Fantastic movie, i was born 6 years after this movie but since watching it as a child its one of my favourite still till today and to me Yul Brynner's greatest role.

The pointlessness of racial and national conflicts.
    The power of devotion.
I first saw this film 60 years ago, and it is still the best.
    ❤Gogol, Yul Brynner.

The movie really has its moments, interesting that the ancestor kills the successors. Hard to really grasp or understand this kind of dilemma.

I think it was a sound effect added much like the obscure noises in Spaghetti Westerns to add a strange melancholy to the scene... an audio tension to reflect a conflict of wills
