Young man, and I can say that as I am old enough to be your grandfather; you make a very good video. Thanks. I retired from driving in 1999, after being on the road for 30 years. Your check for one week was about what I cleared per month back in the 1970's, 80's, and 1990's. I was an O/O and had my own trailer as well. Keep up the good attitude, be willing to work hard, and by time you're 55, you should have well over a million dollars in the bank to retire on. And who says you need to retire? Find something you truly enjoy and work a few more years. Thanks again for the videos.
Thank you for your kind words! They mean so much to me in this world we live in. I really appreciate your vote of confidence and your words of wisdom! I wish you the very best in life. Cheers!
Put 2k a month in a mutual fund, you’ll be a millionaire in 15 years ;)
Landstart is they hiring truck drivers maual10 or automatic lease payment for new comer talk to me thanks.
@@edwardbell3911 Landstar don't hire truck drivers they hire own operators.
@@youngpatrick29 how bro??? it says 360,000
Great numbers for your first week. You seem happier. Good job moving on up. 😎🤟🏽💯👊🏽
Always happy! Lol thank you so much!
Awesome buddy super happy for you 😀👍 enjoy yourself traveling and making money.
Grats bro. Glad your happy with the switch
You didn't just "get lucky". You used the right agents and made smart decisions. Congratulations on doing trucking right and thanks for sharing this info.
Thank you! And you’re welcome!
If you own a truck and are not independent contractor you are not smart you are soooo stupid it's not even funny. Talk to him at tax time when he files as his 1099.
@@DAVIS__ I’ve been a contractor for 2 years lol. Did you know Landstar is an Owner Operator only company?
@@johnsonslogicwhat’s good bruh. Ar e you still running with LS ?
Great review and you're off to a great start. I wish you much success. New Subscriber here.
Thanks so much!!
What's popping Elijah? 😎 Very impressive figures straight out the gate. Once you fine tune the process and build relations with brokers it gets even sweeter.. Nice Job Sir 🤗🤗
And I can’t wait for that day to come! Lol
awesome bro. I was thinking of going with them. you confirmed it.
plus nice video.
Wishing the best of success. I enjoyed the star ..when I was there....be blessed
Thanks for sharing that info! Very interesting!
I don't even have my CDL yet... Already got the offer from Prime to come to their school in Springfield. Videos like this is what is going to get me through the training, and the first few years. Congrats on the big check!
That is awesome! Looking forward to seeing you out on the road!! Best of luck to you!
Thanks for always being positive. I enjoy your videos immensely. I am returning to trucking after a 5 year break. If I had went with a better company before, it was Stevens Transport, I would more than likely never left the industry. Congratulations with Landstar and shoot for the moon because even if you miss you end up among the stars anyways!
Glad to see you getting back out there! Always aim high! Just so happened to land on the Big Blue Star 😉
My boy I met you last year with my uncle Allen glad you taking a big step my mans
Yes sir! I remember you. I hope you’re doing well out there!
Great video, keep it up, greetings from the Netherlands
Greetings and thank you!!
Great! Good week.
Awesome for you. Hope it all goes well
Great Job 👍 respect from Detroit
While I'm aware that the market is different than it was two years ago, I'm looking into Landstar myself... Inspiring and informative video! Plus, you're adorable!
Sorry! I have been locked out of my account the past few months and it's taken awhile to get it back. Don't know if you ever came to Landstar or not but I hope all is well!
Very nice and very logical. 🤘
Seems happy and you are good move
It’s lovely over here man
It’s what you make of it! I’m having a blast so far!
Great job! We just made 6500 in 4 days in a box truck but that’s not typical. Usually takes 7 days to make that.
It usually takes me 2 weeks to make that at Prime as a Trainer! But that was my experience not everyone else’s.
Did you make that working for Landstar?!
Good job!
Thank you!
Great job! . Keep it up.
Is that using their trailer?
Yes!
I suggest you save 30k & put 20 on a van through land star & get it for a cheaper price. Keep the truck payment for 3yrs so you'll have decent write offs on the money you make.
Hello fellow trucker great vid I see this was posted a year ago but just had a few questions to see how it’s going if you are still with landstar. 1. Are you pulling their trailers? 2. How is it going until now is it worth it I have my own truck and trailer would it be a good bet for me to get better experience before I do my own authority? Thanks in advance for all your help!
Hey there! Yes I am absolutely still here with Landstar. I pulled their trailer for almost a year and bought my own and am still leased on with Landstar with truck and trailer.
