- We are taking a ride to Mexico's craziest market, la merced. Most locals will tell you not to go the merced market in Mexico City and even some Mexican locals don't go there themselves. It's one of Mexico's most important markets however were thousands of goods and foods pass through. You will see it all in this market, Mexican food, bootlegged goods, and the most exotic beer I have ever had. People say it's dangerous, don't go there with a camera, watch your pockets but to be honest I met some of the friendliest people ever. Join me as we take a walk through Mexico's craziest market ... or so they say.

Hey come to India again...
Boil the nopales with a little onion, garlic and season with salt. Once it gets soft, you wash it a few times with cold water. Then mike it with a pico de gallo. Add salt and lemon. 👌
Mexican people's are so nice ❤️ from 🇮🇳
they are not

Around here nobody talks man. We know better than that quit wondering dude
I am finding so many similarities in Mexican and Indian cuisine. My mother makes the flour coated deep fried bananas and its delicious. Thank you for showing me Mexico.
I totally agree.
Yes Mexicans and Indians love their spices lol
I agree too.
Yea our Moles are kind of like Indian Curries, I think that’s why it’s easy for me to cook Indian food. Very similar and delicious 🤤
Except Mexico is mostly clean with food
Volpe I really appreciate these videos since I am Mexican and living in the states having to work at the moment and can’t travel really makes me miss my motherland, cheers from Texas!
Glad they help out brother
lol 😂 he said osaca it’s queso Oaxaca 🧀 the way you guys are the cactus 🌵 nopales tho 😂 I’m dead 😵
No excuse, either. Dude acts like he doesn’t know how to read Spanish.
It sounded like ozaca? Maybe it's just su acento.
@@brucebanner3566 Pero Volpe es venezolano, un latino. jajajajajajaja Mira, si te vas hacer un video ensenando a todo el mundo esta cultura, hay que saber un poco mas.
Nopales is so good when you cook it on the grill and just add salt and salsa 🤤
👍
I've never even thought of grilling it. I'm going to have to try that!
Awesome! Volpe is such a good presenter. Really chilled out and keeps things interesting at the same time.

Minute 6:50 that green fruit is called 'tuna' it comes from the cactus/ nopal.
Or prickly pear in English
the guy that burped at 23:19 what a savage 😆😆
That shit was rude

How have you never heard or ate mole? One of the best dishes you’ll ever have in Mexico
Mexico’s National dish 🇲🇽
Agreed! I'm sure he's from Central America and mole is common in Latin culture.
Yea his dialect sounds central american so this food prolly seems odd to him...like some central American food seems odd to us.
@@mexzcanninja7412 South America. He sounds Venezuelan
It's chocolate.
You are correct sir, we Mexicans always add an extra something to add flavor to anything we eat, I for instance can't go a day without eating some homemade salsa
Pronounced Wa-ha-ka Cheese
I realized when editing this and speaking to more locals just how bad I was at pronouncing it
And it’s named after Oaxaca state (where it originally came from but where it’s called “quesillo”).
@nvz. dgu Haha... I cringed every time he said it.
13:08 somebody call the fire department just to be on the safe side, Sophie doesn't do very well with chillies😁😁
Oaxaca Cheese, Fried Plantains with Cream, and Micheladas, you had me drooling for the whole video.
You definitely got to try the Mole it is like 6 or 7 types of peppers, sooo delicious!
Can't wait to get back to Mexico.
Also, Oaxaca is pronounced like "WAA-HA-KUH".
waooo muchas gracias por compartir esta experiencia tan genial en este país, su cultura me parece genial y todo lo que se ve se ve muy divertido, de verdad muchas gracias se merece un buen like
When it comes to flavor, Mexico knows what's up.

