    Hello doctor. You are doing an amazing job. Im BDS with 3 yrs of experience. I want to get into Dental Hygiene program but I saw the Requirement for Dental Hygiene colleges is about 60% to 70%, which I have in few subjects but not in others. Will my 12th marks being below the Requirement in Biology and Maths be a problem when I'm a 3 yr practicing Dentist already?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад +1

      Hello doctor! Thank you for your gentle appreciation. And with your BDS and the experience you have there is no reason why a college would reject your admission application. High school marks are considered although your BDS overpowers it all. Do not worry, go for it and we shall see you in Canada shortly!

    Sir I'm a dentist and completed my masters in forensic odontology from national Forensic Sciences University Gujarat. I'm planning to go to canada...sir guide me will it be better if i get into health care management programme one year in Conestoga College will that be useful or should I go to dental assistant by NDAEB exam ....which is better for work permit and PR sir

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад

      So doctor in recent times the colleges may offer you admissions but the visas offices tend to reject visas for applicants who choose courses that are below the applicant’s prior academic milestone. So with your masters in hand, it would be difficult for you to get a visa approval for a one year health management program. The problem is not the college. They will offer you the admission but its the visa offices.
      Now taking into account NDAEB, yes it is a good route for getting a job as an assistant but it is not much helpful with respect to PR. My recommendation is to seek express entry direct PR to Canada. You have a masters and other factors are IELTS, age, marital status, monetary support and more. So consider that as well doctor. Hope this helps.

    Can BDS graduates apply for denturist programs, or are these programs exclusively for recent A-level or Intermediate graduates? I've heard that BDS graduates may face visa challenges when applying for courses like denturist programs, given that they are considered college diplomas.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад +1

      You have hear correct doctor. Yes, you can apply and also get admission into denturist or dental hygiene as an international student, however, recently it has been observed that visa rejections have spiked for BDS grads coming to Canada for a course lower than what they already earned. So a degree earned as strong as BDS is observed to be rejected for a diploma that is technically a step down from a degree. However, we must also mention the other side of the coin. There are exceptional acceptances for courses in health management and administrations and they are diplomas as well. So we must be very careful when choosing a course. Denturist may not be the best option as of 2023 doctor.

    Hello doctor
    I have just completed my bds in Jan 2022 and now I’m planning to do some course in Canada.. looking at all the benefits of PR, I’ve opted for this country
    Many of my friends and seniors they are doing PGD in public health, health administrative and health informatics
    I don’t know about the job opportunities but since many of the people are applying to these course, do you think the time I will complete my course it might get saturated.
    Also these are all 1yr course and to get 3yrs work permit you need to do a 2nd yr course too.. so what you’ll suggest?
    Plus is dental hygienist better than these courses in terms of salary and PR?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  2 года назад +1

      Hello doctor firstly congratulations on becoming a dentist! Truly a magnificent achievement doc!
      Now you concepts about the academic years and work permit is completely correct. And yes recently a lot of dentists have chosen the courses that you have mentioned. However, at The Tooth Factory I recommend a certain fleet of courses that serve two functions for us:
      1.) keep a strong contender for PR which means the work permit is longer and the points are higher for these courses
      2.) it acts as a promising back up career until our journey as dentists in Canada is finished. The NDEB journey can take long at times and until then we must have a strong career in the back that allows us to consistently afford out lives and also afford our education and raise a family.
      Therefore, the courses I recommend are as follows:
      MASTERS IN PUBLIC HEALTH:
      THE TOOTH FACTORY Video: ruclips.net/video/tTYXcnDll6w/видео.html
      Average Cost: $15,000 per semester, total is about $50,000-$60,000
      1.) Lakehead university- 2 years
      Link:
      2.) University of Ottawa - 2 years
      Link: catalogue.uottawa.ca/en/graduate/master-public-health/#overviewtext
      3.) Memorial University - 2 years

