My first ever PC was a prebuilt that my family purchased way back in 1998, and boy was it a bad one even by the standards of the time: 300 MHz Intel Celeron, 32 MB RAM, 4 MB S3 PCI graphics, a generic mobo, generic power supply, and a 4 GB hard drive with a 4 KB bad sector thrown in for good measure. The damn thing spat out BSODs like a broken vending machine, and because we were poor AF at the time, we kept chugging along with this thing for 10 years. Why did we purchase such a crappy machine? Aside from the fact that it was one of the cheapest options available and we're complete noobs to PCs, it was also an all-black PC in a time when beige boxes were the norm. It looked cool, and that was enough for us. Even at a young age, I already had a bad taste in my mouth for prebuilts and since then, I always preferred to either pick out the parts myself and have someone build it for me. Eventually, I gained the skills to build one myself, and it was quite a rewarding experience. It's like the IKEA effect, but for computers.
Haha, your story is hilarious and relatable.I'm sure your first PC was a bit of a lemon, but it sounds like you have some fond memories of it. And that's what matters most.but I'm glad that you were able to gain the skills to build your own PC.

Great video! I've been thinking about buying one for a while now, and your video has helped me make a more informed decision.
Glad I could help!
Totally agree they can be problematic 😅
Just because a PC has a high-end graphics card doesn't mean it's a good deal.
