The background music adds nothing, in fact it is a distraction. Interesting history however. Thank you.

Mac Aodhagáin is pronounced as Mak Aigaun actually. Secondly, the history of Irish Bataireacht is much older than the 17th century.

Thank you for your contribution. :-) YES we know that the history of Irish stick fighting is much older. Where do you think we should start?

Though these stick's may be legal in other countries to carry, they are not in the U.S.A. Only stick's that can and would be declared to be a "CANE" which have a half loop aka hook on one end is legal. Though a walking stick, is actually illegal, it won't be enforced until it would actually be utilzed if and when it's utilzed offensively or in a case of defence.

Do you have any sites that back this up? I'm not finding anything that says walking sticks are illegal in the US.

Hallo! Wo man in Deutschland Irish Stick Fighting trainieren kann wissen wir leider nicht. Wir stehen direkt mit Simon Keegan in Kontakt und bieten ab Jänner Training in Wien (Österreich) an. Evtl. auch online.

Stick fighting took place all over Europe. Think of little John and his staff in the tales of Robin Hood

But Irish stick fighting, aka Bataireacht was different. The earliest Irish sticks were longer like a staff.

Little John's staff was long too. Sorry, that sounds vulgar

It's very interesting to see Germans have an interest in the Irish Shillelagh. In ancient times before the iron age, a very similar stick weapon was used in Germany. I'm a Gael born on Tyneside, England . Today I have just purchased a Blackthorn stick/ Shillelagh from Ireland. I will study these stick fighting videos. Greetings to you Germans. 👍
