Do Rooster Collar's Really Work? (Rooster's Too Loud)

- Because we are moving out to this new house we have to do something to stop the roosters from crowing. I didn't want to get rid of them so we ordered No Crow Rooster Collars. The roosters didn't like the collars at first naturally but quickly forgot about them. We woke up this morning to a lack of roosters crowing. Success.

Some people are going to complain about roosters no matter what. I live in the country where CC&R's and county ordinance permit poultry, including roosters, yet my neighbors still complain despite being separated by acres. Same neighbors also have no problem allowing their dogs to roam freely, bark all night, and shit all along our fence line.
People are crazy and never satisfied, let nature be nature.
That's how it is here I got a tiny 5 acres but the way I look at it I'm zoned I'm here for at least 30 years and 200k+ loan nobody is gnna tell me shit lol..Well maybe if they paid my house payment for me lol
Honestly, don’t understand how people can get away with loud dogs in the night but as soon as a rooster crows you have to get rid of it
Cekeybula my neighbour is always singing loud karaoke every night and frequently has parties. One time I had a rooster and he was complaining on the first night and we had to get rid of it.
I am on the other side of this argument, my neighbor has a rooster and IF I could get away with it I would kill it in a second! And by the way I hate loud dogs too! But I did fail to mention My neighbor and me are separated by about 50 feet, the rooster in question is in a cage 50 feet from my bedroom window... good for ya'll that ya'll love animals, I actually do too but that ain't right, nothing I can do about it, just have to put up with lousy neighbors!
@@Lee-ws8we you should have checked CC&R regulations for the neighborhood you moved into. Nobody to blame but yourself.
BEFORE: Happy cockereling
AFTER: Blood-curdling agonizing Shriek
LMAO
I agonized hearing that! Much rather have the real crowing.
ROFL! Sounds like Jurassic Park back there now
for many of us 'backyard' chicken people....the roosters either dead, or its wearing the collar lol...harsh but true sometimes
If he keeps walking backward like that, he's gonna end up in Mexico. They don't mess around with pollo loco down there.
😂😂
lol
LOL.
Hahaha!!!
🤣🤣🤣
Those work really well, sometimes you have to keep adjusting it to find that 'sweet spot'. I actually made my own with Velcro after buying one and seeing how simple it was.
same here i use velcro for ext cords. get 10 for 2$ and they are thick. like 1in wide.
i will be danged that there collar also taught your rooster how to walk backwards!
Side effect...
Good luck to you and your family sir!

I think its too tight then as my rooster did that and then we had loosen it.
Text at the end says: "This is the most noise they've made since putting on the collar"
I know it is important that you promote additional videos that help with income generation. But when you throw text up at the end (maybe an enhanced explanation of a just previous scene) this text is blocked by the promo thumbnails. It is difficult to read the text.
That is not a choice as to why RUclips added that is just more revenue really 🤷♂️

