      Once that lead has touched the bottom slowly put your rod on the rest while peeling line from your reel to avoid dragging that lead across the bottom then pull the line back in and tighten up slowly until you feel resistance then either fix the bobbin or slacken off depending if your fishing tight or slack lines

    Hi Carl! I've started fishing in an artificial lake where apparently there are Carps and Dorados (Argentina) and your videos have helped a lot since I was only used to fishing in the sea. But I'm kind of worried I'm doing something wrong. I've fished almost daily for the past 2 months and I haven't felt more than two bites in this whole time. Is this normal in winter? I've casted near reeds, trees and other features but also in the open middle of the lake.

    • @baracuda6613
      @baracuda6613 2 года назад +1

      In the Winter carp can be slow... maybe try casting in deeper water and not so near the bank. Otherwise try new bait. For example: On day 1 you fish with corn at 5 meters. On day 2 also with corn but near the bank on 2 meters. There isnt really a rule on how to catch carp. you just have to try out different thinks (:

    • @benjamin3483
      @benjamin3483 2 года назад

      @@tkwkV0 try a bit of prebaiting with pellets, since they don't really feed the fish but it will get them tot feed, one of the most important things in winter is tot stay on top of the Carp, they will be in a few big groups and wont move a lot, so it is really important to locate the fish. Do this by using pva bags and a small pop-up rig. I once had the same, but once in located them, i caught loads of them.

      Ive always struggled with this mate ive found that doing a good half hour to an hour research on each spot is necessary, facebook usually has quite active communities/pages and pretty much any water you can think of has been asked about before loads of times by likeminded people, you just have to search say 'Fake Lake Fishing' on the facebook search bar and change filters to 'posts' or you can just create a post yourself in a local/regional fishing group asking about fishing rights and youll end up with an answer. If you go down the google route then ive found most of the info is usually outdated and the waters have either changed hands or sometimes are now free to fish - in my area anyway

  • @Koi-c7n
    @Koi-c7n 2 года назад +1

    Isn't it better to use a back lead? Then the line lies on the bottom and the fish can not touch it. Of course, this only works for shallow lakes with a similar structure.
    The washing line method causes a vertical line against which the carp can swim. Then you have a scaring effect again, don't you?
    But of course your success proves you right. Keep it up!

    • @fishingtutorials
      @fishingtutorials  2 года назад +1

      Vertical lines are far less likely to spook carp than horizontal ones. Reed stems, lilly pads and weeds all grow vertically. Also the line is slack, unlike when using a backlead :)

    The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

      Red is the first colour to disappear from the visible light spectrum in water but it doesn't happen until about 30ft in clear water and anything that appears red on the surface doesn't become invisible, it just appears black or grey instead.

      @@fishingtutorials Use stealth in your approach, get on your knees, stalk the fish. It's fishing, not coffe and feet up. This is too much chuck it and chance. Whilst you're messing about with unsafe rigs who's watching your rods? What happens if it's a drop back? What about birds, ducks? Just too much faffing to be proper fishing. Take this as constructive criticism and think about your approach to fishing. Just because you film it and put it out there does not make it right, safe or legal.

    • @fishingtutorials
      @fishingtutorials  2 года назад +1

      It's actually quite a precise method, not just chucking it in, it comes from observing what the fish are doing and watching their behaviour. I fished this with somebody by the rod while I placed the bait. It may not be a method for when you're fishing alone and no one is around to stand by the rods. It is safe, and it is no different to having your rod cast out as normal - the line is just held out on the water by a bank stick and releases easily if a fish pulls on it. Birds can get caught in line no matter what kind of fishing you're doing, that's always a risk regardless. If you're fishing with line and hook, and you catch a fish, then you're fishing. I don't believe in hierarchies of what people think 'is and isn't' fishing, and no one individual has the authority on that. This is the sort of culture in fishing I want to work to remove. Live and let live, the way you fish is up to you, and how someone else fishes is their business. Nothing about this is illegal either :)
