This movie was awesome! People didn’t like it because they wanted a standard cliche horror movie, but this one goes outside the box. Speaking of The Box, this movie loosely reminds me of it. There are a few problems I do have with it but I think some of them will be alleviated with a second viewing. If you like cosmic/philosophical/psychological horror you will probably like this. Definitely gave me some creeps.
Okay everyone 😂 hope this helps , I just watched this movie today. It isn’t the best horror movie there is but it isn’t too bad either. The movie is honestly really interesting and will get you thinking during and before. Has a lot of plot twists and things like that. It’s a decent movie but don’t judge the movie by its trailer 😂 the movie is honestly a lot better than I thought it was gonna be by watching the trailer
Do you know what THANK YOU. Thank you for a genuine review instead of people to fast to become critics. Very insightful and the ONLY reason I actually watched this film. You should do more
Okay so this movie was actually interesting. I normally look to the comments if I am going to watch a film and mostly people THOUGHT this would be a boring horror. But it was more a detective film with suspenseful supernatural elements. Actually kept me watching. I liked it
This movie was way better than the trailer made it out to be. Much more of a psychological thriller/horror than a teen scream. I really really enjoyed it surprisingly!
Amazing movie! No other words to describe it. Amazing through and through. You'll not be disappointed if you love deep, though provoking themes with a lot of nuance and ambiguity. You need to get your brain moving and engage at all times to understand what's happening. The prologue alone is a movie within the movie. I was hooked immediately. The cinematography and sound design was spot on. Very eerie atmosphere and tone. Color grading was pitch perfect. I'm giving this a 7.5 out of 10 for the sheer boldness on display here. It's not for everyone, but if you're the type of person who enjoys strange movies, then give this a shot.
Thank you I’ve been reading good comments on here and been holding off on watching this for a good bit now but something told me to come back an watch the trailer for the first time in a long time and I’m ready now especially after the good comments 👍🏻
Stop watching the trailer and just watch the movie. It's shockingly full of depth and quality that continues to build into an extremely bizarre and ambitious piece of cosmic horror few mainstream films dare to ever go.
Yeh this trailer didn’t make the movie that interesting tbh if I saw the trailer before I saw the movie I probably wouldn’t have watched the movie but that’s just a chance
One of the most creative and well-crafted horror movies I've ever seen! Don't let this trailer, the critics or the box office discourage you from watching the movie. It is _soooo_ worth it!!!! It feels like a miracle that an unusual and ambitious film like that got made, but I am so glad it was!!
@@MacMFer way to miss the point. *obviously* the implied meaning of the word "critic" in my comment was "professional media critic" not the "random guy from the internet gives his opinion" kind of critic. my comment was targeted to the kinds of people who think that the opinion of a "professional" critic (meaning someone who gets paid for it) is somehow elevated over the opinion of (as I see in the comments here) many, many, many "unprofessional" people giving their opinion. if you are trying to correct someone, please make sure to _first_ ask yourself if you've acutally understood what they were trying to say or if you're intentionally trying to misinterpret them. although, thank you for your advice on my language proficiency - as an english teacher from germany with certified C2 skills, I'm always greatful for constructive criticism by random people on the internet.

GUYS ITS THE BEST HORROR THRILLER MOVIE I HAVE SEEN IN A WHILE. MOVIE IS DEFINITELY WORTH TO WATCH. DONT LET ANYONE LET RUIN THIS FOR YOU.ITS 10 OUT OF 10 RECOMMENDED
Guys, if you read this, I highly recommend you all read the comic book this movie is adapting. It's a fantastic blend of detective thriller and disturbing gory horror. I hope the movie is just hiding the good stuff and is actually pretty accurate to the badass comic. But there's already one bad change, that cliche urban legend summoning ritual 3 day rule bullshit, wasn't in the comic. In the comic The Empty Man just happens one day and was at first considered a horrible pandemic level virus that makes people kill themselves until our detective main characters uncovered a more sinister and supernatural truth to The Empty Man.
Will the empty man film be creepy and scary? Will it be like candyman or nightmare on elm street? Is the empty man more like Freddy or the slender man? Will it get good reviews? Will it be worth bro see a matinee in the theater?
this movie deserves so much more recognition, these type of horror movies always leave me thinking about them for weeks/months. not for everybody but give it a try if you want to watch something a little different.
It's not for everyone. Only for certain kind of individuals. Maybe those who are higher minded or have a different kind of intellectual capacity. Just look at the comments. Majority calling it "sh*tty" or bad movie. Sad because this film is an incredible horror theme. It really brings up interesting themes and is strong in material. This movie stayed in my.mind.for.months. but everyone is different.
I have to say that I didn't dislike this movie at all. Not the best horror movie, but don't be fooled by the "bla"-man name that we are all used to relate to thrashy horror movies. Worth watching it.
I watched this movie over the weekend..wasn't expecting much..but I was pleasantly surprised. I really liked it.. The trailer doesn't do it justice.. I loved the overall tone of the movie.. I loved the original opening...loved the eerie chanting... It's definitely worth a watch.

The content it address ....im so surprised Hollywood that kind of philosophical knowledge to be in this film
One of the best psychological horror movies I've ever watched, definitely worth watching from first second till the last one. It's one of those movies where you cannot skipa single second or else you'll the miss the whole movie, it was done so creatively and the horror element wasn't mainly focused on jump scares, it was mostly psychological and that type of horror is way more terrifying. Highly recommend 9/10!
I think I started snoozing after the first "booo I am scary" moment of the trailer.... so generic. I am really becoming immune. Horror movies need to get creative. I mean everything is obvious scary. The old films, classics work better for me. Because they start in an environment that is like any other. Everything being obviously dark and gooey is just hitting the yawn factor for me.
I want a Scary Movie remake sequal or whatever and once scene where the MC calls the killer like 5 other dudes show up because they all have similar names.

The movie is actually VERY WELL MADE I’d recommend watching it the movie is also very scary and disturbing I’d recommend watching it alone at night to make it more intense and give you that feeling like something’s behind you Also it’s really hard to find a good horror movie these days, but this one was very well made and directed. The script was very well made, the actors are perfect, the plot is interesting overall 10/10

You guys are trashing the movie because of the name but I bet half of you didn’t watch it. It’s actually not bad at all, more psychological thriller than horror tho
A masterpiece with a digression into the real history, which is hidden from us. I don’t understand how this film was allowed to reach a wide audience, or those who created us and govern us themselves filmed it.
Much more a supernatural thriller. Many horror fans that are used to modern gimmicks, like endless jump scares and the more gore the better were disappointed. I liked it because it wasn't really horror. It really built the dread.

Movie was really good. Ugh, not cosmic horror though. That is such a over used statement.
This movie deserves more recognition that it ever had. Is complex, ambiguous and full of symbols that just enriched the final product
The best example of why you need surround sound for a horror movie. Some of the best I've heard.
One of the most creative and well-crafted horror movies I've ever seen! Don't let this trailer, the critics or the box office discourage you from watching the movie. It is _soooo_ worth it!!!! It feels like a miracle that an unusual and ambitious film like that got made, but I am so glad it was!!

I don't get it. I still believe that it is gonna bomb hard nevertheless.