Watching him try to get out of that collar was the funniest thing I've seen all day😂
WOW!!! What a good boy, letting you handle him in that way and he didn't care at all!!!
This is the best advice Ive seen for this problem. I live in city limits and am new to this. Despite the fact that Im a country guy at heart. I have 25 chicks n can only have 4 and a rooster is a major prob since I live in a bougie neighborhood . These people KNOW WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT. THANK YOU. Ive googled several things on rooster collars and this is REAL SHIT.
I have used the no crow collar, they work well. I live in a suburban area in Adelaide Australia, only way I could have roosters.
How do you stop a rooster from crowing on a Sunday?
........
......
EAT IT ON A SATURDAY!! 😂😂
Kill it Saturday night.
Great channel look forward to your next video got wife watching them to. She noticed what great parents you and your wife are and i agree. You only have so much time with childern then they grow up.
Thanks for watching.
It's 1 a.m. and I'm up looking at RUclips videos on how to stop a rooster from crowing because my neighbors (who I really like) have one rooster that starts crowing just after midnight every single night and carries on till the morning light. Crowing during the day doesn't bother me at, I actually like it (when I'm not asleep deprived). But right now, in this moment, I think I'd opt for the father-in-law's remedy of reaching down the roosters throat and removing something. 🥺
You probably aren't going to see this response since you posted 3 years ago, but I would just ask them to keep their rooster inside at night if it's literally crowing between midnight and 5 am. They could bring it in at night and keep it in a cage.
Red Poppy Ranch The Rooster Your Holding at The beginning is really Beautyful 😍😃
I bought one of these at the end of last year and then heard some reviews that their rooster died probably cause it was to tight, but was hesitant after that. Thanks for sharing your experience with it.
Great video. Can't wait to try out your collar.
You can make it tighter to mute it more. Your end result isn't much better than without it. I put these on five of my roosters and if they still make loud noise afterwards I tighten it. I have never had health problems with them.
Interesting never heard of them before
Hi how long did he end up wearing his no Crow collar because I’ve put on on my roo he is all fine now but I’m worried that he might eventually have problems .thanks
Hmmmmm...I have 3 brahma roosters and they are quite loud. I've actually been looking for something like this so I don't have to kill them.
I took mine to a rooster sanctuary where they free range and they don't have any hens there so the roosters don't fight. The lady there said she has heard of many roosters dying from the collars. It is in their nature to crow and some will do anything to be able to warn or alert the others even if it means they sacrifice themselves to do so.
@@randomrachael420 oh, what if there aren't any sanctuaries nearby? (I killed the brahma roosters but now I have 3 more so ye)
@@ahawk6113 I had to drive about 45 minutes away to drop mine off. Some feed stores take them and sell them too. But if you have no choice you can always eat them or turn them into animal food so they don't go to waste. Now I only buy my chicks from a feed store that sexes them so I know I will never end up with another rooster until I'm ready for one. Good luck!
I put one on my rooster today and it made his neck feathers look puffed out. The other rooster began pecking fighting and chasing him. I had to separate them and take the collar off. I can only assume that the collar made him look like he was being aggressive and that why the other one attacked him.
I love this rooster. He is a prince.
I have the same type of hens and a rooster like your just bought the collar so neighbours wont complain
I might just try building a noise canceling enclosure☹️
I live in the suburbs and my neighbor has I think two roosters. They screech all day then start again at 5 am.
I spoke to him politely the other day. He's done nothing about it. Can't decide whether to wring his neck or the roosters. Can't imagine why anyone in a rural area would complain about roosters. It's like complaining about the fresh air. That's country life but having a rooster on the other side of the fence near your bedroom window is ridiculous and against regulations. I'm a little bit peeved.
How cool is that he stuck in REVERSE !!!! LOL :)
Moon walking!
I'm seriously considering buying my neighbors rooster and cook it. It's fucking loud
AMAZING!!! these is solution at my problem!!! how i can made these collar?
You need someone who can sew probably. I can sew and just made one using velcro I got at a store and a fabric scrap I had that I used as the backing to hook portion of the velcro that had adhesive on the back. My young rooster hated it and I felt so bad that I only put it on him for a few minutes before taking it off....
Anyone who keeps a rooster anywhere near a nonconsenting neighbor should be forced to live in the coop with the rooster
Thats awesome Great idea humans are geniuses I'm buy a collar for my rooster
Everyone else be quiet while I crank up my tunes..
That's way cool I've never heard of that before
Robert Allen : Never heard of Cock Rings!?😂😁😂😁😉
@@unicornbunny6190 oh god
Pretty cool. I'm looking for a new home where I can put in a large garden. I hope I can afford something where I can have animals. I would like chickens, rabbits, and goats.
If you get goats, you might have to restrain them. They might be inquisitive but they are very destructive if allowed to roam free.
Finally a worthy opponent for Big Henry
If your rooster don't crow, you're too old
Must be a Texas problem... Roosters crowing just fine over here.
How long did it take for him to get used to it?
5 minutes
Does the collar interfere with eating and drinking?
Kind of off-topic, but that rooster looks like it's eyeing the camera lol I'm glad it didn't peck it!
