    I have been following your videos from the start until I get to this point. I like how you practically explain every note and measure. Makes learning very easy. I feel I have a real piano teacher beside me. Thank you... You are helping more people than you'll ever know. 😊

    I was about to give up as I just couldn't figure out the left hand fingering...but then I was doubly encouraged as I'm a senior who recently started shaking, and thought I would have to give up my ten years of self instruction...until I noticed you shake a bit, and apparently that's okay! Thanks so much!

      You are welcome. My left hand shakes a little. I sometimes steady it with my thumb against the piano below the keys. Sometimes I brace one finger against another. You will find methods you can use to still play accurately while shaking.

    Thank you for your instruction, like a real piano teacher. Totally agree with holding back the pedaling on certain measures.

    I don't seem to have a knack for the piano, but I make up for that by persistence and taking your advice. I've been working on this song for a while and glad to try some better fingering. Thanks once again for your help.

      You are welcome. Knack or not, I'm glad you are trying the piano out. You don't need a knack, just a desire.

    This is awesome and I am thankful for your instruction with proper fingering. I am going to begin using you for my sight-reading. It's better to start here to reduce time in learning and making mistakes. I copy my songs, color code, and mark up sheet before I even begin playing. Thank you for guiding me

    Great videos! Very helpful as I am kind of stuck on a few of these last songs. I've got "At Last" figured out quite well, but this one and a few others have thrown me for a loop. Will keep at it!

      For the very first LH C chord I am using 2-3-5 instead of 2-4-5, feels more comfortable with index finger strength, any dis-advantage to that approach? Since watching this 3 days ago I've been able to get through the whole thing! Just working on the dynamics now

    Your videos are very helpful. How long would you say it takes to complete the Alfred’s 1 book for a total beginner and to reach this piece? I would like to know if I am on progress :)

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  3 года назад +1

      It is different for everybody, but I give a person about a year per book until the more advanced books, then it can take 2 or 3 years per book.

      @@LetsPlayPianoMethods Thank you for your response! Very helpful. I have never played an instrument before, nor read music. I started in mid January with a tutor (albeit over Zoom!), and I am enjoying it! I’ve mainly been working through the basics with the books Piano Time and Piano Works, and we are now also going to do some bits with Alfred’s soon. Just wanted to check I was on track - but get everybody is different and that I am a complete beginner!

    Thank you so much for this lesson. I am very interested in learning the fingering style that you learned you mention in the beginning. Do you give lessons online or in person?

    Hey! Thanks for all your videos. They are quite helpful! I am very confused on a dynamic marking in this book that you didn't mention in your video. The first measure on page 97 (measure 14) says "cresc." You didn't mention it in your video and it doesn't seem to make sense anyway. Measure 16 has a crescendo marking "

    • @LetsPlayPianoMethods
      @LetsPlayPianoMethods  4 года назад +1

      Sometimes these books try a little too hard, in my opinion, in helping interpret the music. You can put in a slight cresc where it is marked, but it is not required. The other marking for the half notes is pretty much always done. I should have mentioned the first cresc, but didn't. However, there are other places where crescendoes and diminuendos can be placed depending on how you feel the music.

      @@LetsPlayPianoMethods Hey thanks. Remember, I am new... so if a composer just writes cresc. like that, how are we supposed to know when to stop the crescendo... maybe even if it is a piece the player has never heard before... I assume you just sort of decide what sounds the best

    I really wish people who make these self help videos would properly identify in a way that is easy to find the exact book that they use for their examples. I have several editions of Alfred's Adult Piano Course, and not one of them has the song "Over The Rainbow" on page 96. One of them does not even have a page 96. Yet they all claim to be Alfred Adult Piano" courses. Which one is he using? The links in the text description section of this video are no help because they lead me to to pages that have several books, or to other videos. I was unable to locate one by Arien and Harburg, as he specifies. How confusing.

      @ There are many different books published by Alfred that have the very same title with different practice pieces on different pages. Some have pieces that are not in other versions of the book. Lucky you if in your book this piece appears on page 96. Anyway, for me that was a year ago. I've since moved on.