      4.) Simon Fraser - 2 years
      Link: www.sfu.ca/fhs/graduate/prospective/mph.html
      5.) Western University - 2 years or 1 Year
      Link: www.schulich.uwo.ca/publichealth/
      (Choose 2 years since we will need 2 years of work permit with it)
      MASTERS OF HEALTH ADMINISTRATION:
      THE TOOTH FACTORY video: ruclips.net/video/MTS775m0CGs/видео.html
      Average Cost: $10,000-16,000 per semester, total is about $45,000-65,000
      1.) University of Ottawa - 2 years
      Link: catalogue.uottawa.ca/en/graduate/master-health-administration-mha/
      2.) Dalhousie University - 2 years
      Link: www.dal.ca/academics/programs/graduate/health-administration/program-details/master-program.html
      3.) University of British Columbia - 2 years
      Link: www.grad.ubc.ca/prospective-students/graduate-degree-programs/master-of-health-administration
      4.) Ryerson University - 2 years (last option)
      Link: www.ryerson.ca/tedrogersschool/master-health-administration-community-care/
      DENTAL HYGIENE DIPLOMA:
      THE TOOTH FACTORY video: ruclips.net/video/ZI2LgxALG9A/видео.html
      Average Cost: $10,000-12,000 per semester, total cost is: $60,000-70,000
      Average duration: 2-3 years (majority courses are 3 years)
      Link to all Dental hygiene courses in Ontario:
      www.ontariocolleges.ca/en/programs/health-food-and-medical/dental-hygiene?q=dental%20hygiene&page=0
      Instruction: under the search box, write hygiene and it will narrow down colleges that provide hygiene with open or closed status.
      My personal recommendation are:
      1.) Confederation College
      2.) Fanshawe College
      3.) Niagara College
      4.) Cambrian College
      HEALTH CARE/OFFICE ADMINISTRATION DIPLOMA:
      Average cost: $ 30,000 entirely for full course
      Conestoga - 2 years
      3 Campuses: Guelph, Doon and Kitchner
      Link: www.conestogac.on.ca/fulltime/health-office-administration
      I do want to mention that dental hygiene used to be one of the most popular and chosen courses but due to increasing applicants and competitive nature of the program, the admission rate has dropped significantly. Therefore, I would consider the other options first.
      Hope this helps.

    Hi sir I'm currently in bds final year and planning to move canada for further studies, but as i saw the expenses, I'm confused to choose any course, please tell me, can i afford my expenses with part time job? And would it affect my studies too? And what should i do to get a longer work permit?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад

      Hello doctor, I understand your situation. In terms of coming to Canada with the purpose of attaining PR and then DDS through NDEB, our first goal is to choose a course that is most feasible to us. Keeping in mind duration, expenses and difficulty as well as getting a 3 year work permit post graduation, I believe in 2023-2024, this is our best choice:
      HEALTH CARE/OFFICE ADMINISTRATION DIPLOMA:
      Average cost: $ 30,000 entirely for full course
      Conestoga - 2 years
      3 Campuses: Guelph, Doon and Kitchner
      Link: www.conestogac.on.ca/fulltime/health-office-administration
      Part time job is able to help you afford your semester fees and living expenditure for sure however,we may have live extremely calculatingly. It would not affect your studies as long as the discipline of staying in track with assignments and exam prep is maintained. It is definitely a difficult journey full of academic, emotional and financial turmoil. But the grass is definitely greener on the other side doctor.
      Hope this information helps!

    • @TheToothFactory

      That is a good question. So the answer is subjective due to the provinces of residence. For example, it is nearly impossible to find a DA job in Alberta without a RDA license from within Canada itself. However, in Ontario there is a higher probability of finding the dame job without a RDA. For example, when i was in Ontario, I used to work as a dental assistant there without having a dental assistant license. Then when we moved to Alberta, I was unable to find a job soI had to get through the exams of NDAEB and go the RDA license and began a dental assisting job in Alberta.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад

      Hello, I am glad you asked this question because there is a significant misconception around the subject of job prospects of a male hygienist. However, Canada is one place that does not work on gender discrimination and fortunately when we apply for a job as a Dental Hygienist, the job application does not ask whether we are a male or female. There are two areas that an employer will determine our eligibility on:
      1.) Dental Hygiene Academics (certification and attempts of qualification taken)
      2.) Inter-Personal skills as a health care professional.
      I personally know a few male hygienists myself and they are very happy to be working for dentists and clinic owners who are females as well.
      So yes, the clinics will hire you if you are a male international candidate as well.

    I M A DENTIST FROM INDIA,, took 3.5 hrs more than usual to finish dentistry with 65% average, I m currently pursuing health care administration from Conestoga college, but I aspire to apply for mph or mha as well , as recommended by you lakehead nd Ottawa universities have good acceptance rates but as I visited the lakerhead university site,, for mha and mph,, they have highlighted that the courses aren’t fit for dentists/ medical docs,, can I get any information as to if the university is still accepting applicants,, also my last query is if I try to register with Ndeb, would I be successfully registered nd eligible to appear form exams given my academic records

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад

      So University like Lakehead or Ottawa tend to steer international dentists away from Mph and MHA when we inquire because they do not want us to use MPH or MHA as a degree to jump to dentistry with. They want us to stay in that field permanently so the community can get more MHA MPH graduates. But you can still apply for those programs and successfully complete them.
      As far as your academic record is concerned, I do not think it would hinder your NDEB application. What is important is that you are a dentist and applying to NDEB. So yes go for it doctor and take on NDEB process.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад +1