No use taking collars off at night. Currently have a rooster in the neighborhood that crows 24/7. And as I can see below there are comments about there being" nothing wrong with a crowing rooster". Yes there is ... just like loud music, loud exhausts and barking dogs ... there are local govt regulations about of all them. Keeping roosters in residential areas is contrary to the regulations and anyone who keeps one or more are just ignorant and inconsiderate to neighbours. Just because someone does something noisy doesn't equate to "oh so I should be able to do it to" with a bird that can't be switched/turned off. The regulations are there for good reason.
You are right about crowing 24/7! Our 9 roosters crow all through the day and night. We are lucky all our neighbors have roosters too so nobody cares but I know this isn't common and they can be annoying. Where my sister lives an hour away you can't have roosters and only 5 hens. The police will confiscate any rooster. They do turn them over to a rescue and attempt to home them where they are legally permitted.
If you home is within 15 feet of neighbors homes, you might not be able to have roosters . but if your neighbors are all 100 feet or more from your house there might be nothing they can do about it. At that range you can barely hear a rooster.
Please is there an operation one can get the vet to do, to,stop a rooster crowing, I have heard somewhere there is. If you live in the country, with no near neighbours, it doesn't matter too much if a rooster crows , but when you live in the town, and keep chickens in the back garden, you cannot have a rooster crowing and waking the neighbourhood at 4 or 5 O clock in the morning. Just got 7 beautiful new day old chickens, 3 blue, 4 barred rock, one of them is a Cockerell, and I don't really want to kill him later on, but I couldn't keep a rooster here if it crows. Is there someway to stop him crowing, I, would appreciate a reply. Greetings from Northern Ireland.
The before and after both sound loud, but different. I’m not sold.
My rooster will not get used to it. He keeps walking backwards or doesn't move. Its literally so loose . What should I do?
Were are on septic.?? Are you going to start on shop before winter hits
Yes
You have the right to live. The right to feed yourselves (and your neighbors if they treat you right.) When you get too many roosters, ya eat 'em. The people that complain about a 6000 year old world tradition are gonna be the first to starve in hard times. Tolerance, patience and understanding will carry you a long way.
@@Adam-sj9bk no Sir, that is not unreasonable at all. I am one of those people that does keep fowl, but I personally hate the sound of a crowing rooster. Even my own. I will never get used to it, I have learned to be at peace with it. I am conscious of my neighbors also. That's why sometimes the more aggressive and vocal birds get eaten. That being said, I understand your plight. If he should ever wander onto your property, just remember..... garlic, onions, celery, carrots, salt and pepper.
Thanks this will help with my banty rooster goliath
Any updates?
So what do you do get up at 4:30am every morning to put this thing on?
You dont take it off. Lol
He said take it off at night. I missed the part where he says you can leave it on.
We have young roosters and are going to need to have them wear it all day. Currently, we have them 100% inside until we can figure out the collaring because even a single complaint could lead to use losing our flock. But we plan to have them wear it all day and then they will continue to sleep inside at night indefinitely so that they can crow inside the house at dawn. Then they'll go back outside after 10 am wearing the collars.
You can actually train a rooster to be quiet during the day...most folks don't know that. Early morning crowing, that's alright and natural. Crowing all day long is just not necessary and you CAN do something about it. Whether it be one rooster or multiple roosters, you CAN reduce the amount of crowing to almost nil. I would never put one of these collars on a rooster, it restricts their ability to swallow and I've heard of folks who had roosters choke and die due to the use of them.
Mountain Woman : Nah, he just wanted to play with them cock rings/collars. 😉😉😉😁
4am is "early" for a rooster and not ok in many neighborhoods. I think if a roo choked, it's the owner putting it on too tight, if you can fit a finger in there, they should swallow fine. People can be so dumb.
So how do you do it or where do I get the information to stop the rooster from crawling during the day
How can we train roaster to be quiet ??plx tell I am having same issue
However you killed it
Those neck folds are something else
How do you tell if your hens are ready to lay?and don’t the roosters fight?
Roosters only fight in a few main situations. The biggest one is their breed; each breed has an individual general tendency for aggression. A Japanese Bantam is about the same as a Mexican fighting rooster, but a frizzle rooster will sit on your lap and be hand fed. The giants tend to be the most docile and things in the feathered feet 'buff' family. The second reason is they see a new chicken. Even hens fight if exposed to a brand new chicken on their block, so it's best to introduce multiple new chickens (preferably at night) or smaller numbers through cages. New chickens don't know where to go in at night yet so they have to be locked up 2 or 3 weeks anyway, which ensures they will return to the place they were locked up at if it is suitable. (If they have no good perch they will be far less likely to return.)
The third reason is stress, roosters kept in small quarters tend to argue. Especially if there are hens nearby.
Chickens raised together in the same clutch are far less likely to fight unless an aggressive breed, and don't start fighting until maturity.
@@purewinter5650 You know your stuff! Ive had chickens for 40 years and everything you said is dead on. I would like to add that multiple roosters hand raised from chicks tend to get along with or without hens in my experience. They even come right up to you and allow handling.
@@brentcarrington2291 This is good to hear! We bought 4 rare breed unsexed chicks and ended up with 4 roosters. We have raised them since 2 wks old. They're very friendly and don't fight. I hope it stays that way....we're trying to keep 2 and rehome 2. The 2 we keep will have to wear collars and then sleep inside at night to prevent crowing in the morning.
Natures alarm clock. Roosters probably dont belong in the berbs. That's why I live in the stix...
We live on a coucil estate and a neighbour has about 8 roosters

