I live in Cali and I grew up in Watts and a part of the first integration to other schools! I was bus to San Pedro for Junior high was the best opportunity to learn and become friends with a diverse school of all nationalities Italian black Latino Asian Japanese Hawaiian Jewish African French Dutch! You name it we had at our school. We all got along & learned each other cultures and families it didn’t matter.we all learn each other history and was educated with understanding different points of views and went to school in harmony! I know literally hundreds of people who went to public school (including me). They have a very diverse set of beliefs, careers, political affiliations, outlooks, and lives. Public schools did not turn them into this or that. Today's parents worry too much about what teachers are telling their kids and too little about what THEY are teaching their children. If you are a strong, supportive, positive example in your child's life, nothing someone says to them at school is going to have a greater influence on them than you will. On the other hand, if you're absent, weak, abrasive, and not truly a good influence on your kids, then sure you should worry about every little sentence someone at school might say to them. I also have other news for you... Your child's peers, friends, and media/entertainment will have a LOT more effect on them than what they learn at school. Sorry, but it's true. You see your kid's Marvel backpack? Do they have a backpack with their teacher's face on it? Nope. The only reason a certain political party worries so much about schools is that school boards are an easy target. Attacking school boards is MUCH easier than living life as a true role model to your kids. Plus a lot of parents just love to bully other people. "Own the libs" and all that junior high nonsense. It makes them feel powerful. Plus, as I said, it's much easier than living your life as a true positive role model for your children.

I'm first generation desegregation from the deep south and I personally think they should be teaching kids the way they taught my generation, anyone can be what they want to be through hard work dedicated to the process of self improvement. This isn't about teaching history. Plenty of black parents at other meetings regarding CRT have spoken out against teaching that mess. California has illiterate high school students, literally. How about focusing on making sure the students are actually being taught how to read, maths and hard sciences. I'm a POC, and I oppose CRT, not because I don't think it should be taught or some of it should be, but because it's been high jacked by hardcore leftists who believe EVERY thing is racist. That is simply not true. Yes some laws were based on race, but the US has made great strides to remove or modify these laws. That's not good enough for the hardcore lefty CRT pushers, which is what I have a problem with. This has led to many of those in support of CRT to support reparations, racism against asians and whites, equity when it's not deserved, etc. If you want to teach CRT as an ideology...ok fine, but the problem is that gets pushed to create activists, which is what I have a problem with (and what most of those pushing it nowadays want). Education is about education, not propaganda. It's the same thing happening with the LGBQT+ pushing for kids transitioning, etc, it's getting pushed by the hardcore left; while there are those who belong to this group and just want to live their lives in peace.
CRT is graduate level theory. It's not taught in K-12. There is value in examining our systems to look for any potential built in injustices for POC so they can be fixed. And no hard core leftists don't see everything as racist. I know some hardcore leftists. When there is video of someone making racial slurs etc. wouldn't you say the issue is race? Calling a spade a spade is just that.
