’t expect anything in return. Mistakes, life, the past, they get the best of us. Izzie was a great doctor, and a great person. Wrong things occurred at wrong times. The hospital was her whole life, her whole reason of being. Take a persons purpose away it’s like taking away their soul. An amazing actor. Katherine Heigl. One of my favorite characters, Izzie Stevens. I will forever be a little heartbroken for you.

Really sucks how she went out. Most of her time on this show consisted of her being emotional and distracted. She barely ever did surgery. We never even got a feel for what specialty she would’ve had.
She had extreme prowess with children seasons 1-3 and following this cancer story I expected oncology or paediatrics. But, you’re right she never flourished, just like George and even the bleeding nurses.
She was a great doctor. She was quick on her feet and incredibly smart. If you look back to the show and pay attention you will see that. Just because she is not as ambitious and cut throat as christinia doesn’t make her a bad doctor, she was very good

That a lot of if & maybes, she simply made a mistake in a time no doctor can offered to make the tiniest mistake no matter what situation she was facing, Alex managed to keep his job and he had to deal with a wife who left and him and then later on deal with her medical bills (because she wasn't even decent enough to take care of her own bills) so there's no excuse. She simply made a a mistake (like everyone does from time to time) but she made at worst time possible.

Katherine was remarkable in this scene. Say what you want about her (and I myself haven't always liked what she's had to say about certain things), but her acting has been impressive throughout the series. Izzie annoys me about 90% of the time, but my heart really went out to her here. I can't imagine how the writers can keep her in the main cast, though, if she is not a doctor at the hospital, so I'm guessing that she will eventually get hired back, once Katherine returns from her hiatus.
13 years later and they did in fact not bring her back. But funnily enough - the stuff she was saying about the show making everyone in hollywood hate her ended up being completely true and people are finding out about that now. Everyone owes katherine an apology

She just went through cancer, her best friend dying and then colleagues doubting her work ability plus she felt like she needed to come back sooner cause the overarching merger and then after making a mistake after she was deceived by someone who she was maybe seeing as a new friend/new person to fill the void George left and then Richard mentions Alex which makes it seems he had something to do with it so I can see why Izzie was mad at Alex but at the end of the day she should've told Alex she needed a while to sort things out and then come back and work things out

So by this point, everyone has an idea of what their specialty is. Christina in cardio, Meredith in neuro, Alex in peds and George with trauma, but what was Izzies going to be? General Surgery? I know later on Meredith goes to general with Lexie in neuro (Jackson doing plastics, and April in trauma later on) but what was it going to be for her? She tried peds but quit, failed at Cardio and the drama she gets in every season keeps her from really expanding. Deny dying, Deny's ghost manifesting cancer. It seemed that Deny and Alex took a lot out of Izzie's character than needed and the same thing happened with Lexie (who went from Karev, to George, to Mark, to Jackson, and back to Mark). Maybe I'm missing something.

Shonda (I mean, anyone tbh) should be ready to work with all kinds of people. Even if Katherine didn't have the best attitudes, Shonda sure as hell isn't an angel. She has shown that she easily holds grudges and plays by favourites by the way she writes the show. It's like she is living in her own little world where she does whatever she wants with the characters. It would be alright if it wasn't for one thing: It's a TV show and audience matters the most. Shonda let her "disliking" for Katherine take over the way she controlled the character. Izzie from Season 1, 2 and 3 was great, but somewhat after that she started losing impact, and her character changed completely. Izzie became an annoying and bitchy character, as a way of Shonda making an allusion of what she actually though of Katherine as. Nevertheless, I still believe the acting was great, since it wasn't actually Katherine's fault.

In the end, when Katherine finally realized this, she wanted out. She couldn't work in a place where everyone considered her a bitch. The whole thing with Izzie not applying to win that award made sense to me, but Shonda and possibly everyone else interpreted that wrongly, as a way of Katherine telling her she didn't like participating in the show. I believe she simply thought that, compared to the others, she wasn't good enough, which she would have surely been able to work out if she had been given more support.
She wanted out and that's when Shonda lost the chance she had to make another great dramatic episode and instead made this forgettable excuse to make her leave, simply firing Izzie and making her last lines the worst level of bitchy I have ever witnessed. I did not recognize that Izzie.
Well I mean, I have heard that Shonda wanted Izzie to return in the finale, just for her to get shot and killed, hence making the drama we all love and are possibly scared of too, but Katherine did not show up to the filmings. I doubt it is true, but if it is, I can forgive Katherine for it.
Shonda portrayed Izzie as a bitch just because she did not like the actress, and that for me showed me how Shonda actually handled being the "boss" there.
Katherine may not have behaved the way Shonda wanted, but Shonda shouldn't have been so offended and shouldn't have taken so much revenge. Her own revenge had consequences on the show.

Izzie was a great character in first two seasons. I loved her story. She grew up at a trailer park, had a teenage pregnancy, she made her way through college, paid her fees. Amazing character. Even Addison said once that she's one of the best she's seen in years. But unfortunately everything went downhill after Denny nonsense! Her character became so annoying. I used to love izzie but I was glad they cut her off the show.