      Hey doc! Glad to hear about you MDS. The NDEB does not look at GPA. The NDEB looks for equivalency which means, since you have MDS and got good marks, that is where their evaluation ends as they know you are equivalent to a DDS in Canada and are able to directly challenge the boards. Your MDS should be fine. Now if you ever were to try to get into a college for any program that is when GPA are checked but eventhen you are one step ahead. Your MDS is your shield doc. Hello doctor, so for becoming a dentist in Canada, there is a route for BDS to DDS or MDS to MDS.
      In your case with your Periodontist Degree as MDS, you are qualified to take the DSCKE exam which is a specialty exam for MDS to MDS.
      You are also eligible to take the AFK-ACJ-NDECC exams which are for BDS to DDS(general dentistry license)

    Hello doc ,are you sure IELTS score is required for an international student to join a hygienist course in Canada even if he/she is a PR?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад

      Hello, yes so how this concept works is, one way or the other english pre-requisite must be fulfilled. So if you apply to a college for a diploma or a bachelor’s degree then they will ask for proof of english in one of two ways:
      1.) high school completed in English recognised by Canada or
      2.) pro-efficiency exam like IELTS in case high school was not completed in Canada
      Similarly if you apply to MHA or MPH which are master’s degrees then we need to provide the previous education (which would be a bachelor’s) done in english recognised by Canada or a pro efficiency exam like IELTS.
      Now international students who have not completed high school or a bachelor’s in Canada will have to provide english exam IELTS regardless of the residency status.
      Hope this helps in clarifying the concept behind IELTS

      Thank you doc, so I always try to clarify this confusion with our viewers that your bachelor's will not make your student visa be rejected. You definitely are over-qualified but that does not mean they will not give you admission or not a student visa. They want you to take the courses and come abroad to study, it is how their economy grows essentially. There is no reason I see in which your visa could be rejected considering all other requirements are also met like the IELTS scores and more.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  2 года назад +3

      So yes I have been getting feedback from international agencies and their clients that dental hygiene is not being prioritised by the agents. This however is not due to over-qualification. The reason why I know this because I know several BDS grads in the past who have done hygiene in Canada. The reason is now a days health programs are inviting students with less restrictions and therefore the agencies are having an easier admissions rate. So they are promoting health courses. I too used to be in hygiene at one point. See our goal ultimately is to achieve PR and be eligible to achieve DDS in Canada. In that case, take the entry with one of your top 3 priorities and if that entails health courses then might as well include them in your list. I hope this helps Ashly. 😊

      If you wish doctor, we can talk over our free zoom meetings to discuss your concerns about dentistry in Canada. Sometimes discussions can help bring clarity to making a decision as NDEB may be lengthy and painful, it may just be the same length in time for you to achieve NDEB license as it would be for you to go through MPH MHA or DH.

      What I mean to say is it is worth giving NDEB a chance considering your extensive background in dentistry with a MDS on your wings as well as the experience in dentistry that you hold. See establishing a backup career is definitely a good idea especially when you immigrate to a new country however, when you do become a hygienist or get a job with your MHA or MPH, you may miss Dentistry and feel like, I could have at least attempted dentistry. So to avoid this feeling of loss, NDEB can be given a chance. However, doctor it is completely a person preference as everyone have their own circumstances and reasons. I completely understand that perspectives. I only elaborate so much to be able to protect the dentistry in your profile and of course if there is even 1% chance that I can contribute to having you become a dentist in Canada then I will try my best because the grass is definitely greener on the other side, it is just that the grass rakes a lot of water, sunlight, fertiliser and time.

    @THE TOOTH FACTORY Hello doctor can you please tell me the benefits of licensed dentist or DDS degree dentist which is better option for us.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад +1

      Hey doc, so the licensed dentist can only practice dentistry and own a clinic. This prevents us from studying MDS or teaching at a university if that is what you goal is. But on the other hand it is cheaper to go through the licensing process by a huge amount of money. It also saves time since three exam can take up to 2 years to clear only. A degree route opens more doors like teaching, or MDS with practicing as well. Although it is more expensive than license about 4 times as much cost. With degree we need a PR and it is a must while licensing does not need a PR from us. The degree it self is 2-3 years long let alone the AFK time. So it is a little longer.
      Now the biggest factor is the quality of development or skills in dentistry. Dentistry is far different and even though the licensing procedure can get us a way to begin practicing, it will not teach us the standards and Canadian norms. So this is my personal opinion that to become a dentist, licensing is perfect but to become a successful and reputed dentist, i believe degree route is more advantageous. Hope this helps doc.

