this song is about temptation: 1. While everyone else walks around the museum, Jin stops to look at the painting, “The Fall of the Rebel Angels” by Pieter Bruegel. In this the angels of heaven fell because of rebellion against god by siding with Lucifer, who corrupted the angels by temptations. Jin is the focus and is the key symbol of tempted youth 2. The next painting which is behind Jungkook when he’s dangling from a swing is “The Lament of Icarus” by Herbert James Draper. The story of Icarus is about a naïve boy who is given a pair of wax wings by his father, who is an inventor, to fly, and is told to stay away from the sun, which he ignores. He ultimately flies too close to the sun and the wav holding his wings melt, destroying the wings and leading to him falling into the ocean and drowning. 3. At the part where RM melts the green wax, he is representing Icarus’s father and where Jungkook licks the wax, is representing Icarus. In the myth, it’s Icarus’s father who gives him the choice of flying, and it is Icarus’s ignorance that leads to his death. The way Jungkook is positioned on the swing looks like he’s falling. The melted candle and him licking the wax can also be tied to the myth, who falls because of the melted wax on his wings. Jungkook “falls” because he consumed the wax, which shows temptation. 4. Later on, where they’re all sitting at the table, there’s a single apple on the table, where in the story of Adam and Eve, Eve eats the forbidden fruit from the Garden of Eden. They also all raise their cups, and given that the Apple is on the table, it is hinted that they are going to commit the sins of adulthood by eating the apple together. 5. Things get interesting when V falls off the balcony. He looks back at you, has a mischievous grin, and jumps willingly. Also in front of him is the painting “Landscape with the Fall of Icarus”. We saw his death earlier, and now we are seeing his fall. This is a really important factor in the music video. 6. In the end, where V has scars where the wings were supposed to be, it is believed V is the statue. The lyrics reflect that and there's plenty of imagery in the MV such as Jin staring at the painting titled "The Fall of the Rebel Angels," Jungkook on a swing and a painting of Icarus behind him (Icarus who flew too close to the sun which lead to his fall), BTS gathered around the table with a single apple on their plates, which famously symbolized temptation in biblical terms - and so much more!
