As a Mexican living currently abroad, and after living in four countries, I can assure that Mexico City (my hometown) is one of the most fascinating cities all over the world
I’ve been to a few mega cities around the world and by far Mexico City has to be the best one. The food, people, architecture and climate is something you can beat. Cheers!

I LOVED THIS VIDEO! A Brit here, I went to Mexico City a couple of months ago and have been obsessing about it ever since. I *need* to go back! 5 days just wasn't enough. So much to see and do. Thanks for the inspo on what else I still need to do in the city whenever I'm lucky enough to return.
Ven a Guadalajara también querida, nos dará gusto recibirte. El barrio de La Capilla de Jesús te gustará, especialmente el mercado , se come rico. Saludos 👍 desde Guadalajara.
have been living in Mexico City for over 2 years and I would say it´s one of the best cities I have been to. Since I visited for the first time I fell in love with this massive city and I definitely stayed here, and I don't know until when I'll go back, it is definitely a beautiful city, immense and with very nice people, its desfortunatelly of the bad experience but I would say now is a very safe city
Thanks for showing us around Mexico City in this, should we say, very well timed vlog. Always love watching Lisa’s excitement for new places and great food!! Keep em coming
Thanks for not giving up after one bad apple among 20 million amazing peeps! The video was amazing and makes us all want to go visit such a magical place!!! Viva Mexico : )
My husband is Mexican and I am Puertoriccan, we have not yet visited each others countries, so this year it’s one of our bulletpoints on our to do list. His dad died when he was baby and he is buried in a cemetery in CDM. It’s one of his dreams to go ( he hasn’t been since he was 5) and be on the only presence of his father since he had memory. This is definitely a list of places to go following this once we have the opportunity. Thank you so much, I love your videos. It makes it easy for folk like us that don’t have a lot of money to see what we can expect when we are able to afford a nice getaway. ❤
wow, thank you for telling us! what an incredible trip this will be. we love being able to walk around a place and imagine what it's like through our loved ones, especially those no longer with us. we hope you have a wonderful, filling trip and feel the connection to the city ❤️
I'm so sorry about your horrible earlier experience. When I was a teen, and traveled with my parents to Mexico for the first time, they emphasized not dressing like a tourist. No tennis shoes, no sweatshirts, one pair of jeans, maybe one t-shirt. It has worked so far. I've traveled many places alone and haven't had any problems. Too bad you didn't enter la Casa de Azulejos, the National Palace on the Zocalo, the Basilica, or Ideal Bakery. Next time. Chapultepec has a long history. It was originally the Aztec emperor's summer home, later Ferdinand and Carlota built the castle. It was invaded by the U.S. (memorialized in the Battle Hymn of the Republic). The large monument with the tall columns at the base is in honor of the boy heroes, military cadets, who defended the castle against the U.S.
Not to say CDMX is the safest city in Mexico, but overall crimes have significantly dropped since 2019 - 60% less now. 2017-2019 were some really dark times for the city in terms of rising crime, so it is a great relief knowing they have declined and the city is safer now.
I love that you came back again, despite being afraid. I love that you went with your parents. I went w my family for the first time in 3/2023. I'm going back in a few months. I love your wife's vibe. Both of you are so chill yet adventurous. Love your videos.
Yay, you are traveling again AND the parents came! Great video. Loved it all. Everything looked beautiful and fun!! Saw sites that I will never see in person. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this. I am flying solo to Mexico City in 2 weeks. What I learned is traveling as a solo female travel is going to be very different than a group of 4. But, in a city of 21 million, I will fit in. I did NYC as a solo and got pickpocketed in Times Square. I was in London last summer and learned to visit the ATM at 8-9 am, later means I became a target of panhandlers. So that was a good reminder, sorry you got mugged.
I'm a woman from London and I travelled to Mexico City solo in April. Absolutely LOVED it. My hotel was in Roma Norte, very close to where they stayed in this video, but I visited all over the city and I felt very safe. I want to go back! So much more to see and do. You will *love* Mexico City. Have a great time!
That was FUN, guys! I always love the food commentary (makes my mouth water) and I especially enjoyed your music soundtrack to the video! Loved it....🙂
Another great video. Looking forward to this series of $100/ day style travel. Need to finally plan a trip to CDMX as it's a cheap direct flight so putting that on our list this year. Thanks for the excellent content as always. Safe travels!
Really sorry to hear about your traumatic experience in the past. My family was robbed at gunpoint while driving through Mexico about 33 years ago. Trauma will always remain with you. I’ve since traveled back to Mexico (Tijuana, Mexico City and Sinaloa) several times without issue. And I’ve had some of the best times I’ve ever had there. I love Mexico! 🇲🇽
What a terrific video! CDMX is fantastic; I’ve been there three times and could go three more. It’s just a feast for the senses and one of the great cities of the world.
When talking about the torta, you were somewhat right in thinking it would be chicken. A ‘milanesa’ is basically a breaded piece of meat, either chicken or steak. And, I have to say, great choice in going for the milanesa torta (those are the best!!).

So I’ve been watching lots of Mexico City videos cause I miss the city so much, I enjoyed this video sm thank uuu for ur amazing review on the city!!!
