"I can't even imagine a world without kayfabe..." David Choe's whole interview hurts so bad 😭 Rest in peace, Ed. Thank you for everything you did to make this world a better place
why does it keep hurting so bad that ed is gone, all of these memories, this channel got me through the pandemic, while my wife was diagnosed with an aneurysm, two months at Stanford, couldn't visit, she survived but our lives forever changed., so alone during that time, but Jim and Ed were there for me, with their show... We love you ed, love you Jim, so sorry everything that has happened...
Seconding the request for a Rugg/Piskor comic collab. Definitely cool to see David doing his thang still. Thanks for having him on for an update to the archives!
DVDASA changed my life. I wouldn't draw every day if it weren't for Dave. I wouldnt know Cartoonist Kayfabe if it weren't for Dave. Thank you guys so much
I had never heard of David Choe... or Geof Darrow.... until I watched this episode. THANK YOU for these artist exposures. :) Thanks for another great episode, gents!
First time viewer, tuned in for David Choe, but holy shit I loved X-Men Grand Design I didn’t realize this was the same Ed! I bought a autographed copy of volume 1 off eBay when they first released!
yeah man one day i hope we get the ultimate kayfabe comic. just a one shot thats all we need. Ed and Jim AND at least a little Tom in there doing just a sick outlaw comic.
I love seeing Choe in here, he clearly loves doing these, and I might be making some assumptions, but it seems like he needs other creatives to get all the thoughts swimming around in his head out that he cant share with anyone around him in his daily life, being on CK gives him a chance to speak to other creatives and get everything hes stewing on out of his system.
This channel… it’s amazing to watch the world’s most important archive on comics history, the craft of making comics AND interviews that go deep into the experience of being a comic creator…it’s always refreshing to hear that EVERY successful artist had the same growing pains we all experience. Bravo team Kayfabe and well done to David Choe for honestly sharing so much.
A while back you guys were looking at something that had the word "rugged" in a big font and joked you could start a production company together named "RuggEd!" A Street Angel/Switchblade Shorties one-shot, with each of you doing half so you can draw each-others characters, would be fun!
Next time you guys have Choe on please ask him if he has any plans for working on comics or doing covers in the future. My collection of Choe comics and covers needs a new entry.
Choe one of my fav artists even outside comics and great to hear we hit all the same shops, but I'm one of those people who got a job so never knew lol One day hopefully we can cross paths
Neil Gaiman has a blog post / article called "Why Defend Freedom of Icky Speech?" relating to absolute freedom of speech. It can be difficult to accept but no government should be able to say what is not acceptable to say, write, or draw.
Dave is a Poser. Got lucky with money. But his art is weird, his personality is a mental circus but listening to him talk about anything is quite entertaining. What a character man.

Each new interview I see David in, he seems to be in a better headspace. Which makes me happy.

So excited to listen, I couldn't click fast enough - last few vids were so inspiring to get me off my arse and go harder.
Pause :)
I gotta echo Choe's sentiment. Personally, Cartoonist Kayfabe definitely saved me during the pandemic and it continues to inspire me daily.

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
That original CreeD art that I sent him is probably worth more than all of his Facebook stocks. What a lucky guy.
Or…you may have a very valuable piece of artwork if you didn’t throw away the fanart that was sent your direction.
❤🎉
David is a rare breed and I am thankful for the love he shows you boys
