Those Dublin pistols are beautiful.
In NYC, Boston, New Orleans, Philly and Chicago were deep in irish faction street gangs that fought with sicks, canes and pistols.
They did indeed and in many other places too.

Thank you for giving people interested in self defense an option closer to their way of life. Like most people here from the big cities in the states, always have been interested in Irish martial arts. It has past on to other ethnicities (especially blow for blow/ toe to toe in Ireland) I hope that you do videos on old Fisticuffs , with grappling/throws in it. There is only one decent video on it. Also would like to know about the Irish blade culture. Thank you for the history lesson as well.

History of boxing in Ireland? yes please! The Irish fire-arms industry is interesting; did they produce mostly for the export market or the domestic market or both? I imagine a thriving fire-arms industry might be related to the Irish Code Duelo being the first known formalization of pistol dueling.
It is incredibly difficult to find a lot of information on as most search engines really crack down on anything firearm related. From what I can tell it was rifles for both and a lot of pistols aimed for self defence for both.
Yeah, would love to see something about boxing or pugilism as it were in Ireland . For a small country we have a ridiculous history in boxing.
Totally off topic, but I thought it might interest you to research this question at some point: what did our ancestors know/understand about fetal alcohol syndrome, and what were their customs around alcohol consumption by pregnant/nursing women, children, the ill, and so on? The reason I bring this up is because Jason Kingsley recently made a video about the differences between medieval inns, taverns and alehouses in England, and the practice of using alcohol as a means of making water potable at a time when (as far as I know) tea-drinking was not commonplace - I assume similar cultural criteria might have applied in other parts of Britain, as well as Ireland. Maybe other kinds of beverages could be referenced in a video about the topic, such as switchel (an 18th century drink, popular in New England, which is basically diluted vinegar flavored with sugar and spices) and which, I suppose, must have had some medieval antecedent in immigrant source countries. Anyway, thanks again for the interesting video.
What do people in Ireland carry/use for self defense today? Knives/bladed weapons?
They don't. We have some of the harshest weapon laws in the world so carrying any weapon can put you in serious legal trouble.