What's up! I just discovered your channel, great video man. Do you know how many milles you've drive ? Maybe it's on the statements.. if so, I'm sorry I didn't see it! 🔥
Miles driven for that statement? Was around 2300 or so miles. Don’t have my notebook with me at the moment.
@@johnsonslogic thanks man!!! It's awesome how you guys have good rates in US.. It's around 2.65$/milles 💪🏼😎 I'll start my CDL soon !! Stay safe 🙏🏼
Congratulations
How does landstar works meaning do you still deal with dispatchers? Can you do a video of how it works choosing your loads compared to prime.
Im looking for a Van trailer to leave prime as well.
Do you need Hazmat to join landstar?
That check looks nice and specially that fuel $$. Congrats and much bless 🙏.
That is an upcoming video actually! Was waiting until I get home to do it. But No Dispatchers. I hop on the load board and choose all of my own loads.
Great job big dog
More to come! Still pretty new but learning everyday !💪🏽
New sub here I’m a landstar driver been here for a year and a half I like it here.
So far so good. Just passed my 3 month threshold
@@johnsonslogic I like it more here then at Schneider I can go out west and not worry about get out. But here I’m not Micromanaged like Schneider.
Like the video, and thinking about joining landstar however I’m have a tough time finding a truck. Could give me some info about that? It would be greatly appreciated
It’s a tough time to find a truck right now in today’s market.
How much did the Volvo cost you?. Did you go straight to dealership? Or this was a personal loan?
Nice keep it up
I’m trying! I wish FL would fix your truck!
Hey, thanks for your video, I have my truck and I’m thinking to apply with landstar, do you think it’s a good time for work with them? And which one do you think is better, landstar or JB hunts?
It's worked out for me so far. I have no knowledge of JB Hunt as i've never worked for them. I plan on making a 2022 wrap up video in the near future.
Get your truck washed at the Beacon and you can let it sit and dry, water is filtered and doesn’t leave water spots
I usually drive to air dry it
@@johnsonslogic makes sense, can’t make money while you’re parked. Was just an fyi
Good video and do you haul dry or refrigerated ?
dry van
grat video do you recommende working for them dp they charge trailer rent fee?
I love working here. And on paper no they don’t charge a trailer rental fee. It’s apart of the percentage they take
Not bad, make relationships with agents. The loads I pull rarely ever hit the load board.
Keep your deadhead down, and don’t haul cheap.
I average clear $14,000-$19,000 in my bank every month. I love me some Landstar..FYI, I do NOT do drop and hooks because a lot of their trailers are getting in bad shape. I got a brand new trailer last year and stopped dropping and hooking because any trailer violations are against you, and 3-4 of those and you’ll be fired. No speeding, no violations and you’ll stay happy. Landstar does not tolerate violations period. They will protect their csa score regardless. Keep that in mind and HAPPY BANKING!! 🤘
I’m doing about the same now after 3 months or so of being here. I still only run load board however. But I got my brand new 2022 trailer just about 2 months ago and haven’t done a drop and hook since! Thanks so much for the advice! Be safe out here
Thanks for the advice!
Nice.
If you like peach flavored soda, try Crush peach!!!
Also a great drink of choice!
Question for you have you had any issues with your Volvo, and how is the sleeper do you get great rest? I'm thinking about getting a VNL 860 just trying to get all the (pros & cons) before August
Major issues? No. Small issues yes but covered under warranty so no issues there. I get fantastic Rest in my sleeper! I have the table option that I use every night that definitely helps me when I’m working on my computer for videos. Great closet space for me. Fridge and freezer have plenty of room in them. All around a great truck in my honest opinion so far!
@@johnsonslogic I appreciate ya, how long have you had the truck so far?
@@roncross3532 9 months
@@johnsonslogic I see you had a freightliner before between the 2 which one did you like better & which one kept you on the road?
@@johnsonslogic quick question what insurance did you go thur for your truck?
Bro can you please let me know what are the Truck requirements at LS? Do I need a brand new type of truck or can I run an Old School Pete ?
As long as it can pass an inspection you can drive whatever you want
Good money way to go
Glad to see you left Prime... So now your with Landstar as I did 2½ years ago. The next smart thing you need to do is get your own trailer. Basically Landstar is buying you a trailer by giving you 7% more for having your own.
I’m working on it! Trailer prices right now are outrageous!
If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your truck?
Prime Inc. My last company. I thought I answered your other comment on another video already but couldn't find it.
Nice truck, where did you get it?
Prime Inc.
