    One thing to note: I did not have the subwoofer placed like in the video. I had them in the left corner. Obviously this was hard to film so we brought it out for filming purposes.

      Earbuds for Kef M400 250 euros for a pair of earbuds in replacement, for headphone bought new 50 euros (original price of the headphone 250 euros, or the price of this spare part), while the leatherette is very thin and quickly detaches itself? I expected about ten euros, which I usually put in the competing models. 25 euros would have seemed very expensive, too expensive considering the poor quality, but 250 euros (240 Pounds) is unfortunately not a joke, but an incredible bullshit and a deliberate merchant choice that corresponds to wear and tear. I have always been faithful to the Kef brand for 40 years, but I understand that we are actually taken for pigeons, frankly it is like urinating on us. Fortunately Kef is not a car manufacturer, he would sell the 4 tires at the same price as the new car! Also, we notice that the construction of these earpieces does not correspond to what they seem to be, that is to say a natural rubber of good thickness to withstand time. In short, a good sound quality, but of the whole issue manufacturing, and a sales policy that is obvious robbery.

    I have the KEF LS50W and am looking for a subwoofer. Which do you recommend? I'm considdering these KEf KC62, KEF KF92, Rel T7i, Rel T9i, SVS SB 3000, or SVS SB 2000 Pro. I don't really care about home theater, only about music. I don' have a lot of placement options, that's why this small KC62 sounds appealing. But how does it compare to the bigger ones, like the SVS or the REL. (I just now also watched your review on the SB 3000 and wonder what your opinion is on this).

      If I may and if you haven't already purchased, I'm playing Tannoy Cheviots in a medium room with lots of good quality A/B watts. You simply cannot beat REL T/7i hooked via the HL Speakon connection. I have one and it exploded my soundstage and dynamics, which was already really good. Just astonishing. I want to improve my 2-ch music, I don't want to feel that chest-thumping electronica bass the kids like. The RELs do this the best. The KC62 is smaller, easier to position and also should be hooked using speaker-level connection (with 16-gauge wire). Properly tuned and placed, the KC62s are 80% of the sound quality of the RELs. The KC62 cost quite a bit more expensive than the RELs. With the KC62, you are paying for the "cool" factor, smaller size, and maybe a little more placement flexibility. Both are really good.

    I'm new to hifi and bit confused about the ls50's sounding better after adding the kc62. You mentioned that the ls50's are less stressed as they don't have to produce the low frequencies. But the cross over setting on the sub impact it's own capabilities and cannot impact the ls50's. They will still try to produce all the frequencies unless there's a cross over in the chain. Would really help if you can elaborate, thanks.

      I'm pretty new to this too congrats on getting into it. I think what he was trying to say is that the ls50s may go down to a certain frequency but they may not play those notes well. The bass may be muddy or just not as good as floorstanding speaker. A more than capable subwoofer would help fill in those gaps where a bookshelf speaker may not excel. Hope this helps.

      There is a saying: "You don't know what you're missing until you've heard what you're missing."
      In this case, adding the lower frequencies with a quality sub to a pair of quality speakers has a knock-on effect that reinforces and improves the frequency response throughout the entire frequency range.
      If you have not heard this phenomenon in person, it's difficult to imagine. Thus, the quote above. As soon as you hear it, you understand instantly.
      Well, perhaps not technically, but you know what you're hearing. : )

    • @kjltube
      @kjltube Год назад

      What he was referring to was passing the speaker signal through the sub where a high pass version of the signal is then available on another pair of the sub terminals, which is less demanding (due to the lack of bass signal), for what ever speakers are then connected.
      In other words the sub splits the mid/high and low signals, and you connect your main speakers to the mid/high output (via a power amp).
      Hope that helps!

    Does the subwoofer limit the bass frequencies going to the main speakers? How do you connect the subwoofer to the audio system? I remember reading about the LS50's driver specs and the Fs is quite high at 79hz, that tells us that it struggles reproducing bass. Take away the mechanical stress and it should really take the Kefs to another level.

    When you connect the subwoofer like shown, you have no high pass filter on the main speakers, and therefore they cannot play louder without distortion, although the extended low frequency may give the impression. Your amplifier does not have an easier load either. If you want to use the high pass filter on the line output, you need a second stereo amplifier to drive the main speakers, or you need active speakers with the sub. Thats not to say that the shown solution does not work, but you need to be careful with the integration between sub and main speaker, because there is no filter on the main speaker, you are just adding extra low level, that needs to fit with the slope and natural roll off frequency of your main speakers. The linearity will depend on the position of the sub as well, and phase adjustment is missing on this quite expensive sub. The dispersion from any subwoofer is omnidirectinal, so this sub is not better because of the two drivers in that regard. Even though they are omnidirectional, two subs are often a better choice, if you want good integration. Especially if you cannot place the sub in the center, and you are sitting a bit close to the speakers.
    The Unicore feature may look fancy, but nothing comes for free, and the magnetsystems has two gaps, so if it is not twice the size magnet, you loose power (Bxl). The way you design a magnet system will influence the efficiency, so clever design can make a big difference. If the size of the magnet was a problem, they could have used neodymium instead, but that is more expensive.

    • @andreasheiden7122
      @andreasheiden7122 3 года назад

      @@edwardbalboa5528 now you tell me how that works... you would have to connect the ls50 to the Sub then, if it has an integrated filtered speaker output, which is definitely not the case... It would also not be a good solution by audiophile standards

      I'm with Andreas here. The signal to the speakers and their load on the amp is unchanged using a high level connection. The speakers are still trying to reproduce the entire frequency range. It's just you get extra bass from the sub.

      I use the Kef 8” cube. It won’t be as good as the kc-62 but it’s a great match for the lsx. Honestly, if you were looking at two sub woofers, it’s time to think about moving in from the lsx. They’re fine and all, but the ls50 are night and day better and I think they’d be a better upgrade path. You don’t need to go down the meta route - most people can’t tell the ls50 originals and the meta apart. But you will have no trouble telling the ls50 and lsx apart. You will require a good amp though
