    While I haven't played it yet, I've collected Cipher for a while because the art is amazing and if you don't care about the SR+ and R+ variants it's surprisingly easy to collect a full set. One booster box guarantees you every Common and Uncommon in a set, meaning all you need is to buy the SRs and R singles you're missing afterwards and only the variant art cards of very popular characters (usually restricted to the modern games' "waifus", you're generally safe in SNES, GBA or Tellius sets) go for ridiculous prices. Certainly easier than completing a Pokemon set and the art is better too.
    A cool thing about Cipher art is they often depict events from supports or backstory that we never got to see in-game. You can see her a younger Pent meeting Louise for the first time, but there's also young Greil and Elena, younger pre-possession Garon, young Silas standing up for Corrin, and "epilogue" characters like Daein Queen Micaiah, Queen Hinoka and King Leo. The "what if" cards are more famous, but I like these glimpses at actual canon events that happened offscreen.
    There's also some really funny joke cards, my favourite is a R+ Owain with a quote so long it covers almost the entire card... and it's a real line from his supports. But there's also Grommel about to be crushed by his own boulder.

    On another note, if you're interested in collecting Cipher there are quite a few sellers of Cipher cards in the collectors lounge.

    Also fun fact: I believe Cipher was the first place to confirm Limstella from FE7 was canonically non-binary. Their card doesn't have a male or female mark, while fellow Morphs Sonia and Ephidel are gendered.

    I used to love card games. Sadly, I never really got to PLAY any, cuz I was into Yu-Gi-Oh and nobody in my area actually PLAYED the game. Back when Cipher was still a thing, I ordered a few packs of cards from Japan, mostly just to collect them, since I love Fire Emblem and trading cards. Boy am I glad I did, it sucks that the game got shut down but I'm in love with my collection. I've never played the game though, I might consider it because of this video!

    This is directed to people who don't play Cipher, and a love letter to the active players:
    Hi. It's been more than 6 months since I last played Cipher but for the time I had been active, the community was awesome (except Anankos decks😠).
    The point is, they are really accepting to beginners. If you tell them so, most will actually try giving you advise. It was one of the warmest communities I've been. I lack the words to describe the community.
    Even my potato of a PC can run Cipher (with some difficulties though). So you are unlikely to find yourself having much trouble with that.
    The community is fairly small, but it is still pretty active. To this day I still receive many @Lackey_duelist myself. The best part is, is people from all around the world. Though there are some hours you'll get more matches, you can actually find matches anytime you can.
    I can't recommend it enough.
    Farewell.

    Man this reminded me of when I played chiper for like 1-2 months. Lyon is one of my favorite FE characters so I made a Purple/Blue deck with him as the lord where the main bulk of the deck was Risen cards. They have innate 0 atk but were cheap, their support recovered him, and I ran the support X flier where X was the number of allies you had. It often ended games with me having a hoard of zombies with my opponent praying I don't flip that specific support card off the top. A zero attack risen isn't scary, a risen that got +100 attack is terrifying.

    Man, I wish this game was still getting support. I remember having this really cool Risen Chrom vs Exalt Lucina duel with my sister. Wish we got a western release since this was probably the only card game I've ever been interested in actually playing physically other than maybe Vanguard.

    Got into Cipher when Fates came out in Europe. The amazing art drew me in. I also hadn't played any TCG since Pokémon ten years earlier so I was interested in actually playing it too.
    I have my final couple of booster boxes coming tomorrow. The rest of the sets I'm missing are sold for insane prices so my Cipher journey is nearing its end, unless I end up going for singles which I haven't really done before.
    The game itself is fun. I can easily recommend it. I was never interested in the actual meta but I loved making stupid gimmick decks and playing with my friends.

    I went to Japan about a year ago and during my Akihabura stop I deadass bought like $500 of cipher cards. Was it worth it, no, but I will never get a chance to buy them again so I have a collection for life. I followed Cipher before it "died" and was a fan of Cipherfaire while they still uploaded. I can't comment on how the deck plays because my brain is clogged by Yugioh and Legends of Runterra when it comes to card games but maybe I should give it a shot.
    On the note of that $500 worth of cards, I could not get the overclass Alm it was out of stock. I was so sad, ruined my day for about an hour till I remembered that I was lucky to even find any cards of a discontinued card game.
    Play a purple and red deck, with Rebbeca and Echoes overclass cards.

    10:24 can Zeke support Camus?

    • @JaDX243
      @JaDX243 Год назад +4

      Yes, and the same goes the other way around, as well as both for Sirius, since they all have different names. Some character have different names but all of their cards have skills that tell you should treat them as having the other name, like Greil who has skills that make him also have the name Gawain and vice-versa, but if they don't then different aliases also count as different characters

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy Год назад +1

      There's a few oddities like this, like Vallite Monarch Corrin not counting as Corrin, but one Lucina card having an ability that treats her as having the same name as Marth, meaning she can promote into Marth and Marth supports on her fail.

    • @JaDX243
      @JaDX243 Год назад +1

      @@BigKlingy Corrin is a bit weird bc Valla Corrin is supposed to be able to be class changed on top of either Corrin genders (avatar genders are considered different characters) but also there are 2 "Bridge" cards of both Corrins that can be used to evade with Valla Corrin, so they can basically evade with these cards while not self supporting with them. Lucina is actually super cool bc there's a pretty good deck (I call it Marcina) that revolves around starting with the Lucina cost 1 to abuse Blue's early acceleration and then class change into Marth

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy Год назад

      @@JaDX243 I also love the Danved card with the rule: "If you think Devdan and Danved are the same person, you can Class Change an ally Devdan into this card."
      That doesn't say anything about supports, so I assume Danved can legally support Devdan.

    Is there some kind of mechanism for acquiring cards for your personal collection you does everyone just immediately have limitless access to all of the cards in the game?
    Also, the idea that critical hits double your damage instead of triple your damage is blasphemy.

      The cipher meta has actually been developing a lot since it has discontinued.

    • @tame1773
      @tame1773 Год назад +6

      Metas can still develop even if there isnt going to be any new cards coming. A great example is Edison format in yugioh, which is a 13 year old format at this point thats still getting developed today.

    • @JaDX243
      @JaDX243 Год назад +6

      Metas aren't a static thing and even with no new cards new developments can still happens. When cipher just got discontinued, Corrin was considered the undisputed best deck in the game. Now, Roy and Chrom are way more popular and are considered to have pretty good Corrin matchups. Not to mention new decks that can be experimented with and be proven to be good like the recent rise of aggro Berserk Ike.
      So yes, do play Cipher :)

    • @sam7559
      @sam7559 Год назад

      @JaDX243 yeah meta is honestly more of a cycle as long as the game isn't inherently broken. Sure deck A is popular because of its strength, but players will eventually find deck B which is a good deck that has a good match up against A, and then deck C will be found to fight against deck B, and so on.