More power to you bro.. congrats. My little disappointed with prime right now. Im still waiting for a truck to be assigned to me going company. But im still thinking positive towards prime.
Even though I had my issues with them I still strongly stand by them. Great company to work for. But the truck shortage is a problem for sure.
How long have you been waiting?
@@johnsonslogic like that you keep it positive
@@diondion2020 2 weeks
@@philipjimenez8722 okay appreciate the heads up.
What are the requirements to get on with Landstar as a carrier?
A carrier? I'm not sure. I don't even know how I would go about finding that out. Best bet is to reach out to the qualifications department and ask them.
I think imma come over to Landstar Damn
Can you run local 200 mile radius with Landstar or are you guys sleeping in the truck running the road?
I'm not entirely sure. I've only seen OTR, Hotshot, and Expedited services via Landstar. That would be a question for an application processor maybe. Sorry.
I'm about to join Landstar. Do I need to remove decals from my old company and put new Landstar decals on myself, or do they do that? I know they put ELD in, but I'm not sure about decals.
I did decals myself. I don’t believe they do it for you. And welcome to the Star!
@@johnsonslogic thank you sir.
Nice! They take a pretty decent percentage, what do they provide you out of that cut. Also, how do you feel about those lil fees for everything? They already take a larger percentage and then charge fees for everything, seems sort of petty and money hungry. I mean, a fee for direct deposit?? Sorry, not trying to be negative.
Those card fees are how Comdata make their money.
As Nattydreadlocks says. It’s for Comdata. Personally after all the tiny fees and I can still make 5k a week after them. I’m fine with that. They provide back office support when I need them as well as discounts on a bunch of various things out of the percentage.
@@johnsonslogic have you looked into F2F?
@@RandySoWavvy I have not
Sorry, I haven’t replied I’m just now getting notifications for it. Lol
Ive been work for landstar for 3 months. Best job ever
I started just a little bit before you. But strongly agree. Best job ever!
Ok bet I’m thinking of putting two trucks with them if I can find two drivers
@@kevinpalmer5448 That’s what I’m trying to do also. I’m trying to get my friends into trucking so it’s easier to trust the driver
Who are you leasing the truck through or did you buy one ?
I own my truck
They actually charge you to use direct deposit? Can you ask for a hard check and deposit it yourself?
Yes I could. But if it cost 1.75 to have my check in my bank the next day instead of waiting 3-5 days for the check to process than $91 a year is a very viable option for me to have direct deposit.
What are you running your truck at speed wise now?
Whatever the speed limit is. Lol
Where did you buy your truck?
When did you switch to duals on your truck?
I swapped while I was still with Prime back in May
How much is your Truck payment now that you own it rather than lease it?
2200 a month
I hear you bro make that 💲💲🚛💨💲💨💲💨 & be happy ✌
Always! That’s the goal.
I got the cash to buy myself a truck and pay in full. No payments. Yet I don’t know what to do after I get it lol. I want to bring it to a company and them get me the loads and provide a trailer. Yet even in a paid for truck I’m still afraid the expenses will run me broke 🤦♂️. Some days I’m ready to do it and days like this is scares the hell out of me. I’ve always been a company driver. They give me a load and I go get it. But I want my own truck and I got the money to make it happen. I just don’t know what is best to do with it
Also I haven’t drove a truck in 10 years. I took a long break from it and I’m ready to go back. But I want to go back in my own truck. I’m trying to learn what I need to do. I’m 38, single, no family, and can start debt free
Hi Johnny! I am not to familiar with Owner Operator with dispatchers outside of a Dedicated Lane such as a Walmart account with Landstar or a Mega Carrier such as Prime with nothing but dispatchers. At the end of the day it will come down to personal preference. If you can shoot me an email I'd love to explore and discuss potential options with you as it will help you find a company you like and help me learn what else is out there to help others! logicjohnsons@gmail.com
Do you use a box truck or a cargo van ?
No
Looking like I’ll be able to make it to SPRIMO!!
And I…. Will not 🥲
@@johnsonslogic 😔😒😒
@@johnsonslogic how you told me? “MAKE IT HAPPEN”. I made it happen lol
FaSHo 3500 is my net a week where I’m at 💪🏾
Are you leasing through them or you buy the truck before going over there?
Landstar is 100% Owner Op. they don’t have a lease program.
@@johnsonslogic yeah sorry man, I read further in the comments and saw you got it through Prime, how long did it take you to pay it off from Prime from beginning to end
@@chrisjones9077 I got this truck October 2020. Paid off in lump sum May 23 2021. I’ve saved up since I’ve started at Prime January 2019
@@johnsonslogic damn man
Do you exclusively use their load board?
