Great actors of yore: Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Charleston Heston, Burt Lancaster, Rod Steiger,Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable,Peter O'Toole, Richard Harris, Richard Burton and the list is virtually endless...and then there was the great Yul Brynner! Please don't you see, he was the total package and a legendary stalwart, sometimes even exceeding the real character he depicted. Such talent only comes around once in a blue moon. He topped them all...maybe not by much but he did.
If We Drink We Will Die 1. Some men they are sailors, Mighty ocean whalers, As from shore to icy shore they boldly sail. But the man I drink to, The man nobody drinks to, Is the man who only goes to sea to drink the ale. If we drink we will die If we don't drink we will die So we might as well say "What the hell!" And raise our glasses high As long as we are going to die It's better if we drink Whatever your name You'll be dying just the same So you might as well say, "What the hell!" and join us in a drink Hey! 2. Some men they are fighters, Mighty warrior fighters, As from battlefield to battlefield they run. But the man I drink to, The man nobody drinks to, Is the man who only goes to war just for the rum.
3. Some men they are lovers, They work under covers, As from lady's bed to lady's bed they creep. But the man I drink to, The man nobody drinks to, Is the man who only goes to bed to go to sleep.
4. Some men they are thinkers, Other men are drinkers, As from public bar to public bar they roam. But the man I drink to, The man nobody drinks to, Is the man who only has one drink and then goes home.
I watched this movie 20 years ago, but now as a ukrainaian in russia i appropricate your interest in my homeland very much more. All this time I keep this song (by the way with russian motive): if we drink we will die...
Hey Norbo, enjoy it it's a rare one and a great one as well. I'd like to get the newer one you mentioned. If another actor is playing Yul's character, I wish him luck because he's hard to match much less top.
Why the f*ck, excuse my Russian, did they have to put this kalinka song in the movie? It is a Russian song, not Ukrainian. Why not add a Polish song for that matter??!!!
Yul Brynner best artist of the world 💋
Taras Bulba: 'Put your faith in your sword and your sword in the Pole.'

If We Drink We Will Die
1.

If we drink we will die
If we don't drink we will die
So we might as well say "What the hell!"
And raise our glasses high
As long as we are going to die
It's better if we drink
Whatever your name
You'll be dying just the same
So you might as well say, "What the hell!"
and join us in a drink

I've got this movie on dvd. Its great. But the Russians or Ukranians made a version in 2009 which is very realistic.
It was a much better version. Maybe because it was shot before the 2014 coup and was a joint project. Bogdan Stupka IS Taras.
This Ii find one of the most disrespectful portrait of the cossack's
No surprise. This is 19th century Polish writer portrait.