      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад

      Hello doc. So there are two ways to approach dental hygiene in Canada. You can do the Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene as a degree at a University or an Advanced Diploma in Dental Hygiene at a College. Uni will be longer, more expensive and more competitive but will also have higher points for PR purpose. The colleges will be easier to get into, cheaper than uni and shorter in duration. Now, with your marks a GPA will be calculated by the institution you apply to or by WES or other credentials services that they ask for. That GPA will be used to get you an admission. Our percentages from back home do not really show true potential as 70 might be one of the highest marks in your batch (which it usually is in BDS) but according to the GPA it could be 3.0 . That is not true potential right? So that is something out of our control doc. But other than that you absolutely can apply to both routes.

    How to be a oral and maxillofacial Surgeon in canada after BDS in india ?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад +1

      So the Oral Surgery being a speciality of Dentistry, one must complete the degree DDS and then apply for residency onwards. So after BDS, we would go for AFK exam and score high enough to apply for DDS advanced placement. Then after clearing the DDS course and achieving the degree in dentistry in Canada, we may then apply to OS residency and then study that for another 6 years. After BDS this entire process can take upto 10 years.

      Hello doctor, thank you for your kind words towards us and our efforts.
      In your case, here are some courses that can help and all your doubts are answered with link below as well.
      Also dental hygiene is a good choice diploma or degree that does not matter for employment but if you wish to study further then bachelors degree is better but if your end goal is a job and PR then diploma is better and faster and cheaper.

    can i do masters after getting the license?

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  2 года назад

      If we speak of dentistry then after the NDEB provided license for general practitioners for dentistry, we cannot apply to a masters program however during the NDEB process if we choose to go through the Degree completion program which occurs after AFK exam then we will be given not just a GP license but a dental degree (DDS) which for sure allows us to apply to MDS.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  2 года назад

      Unfortunately direct practice is not possible however, the NDEB process is the most effective and shirted way to become a licensed dentist in Canada and in matter of other courses, they have be graduated with to be able to practice them.

    Sir can we do DDS after getting license in Canada sir.By NDEB equivalence process

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад

      The only way you can do DDS with NDEB process is once you take AFK exam, you must have a pretty high score about 85 and above and apply to universities for a DDS course. If you wish to get the degree DDS and not just the license then you do not need to go through the whole NDEB process. Just the AFK is fine.

    • @jerosan_
      @jerosan_ 3 года назад

      @@TheToothFactory sir for me the doubt is after getting equivalence can we do DDS

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  3 года назад

      Yes doctor, you would have to be qualified to get admission in to a DDS program which requires one of two things. A High AFK score in the NDEB process and second is getting a bachelors degree. Now once you get the entire license and still wish to do DDS, you can use your AFK score to apply but the AFK score cannot be more than 18 months old. So technically it is important to consider starting the NDEB process with the goal of going into DDS.

    Hi Doctor, Thank you so much for sharing this detailed information. I am BDS and MHA graduate from India, got a doubt as I want to do Dental Hygiene course in Canada, I have 50.6% in 10th (English, Maths and Science) and 54.6% in 12th (English, Biology and Chemistry) I do not had Maths in 12th grade. Do I be still eligible to apply for Dental Hygienist? If so pls suggest a route. That would be really helpful.

    • @TheToothFactory
      @TheToothFactory  Год назад

      Hello doctor, thank you for the details to help me understand the circumstances.
      Background:
      Dental hygiene is an extremely saturated market for international applicants. If you were to apply there will be a higher chance of deferral due to lack of seats as of 2023-2024 for this course particularly.
      Math Requirement:
      High school or university math is a requirement for the admission in hygiene advanced diploma at of the institutions and when one does not have math, the college makes you take a prequalified math course to yelp you fulfil that requirement.
      Recommendations:
      With your qualifications, if you are choosing to come to Canada on student visa then Hygiene may not be a successful choice as well. I would recommend considering the following:
      - Dental Assistant then transfer to Dental Hygiene
      - MHA or health office administration (diploma of health admin)
      And if RDH is your final goal then come to Canada on student visa with the courses mentioned above and once you are safe on route to PR or have PR, then consider RDH as a course and ultimately at The Tooth Factory, we always recommend to consider DDS through NDEB as well since you have it in your background and it is a promising career.
      I understand that this answer may not be what you would have anticipated to hear however, I did not want to misguide you so I displayed the current scenario in Canada pertaining to Dental hygiene very truthfully. Apologies for the inconvenience my answer has caused.

      Hello, so the procedure is that when the college reviews your documents and they realise that they need a math course from you. They will offer you an upgrading program. This is generally an online course worth about a month’s time and once you finish that online course (like math for example), the college will accept your application. Many people get what is called a conditional offer letter of admission. This means, they will offer you this maths upgrade course and also offer you admission at the same time but with the condition that you succeed at that upgrade course.
