Must be a nightmare defending Racing in the back line; you want to take time away from Russell, but rushing him gives space to his kicks/long balls, and yet being passive/drifting allows powerful carriers like Vakatawa to hit lines, or for Russell to attack the line himself. It’s the ultimate attacking game always putting the defence in a disadvantageous position.
Even the bad kicks serve a purpose. Wayne Smith said that most of the time you try those attacking kicks you still get the ball back because the defending team will kick it back.
It'd be interesting to see a breakdown of when to kick vs not when to kick. Whether it's for chip and chase, grubbers, exits etc. If you'd be interested in making that, I'd watch!
racing is vital for european rugby, ok maybe not, but they're vital when i try to argue that A not all good teams are boring B kicking doesn't have to be 2 fullbacks playing tennis with a gigantic ball on a gigantic pitch to try to gain territory
Love Racing, I think world rugby has to ensure the laws are enforced so this type of attacking game is encouraged. Rugby has become too much of a battle of breakdown attrition; the off-their-feet jackler vs the off-their-feet-clean out; a boring dangerous game
I think referring the laws as they should be (offside, side-entry) will be a great start! I think it's important to reward good play (both sides of the wall) but ensure this is done through applying the existing laws.

@@mrheck5311 A very good point!
Many threats across the field that can vary between power, skill, and speed! I enjoy watching them play.
This breakdown was awesome
Thanks, Gabriel! I appreciate your support!

Can you do a video on Russell.

I agree, Antonie! Racing show that kicking can be fun to watch as well as a great tactical tool!
No no kicking is always boring, I know this because I am a middle-aged pundit who hasn't been relevant since the 80s
haha, fair comment!
And finally, 25 years into the professional era, union catches up with league...
And what a sport league is. Love watching it!

@@ContactCoach I agree but I really do find players are going off their feet way too much and its become accepted.
Go racing 🔵⚪️
Always enjoy watching them play!
