How to Repair Your Eyeglasses

Try these simple fixes to salvage your specs.
Warning
Review the warranty for your eyeglasses. Making repairs yourself may invalidate it.
Step 1: Identify the problem
Holding your glasses by the nosepiece, closely examine them to determine what needs repair. Use a magnifying glass for assistance.
Step 2: Adjust overstretched hinge
For an overstretched hinge, cover the tips of needle-nose pliers with duct tape to avoid any lens scratching. Then, use them to gently bend the hinge back into place.
Tip
If the hinge still feels loose, secure it with a small rubber ring for reinforcement.
Step 3: Glue broken hinge
If a hinge has broken off, dab a small amount of superglue to the end of a toothpick and apply the glue to both the hinge and frame. Firmly hold it in place for 1 minute. Wipe away any excess glue with a paper towel. The earpiece should bend normally.
Step 4: Replace missing screws
Replace screws that have fallen out with ones from the repair kit. You can also fasten a miniature safety pin through the hole, or slip in a metal staple coated in all-purpose glue, bending the ends with pliers to fit around the hinge. If you use a staple, you won't be able to fold your glasses.
Tip
Dab clear nail polish on top of the screw after tightening it to keep it in place.
Step 5: Fix an earpiece
If you’ve snapped off an earpiece, reattach it with superglue.
Step 6: Make an emergency earpiece
If you’re in a real bind, build a temporary earpiece. Using pliers, cut a section of the wire hanger to the same length of the original earpiece. Curve one end of the wire to fit your ear, and glue the other end to the frame. Secure the earpiece to the frames by wrapping a strip of duct tape around them.
Tip
Save old glasses. While you might not have any use for them now, their parts may come in handy for future replacements and repairs.
Step 7: Take them in
While you can make simple, temporary repairs yourself, multiple fractures, warped springs or screw holes, or lenses with deep scratches require professional help. See your optician.

super glue doesnt work, i hold them in place for 2 minutes and let them dry for half and hour and break again the moment i try to put them on

Staple worked for my glasses but they are the ones with the retractable thing so you can't put the screw back on if you wanted to.

Superglue on glasses is a horrible idea. I used it and it made things permanent. So when I attempted to attach the ear piece to the glasses, it wouldn't look like it was settled in place.

You should probably warm up the metal or plastic frame with a blow dryer before bending the leg. This will allow the material to warm up and make it easier to bend. Be careful with plastic.... it will remold into a different shape if you heat it too much. Other wise... take it to an optician... Sam's Club and Walmart does FREE repairs.

If you brake the lens, shape a piece of glass to the frame and stick it with duck tape. You might not be able to see clear out of one eye, but it is a stylish temporary solution.....

Anywayz, i took my glasses into a pieces just to clean them from dust.
And the funny thing is i can't get those screws back.
My fingers are too big for that job. -.-
Broken glasses is a HUGE problem because if you are not able to wear them the time you need to see visually is a HUGE problem I can't go to school without my glasses because even when I move like 2 or 3 feet away i still can't see! This is a problem for me because I learn when I see but when the first i got my glasses I can see just fine and before I broke them it is still an improvement and my glasses turn into sunglasses but then it broke! You have to take good care of your glasses and your eyes because if a big fat ass bully finds you with your nerdy nooby gaming friends then your toasted because sometimes your parents can't afford on such a cool glasses that turn dark and purple for you to see better at day!

I sat on my glasses and popped the lense out, lost a screw, and twisted my leg backwards...
Those were really deep scratches, anyways to prevent them use 100% cotton and DO NOT use tissues cause they are from trees which is wood and scratches them. ♫