I wish someone would breed crowless roosters. I hear the more males you have the more they crow to compete with each other. Not sure if that's true.
Hi, my rooster crows throughout the night, what might be the problem?
Could there be a predator around at all. Or do you have alot of lights where you are. I know if they can see light in the coup they will crow as well xxxx
No they don't. It does mitigate the sound a little bit.
I put the collar on my roosters neck and he was trying to get it off really bad walking back wards and shaking his head. Will that stop?
OMG somebody let a rooster loose in our neighborhood that no one including the Animal control officer can catch, and it never shut the hell up. It has crowed so much my Chihuahua is trying to Crow!
@@dawngilbert4890 Eventually it will get killed by a dog or predator.

tell the neighbors you will sue them if they don't shut up.
@@JackSquat54 They have no grounds for a legal complaint, so they can't threaten to sue. I feel for them because we have young roosters we want to keep and are going to have to try the rooster collars...
Why aren't they allowed to crow at the new homestead?
Respect for neighbors. Noise Ordinances. Not wanting to listen to it 24/7. Any of those will work from where I am sitting. Roosters are annoying AF. Especially if they aren't yours. edit: I know you didn't ask me. I just have a hatred towards them as someone who was 'the neighbor'. Please pardon any 'aggressiveness' in that. It isn't towards you. It is towards them dad gum roosters.
Patrick Hermey Oh Okay thank you so much for answering me. I am clueless, I didn't know. I thought there New homestead didn't have any neighbors near by
I think they are moving into that house where he replaced the outside wall. If it isn't that one... they are for sure moving somewhere closer to the homestead. Not the homestead itself.
Olga Busch They're moving into a house with his mom until the homestead is finished enough to move into. In other words, they're going to a different neighborhood where they'll have neighbors. There might be noise ordinances as already suggested. Roosters crow all day long. I used to have a neighbor with them and eventually learned to tune them out. But they are loud.
Brooke Baker Ahh I see now I understand. Thank you so much 👍

still noisy
i don't think from now on i'ld hold them so close to my face... ha ha ha

I just had code enforcement called on me yesterday for my roosters and my 2 nigerian goats.. spokane city has better laws then spokane valley its weird.. in the city you can have a full size goat per 2500sf in the valley you MUST have an acre to have 6 full size goats no in between
I tried them on my roosters . They didn,t work
I dont understand why it's a concern? Your out a ways from my understanding. Your not in city limits. So why the concern?
Build a pen for them so a critter don't get to them
Pens are only for night.
What about sending them out to your cousins?
Considered this also. We want them close by.
Crowing keeps the Predators away. Works so fare with coyotes.
can you put me in touch with your wife's dad, I like to learn how he does the surgery.
Same. I want to know too
If you want to raise livestock Buy a house out in country. It’s kind of a no brainer.
Hes in a sububan area so houses are very well separated and with the collar he will probably cause no trouble
Really

😆 🤣 😂
Mine keeps taking his off
This worked well and literally saved our rooster’s life! We planned to kill it before. Thank you so much
Why kill him?
After putting that collar it can still crow with horrible sound
If you go to the homestead every day they would be fine in a closed area
I agree.
NOT so,,we have these nasty little weasels here and they kill the chickes for fun at night
@@michaelstradley4579 Add a dog. Worked for centuries. Dedicated livestock guardians are usually raised from pups inside the coop/sheep flock/etc. I had a caucasian ovcharka raised in a coop that would literally patrol, and I saw him go after coyotes at the neck. Granted he would also go after people, so maybe choose the right kind of dog, size, and socialize the dog well with actual humans. Or train it to go after vermin and let it sleep in the coop at night.
How to get this colar for my bad ass roosters, they make my life feel like in hell

No. Do not let them be. They're loud.
I'm curious about whether there is a surgical procedure, something like a vasectomy, where you can tie off the tube leading to the air sacks. Or perhaps the straight removal of these air sacks?
Yes, there is a complex surgery. Only 60% survive it, apparently. There are videos about it.
It's not healthy for them.. they choke on the food
Don't disturb the animal's nature, damn you.
Look wrong to me at less you didn't cut their vocal cords