Me personally yes.
Do you own the trailer or you using landstar??
Landstar
What about the cost for fuel and maintenance of your truck? 🤔
It’s on the statement? 🤔
The settlements look much easier to read. LOL.
So much easier! No class required lol
@@johnsonslogic Os there a class that teaches you to read Prime's statements? I desperately need to drag my hu... I mean attend said class
@@tashainjena 🤣🤣 yes there is actually. Ask your FM about Ace 2 class.
You got your own semi you paid for it or the company
I paid for it.
Cool. Well don't show your future settlements but just let your subs know if things are consistent, worse, etc👍now that people have a frame of reference
That’s the plan!
If you pay your insurance, what does landstar give you for 35%?
All the back end office work and support that comes with trucking.
👍👍👍
Do you have a maintenance account?
I have my own personal maintenance account. Not one through Landstar.
Can anybody put the time stamp on here?
Are you doing the lease program
No Landstar doesn’t have a lease program.
How long was the process to get on with landstar
Around a month or so.
@@johnsonslogic thanks for the info I'm trying to figure out when I should purchase a truck I don't want to have it sitting
This video is 1 year old , now 1 year later , how was your net earnings and total miles off your speedometer for the year.
My numbers are based off of 2022 running a dedicated account. So please keep that in mind!! Direct Deposited 150k and ran 52,376 miles total.
Us your trailer yours!? If you renting from landetar what is your weekly cost?
I’m sure it’s included with the 35% they take from the linehaul. But we don’t have a straight up rental fee because we can drop and hook and use other Landstar trailers
@@johnsonslogic oh cool so it's like more of power only. I like the deal. I don't wanna own trailer at all. 😜
@@eri_gq1741 I do eventually. But I do like the fact we can basically treat these trailers as our own. For instance if we take home time. We keep our trailers.
What is it with your truck payment taken out?
Truck payment is monthly and paid for up until September. So what you see is what I got 😬
Koolbeans
Do you own the truck or lease?
Own
Now you can see just how bad prime bangs drivers over the head on rates. Landstar gets them booked for about 3 times the rate as prime not to mention having a loadboard you actually control your business and being able to even negotiate tolls into the rate where prime just makes you eat it.
Can't tell alot of prime drivers this tho, they be ready to die for Mr. Low, congrats on opening your eyes and getting to the real paper.
you would've thought Robert Low was they daddy how they're so dedicated
At the end of that driving a semi is all same work. Regardless who name on trailor or tractor. He just 3x his income in a week.
Where did you purchase your truck??
I purchased the same truck I leased from Prime Inc

Does landstar have a limit on how old a truck can be
It just needs to be able to pass a Landstar inspection. That’s about as far as I got.
@@johnsonslogic also does landstar do all 48 states
As well as Alaska and Canada
Not having a truck payment makes a big difference.
Huge difference!
How can I get over there to landstar
1 year experience hazmat endorsement and apply

Nope. Just eld compliant and can pass a Landstar compliant inspection.

Yes I was lol
Bro dont temp me to jump ship after i buy my truck lol
😬😬😬
My first week I net 4K on like 1,800 miles
That’s awesome! I only did about 450 more miles than you
Why does Landstar only give you 65% 🤔? They should give you more!
They do if you have your own trailer. Personally I don’t care about percentage I care about how much money I’ll be making at the end of the day
How many miles was this?
2118
@@johnsonslogic Not bad.
Good cleotis.
Why did you leave prime inc.. is it home time ..
Wanted to be able to control my truck.
50k challenge in the future?
Heck if ChasingMrHamilton can do it why can’t I? Lol
That's right place right time, BUT it also isn't right place right time if you understand it. Lol. I've been at landstar over a year now, weeks like this happen way more then you'd expect and my normal weeks don't fall to short from this. My current pay week has 11,000 on the settlement, 1800 from Utah to Cali then 9200 from Cali to Niagara Falls NY, all in one pay period. It can happen regularly if you work for it, but if you don't work for it then you'll average much less. Lol. My current weekly average is around the same as your settlement, just I have a maintenance account pulling 15% line haul so I physically receive a little less then you did.
I definitely see the benefits of running load boards. Once I become more proficient in lanes and understand when and where to be I know I’ll have a blast !
Where was your truck payment?
It wouldn’t be listed on my settlements. It’s billed monthly and has nothing to do with Landstar