Love seeing your traveling companion enjoying the food. The quesadilla looked legit.
Nice video broo ,...love !!
Soy nuevo en tu canal ... me gusta la gastronomía de mi México SALUDOS DESDE CALIFORNIA 🤙🤙🤙🤙👊👊👍👍
Sometimes I wonder if Sophie gets annoyed at Carlos stealing too much food from her. 😅
It seems she doesn't eat much because Carlos has a gigantic appetite. Much like me *looks guiltily at protruding stomach*😅
She's also a vegetarian so she can't eat much at most of the places he wants to film.
Even beans are usually made with lard and rice with chicken stock.
Rishivar being a Bengali,having a little bhuri is a must.You know what i mean😅😅
11:15 Broo you predicted the future, the blue Jersey he has on is Cruz Azul a Mexican soccer team, my favorite team, and they actually became champions this year after 26 of not being able too, props to you my guy, que viva Cruz Azul🐰🔵🚂 y Mexico 🇲🇽
Bro, 4.16-4.20, the cutest expression ever - reminds me of a kid enjoying his goodies! 👍😀
Mexico is a world of flavor 😋.
3:44 Should have bought a small bag miguelitos for your next beer. Looks good
Anyone else gasp when he but the salsa stringy on top of the quesadilla?😥😂
How you said “Oaxaca” ❤️🤣🤣 the green chile you put on quesadillas doesn’t have avocado it’s just green chiles y tomatillos.
The nopales are sooooo gooodddd when you cook them over a wood 🪵 fire 🔥 out in the wiled and you put a bit of salt 🧂 then you cut it in strips and down they goooo.. 😋😋😋
I enjoyed every bit of this video, from start to finish. Thank you so much for sharing

This is so cool. I was there in Mercado Merced a year ago and ate a huarache in the stall next to you.
I know now what I’m making for dinner!! Cheese quesadillas!! Yes. Thank you. I so enjoy watching you two on your journey. Great, clean fun watching y’all!!
Hey Volpe. At 10:20, you see the guy folding these big leaves for sale. The Mexicans mostly use corn husks (corn leaves) to make tamales. Tamales are steamed, not boiled. In certain regions, they could make tamales out of water lilly leaves too. The flavor is kind of different also. Back to the leaves. He is handling banana leaves. Sure, some like to use banana leaves for tamales but they are smooth and kind of impermeable. I make tamales and I don't like those. I use the traditional corn leaves. Mole refers to the sauce, like guacamole. But, if it's just mole, they are talking about all the seasoned ground up chilies: pollo con mole: mole verde, negro, rojo. The negro typically comes with chocolate. Como lo se todo esto, tengo mas de 15 anos conviviendo con los mexicanos. Asi es. No falta un mes hasta nuestro recorrido like the one you are doing.
It's always been very interesting to see your video dude. All of them are really informative. I really liked all of them.
Thanks alot....
The dude at 6:20 was really cool to show you around right there. Seemed like all the venders were super cool!

Dude I watch all your channels and all your videos are awesome. Great work You and the sophinator
I appreciate how when someone gives you free sample you try to give them some free advertisement, respect!
I grew up with a lot of central Americans and they talked so much shit about us. I got no love for them and they try to ride are coat tales 🖕🏽you go make a show where you come from fool.
I'd spend half my check on candy, nuts, and spices :) Great video!
I saw Alex the Lion from "Madagascar" holding beer 🍻. So funny 🤣🤣🤣
I always forget how funny Chilangos accent is😂 I laugh when my family’s michoacan accent is also funny asf😂
Your camera skills are pretty damn good! I liked the video.. I am subscribing!
Omg that beer looks fire af haha Micheladas are like 9 dollars in the US 😬
Incredible the things tha are showed in video, i hope can will to Mexico some day
LOVE FROM 🇮🇳
I really loved the market too, the nopales are great, like the man said you can cut them up raw in a salad or grill them (my favorite) or cook them with food like you would a green pepper or onion. The Chicharroneria pork looked delicious. The man cutting the corn knows how to use a knife, I wouldn't mess with him. Fried bananas to top it off. 🍌
Lots of love from India.. kolkata.. I'm biggest fan of u.. I follow your each and every vlog . Best ever.. ❤️❤️
La Merced is not that dangerous...People told me Tepito was very dangerous too, but it seemed normal to me
Those michelladas are good my favourite one is the one you got plus clamato.
Wow, interesting way to drink beer. Cool.
The best part its when you say:"Queso Ozaca" jajajaja.
5:03 They're cranberries (arándanos) not blueberries (moras azules).
man brother, im always laughing when watching your videos! so much culture & diversity I LOVE IT! God Bless You hasta la vista baby

watching this video makes me miss Guadalajara, I went there as a kid till I was 15 because my grandma lived there and my family and I haven't gone there because my grandma passed away and cause my mom and my aunt hate each other now
