We live in Mizoram,India. Our forefathers use rooster to keep time and search suitable healthy village.
Here Rooster crows regularly just before dawn until dawn, at noon, around 10pm, and midnight. Each crows were named.
It is believed that a Rooster wouldn't crow in morning or noon if the area (opted for village) isn't healthy or safe. So our forefathers always carry a rooster when searching for new land for cultivation or for village.

i had a White Wyandotte and i blacked out the window, the day i got him and the next morning i lifted the coop door, he crowed then he came out into the run and crowed again.
He never crowed again ever...had him 9 years and only crowed twice in his life! Very strange but thankful.

Their crowing is music to my ears. When they’re growing up, it’s fun to listen to when they are learning how to crow. They get part way through and their voice crackles, just like young guys when their voices are changing. Anyway, I love chickens and ducks and would have some it I could. Thanks for the great vid!

I'm exactly the opposite as crowing sounds like nails down a chalkboard to me. I absolutely loathe it. It makes the hairs on my neck stand up and incites an internal rage that nothing else can. However, I have to have them because I can't watch over my hens all day long and I need baby chicks every year. So the last few that I've hatched and grown, I've put collars on them. Doesn't stop them from crowing, but reduces the frequency and the decibel level to where it's tolerable for people like me.

During daylight savings time, our roosters started crowing at 5 am or a little before. Now that we have resumed standard time, they start crowing at 4am or a little before. I can now confidently say that I prefer daylight savings time to be permanent! In a perfect world, we would all go to bed when the chickens do so when they start crowing relentlessly two hours before dawn we would be well-rested.
@@newt2120, I feel ya. I am currently cursing our 10 roosters at 6am after two hours of them killing me softly with their crowing in tandem. It wasn't much better when we only had 2. I am over it since this friggin time change. Sorry kids!😂

I love roosters and most male animals too. They are incredibly beautiful, Just look at the Welsummer, Copper Marans Sussex Roosters. For sheer artistry, look at the Golden Cuckoo Duckwing Leghorn Rooster. Like a painter created it. Too bad they don't lay eggs and are so vocal. I love the sounds but urban areas, it is hard to deal with for the neighbors.

Roosters can drive you mad. It's not just in the morning. It's constantly done from 6 to noon and just when you think you've found some peace, it happens again. There is nothing beautiful about it unless you have absolutely nothing to do which requires thought and concentration.

Completely agree. As I noted in another reply, it makes me absolutely insane, but I'm noise sensitive, so there's that. I've found that putting collars on them really helps if you must have roosters but hate having to listen to them all day.

That's quite simplistic. I love nature, but I live in a city and my neighbours have been raising chickens with no concern for people around them. Being woken up at 5 when I need sleep is not OK, and doesn't say anything about my appreciation of nature. It's OK to love chickens, but people need to respect neighbours.
I've seen chicken channels with people saying it's no big deal, not just you of course. Complainers won't always be right, but chicken owners aren't all considerate either.

Roosters were originally fire breathing dragons from Antarctica. Every morning they would breathe a new fire to stay warm in the harsh cold climate.
Eventually humans domesticated dragons in the 1800s and through selective breeding dragons became roosters. They can't breathe fire anymore but the habit remains as crowing.
