- In this Flight Attendant Vlog, I will be telling you the truth about flight attendant free flights. Flying for free as a flight attendant is not as straight forward as you might think. While having free flights is one of the best perks of being a flight attendant, it can be complicated at times.
I will be breaking down what it is like for my husband and I to fly non-rev standby on our way from Los Angeles to Nairobi.

love your adventures! I recently retired after 40 years with American Airlines. Iworked the ramp, customer service, freight and even went to flt att school in 1984. Got kicked out of school for a medical reason. I worked in Dayton Ohio, Tallahassee, Miami, and retired from Ft Lauderdale. Keep up all the hard work and all my best to you and happy travels.
That's awesome that Claire Danes was on your flight!!! My So Called Life was my favorite show as a teenager!!!
THAT'S AWESOME THAT CLAIRE DANES WAS ON YOUR FLIGHT MY SO CALLED LIFE WAS LIFE
I subscribed to you channel because I like to see how things are on other airlines. My husband is a pilot for one of the other big carriers. Through this site I discovered your other site, The Awkward Traveler. I loved the episodes you did on the Maldives and the Seychelles and Bora Bora. Those are on our bucket list. Hubby has a year left before mandatory retirement so we will be checking those locations out.
I can't get enough of the bloopers! Just love them! They're refreshing and entertaining. Hope you have a great time on your trip!
What an exciting trip! I will definitely check out your other channel for your travel blogs.
Thanks for explaining the non-rev (never knew what that meant) and how the personal travel works. Not a bad deal for you and your husband to fly to Kenya from LA for less than $100 a person!
Safe travels!
It’s fun to learn the behind the scenes things about your job. Hope you are having fun in Kenya!
Great video! Safe travels!
Love it! What a wonderful perk from your (fabulous already) career. I wanna know where you have been able to travel to omg ❤
Great vlog, Kelly. You and Kevin got lucky on the first two flights. Was the food on the flights good? Can't wait for your vlogs from Africa, espicaly, when you go on a safari. That is one thing i would love to do
Nice! We want those seats on our next trip!
Love, love, love the A321T. I am taking it soon. I also recognized the Admirals Club you were in. I did Flagship Business once. Too bad they are phasing out the A321T next year.
So interesting!
Hi Kelly, How fun. I wish I had those benefits. Instead, I use my miles, lol ✈✈
Hi Kelly i am sending love from Jamaica i enjoyed watching all your video ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
When my husband used to.work for Northwest Air. onslines we used to fly non rev with each other and our two sons. It was $10 each way in coach and $20 a person in first class. This was in the 1990's.
Cool , loved Claire in homeland
Great video
My hubby works for AA and we’ve found it more and more difficult to get decent seats lately. We went to Japan last month and we couldn’t get business at all, either going or coming back 😢
That was great info for the non-rev. Can you tell us how much the Zed fare was?
Worked for Delta in late 80s/early 90s...everyone had to dress up back then...suits..ties..business attire...etc...lots of changes to that policy
where is your vlog on your trip to Egypt?
Enjoyed hearing about flight attendant benefits. I'm curious if part of your training includes not calling attention to celebrities?
QUESTION: How did you get access to the Admiral Club?--Company benefit, or $500 Credit Card??
I forgot are you Mainline or regional for aa?
I was PSA and got DL mainline but thinking to go back to PSA because I wouldn’t have to commute
How does checked baggage work?
QUESTION: How much was the Sim card, and was it easy to setup your phone in Nairobi for that cell service??
Hi, we actually answer a lot of your questions in videos on our other channel, The Awkward Tourists 😁
I have wasted to many D1s thinking I had a chance for 1st class. It's frustrating 😒 at times ...
You can make business for yourself.
Someone can pay you for a free spot on an aircraft instead of buying a ticket
Do you get Admirals Club entry an an employee or did you have another way to qualify?
We have the executive credit card that gives us access
@@theawkwardflightattendant I figured that. For your airline, If you were to purchase access or have the card, would you be able to use it during sits or standby? I saw a UA pilot that did that, but wondering if that was airline-specific.
@@zgaviation6481 no we're not allowed to do that
@@theawkwardflightattendant Got it! Thanks for getting back to me! Love the vids. Graduating college in December and hoping to join the skies!
If you care to share, why were you going to Kenya?
To explore, of course!