I spent months and months and months there between 2005 and 2019. I walked around drunk and alone at night in tourist areas, and non- tourist areas. I flagged down random taxis in the middle of the night. I never had a problem. But I'm big and ugly and lived in many big cities, and I grew up in the hood and knew how to carry myself so I don't look like a target. I'm sorry that happened to you. They were probably watching the atm and followed you from there. If folks stick to the busy areas, travel in couples or groups not too late at night, and dress and act like locals who know what they're doing and what they're going it's very unusual to have trouble. Cops are never your friends there or in the US. Try to seem not to see or notice them. And as you said. Try to carry only what can be stolen, and no expensive clothes, and no jewelry.
Street Tacos usually have double tortillas that are pretty fresh and warmed in the meat juices on the skillet at street vendors. They definitely eat WAY better
The Palace of the Fine Arts (Palacio de Bellas Artes) is also an Opera House and Concert Hall. The murals area is just where people hang out in between performances.
I have been to CDMX three times in the last year and CANNOT WAIT to go back! I love Mexico City...! I love Roma Norte and the Historic District. I hire a driver (Esteban Barrera) when I go. He is AMAZING! He is not only a driver, but will be your translator and will recommend different restaurants / sites / schedules / museums. If you travel one city over to Puebla, he is from Puebla and can show you all the best of everything! I cannot wait to get back there again. I literally feel at peace in CDMX (and specifically at the Basilica of Guadalupe). I could sit there for hours (and literally have sat there for hours) soaking up the ambiance of the place and of course - the tilma!
WOW! no grass growin' under your feet! Love to see you two on the move again....seems like you JUST finished the Camino and now you're hoofin around MC!! BUENO!!!!
Probably the city my wife and i have visited the most, never have had a problem, but yes it is not the safest city in the world, like any other city just go safe mode, one thing for sure AMAZING CITY TO VISIT!!!
For a family that loves to travel but we have to nickel and dime that luxury please keep this type of videos up! I love love love the details of every cent being documented.
Si duda eres rico en tu país y aquí lo serás aún más ,comida barata y buena ,la mejor comida es callejera y en restaurantes de ricos ,está hay maso menos su sazón pero el mejor zazon está en restaurantes más humildes y puestos callejeros
I love my city. Hope to go later this year. Took my 10 year old daughter last year and she wants to move there. Lol. Glad you enjoyed it. And yes you always heat up tortillas on a comal. If you don't have one, put in a small damped towel and microwave.
The absolute best thing in Mexico City is the National Museum of Anthropology/Museo Nacional de Antropología. Visiting it was the highlight of my visit to Mexico City.
AWESOME video!!! thanks so much! We love Mexico City!!! Too bad you didn’t make it to Coyoacán!!! So sorry you had a bad experience; scary and hard to shake off but Mexico is such an amazing place. Have you been to Oaxaca? You two would LOVE it!!! Really like your channel and am so glad you are back from the Camino. Loved your series on your walk. SO look forward to seeing more of your journeys. Go to OAXACA!!!!
As a Mexican that's not from the state of Oaxaca (I'm from Tabasco), I cannot recommend visiting Oaxaca enough. It's the food, the people, the scenery, the culture, all squared. I'd say it's like Mexico (the country) but squared.
I would say you didn’t even scratch half of the surface 🤭🤭🤭 every state in Mexico has different foods and traditions it’s like going to a different country but still in Mexico 😊😊
@@LisaAndJosh please do as a refugee I can’t go back to my beautiful country MEXICO yet. But probably in the next 3 years that’s going to be possible and I can not wait 🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the video. I leave for Mexico city in two days and have planned nothing yet, but mostly intend to wander around for 8 days, see things and eat things.
Great video! I’m heading back for the week of Dia de los Muertos! I’m looking forward to going during this time of year to get a full vantage point of this beautiful tradition.
Let me tell as México City born and raised just been robbed once and three times in major US cities ( Miami, Philly and los angeles last one with a gun in my head ) and no police around
If you ever go back to the area of the pyramids and have extra in the budget, there is a rather unique restaurant in a cave that’s called La Gruta. I ate there 30 years ago, and it’s one of my favorite memories from Mexico 😊
Mexico was a totally different country 10 years ago buddy, we were immersed in so much violence, people are way happier now and we have more opportunities for development and growth 😊, well, I am sure I don't need to explain how different is the country now, you've seen it.
Love the video and your channel! I’d be curious to hear your experience walking around and vlogging with what I assume is an expensive camera. My husband and I just quit our jobs to run our travel blog full time and want to focus on growing our RUclips channel- but worry about carrying around and using thousands of dollars of gear (given your previous experience in Mexico City!).
Great video. And let me tell you that actually now it’s a very different Mexico 🇲🇽 than when you came back in 2017. Since 2018, the politics in our country change towards a even more progressive and liberal country, and in great measure that also contributes to increase wealth and in consequence reduce insecurity. Hope that bad experience stay in the past, because as you saw in this last trip, Mexico now is way better. Hope you visit us again!
This Mexican Video and the Taipei Video (very long and interesting) were awesome!! Keep on vlogging. ❤ I dont know if its possible for: Make your vacations to your professions!
I'm new subscriber, this is a great video showing the places you visited in the capital of México. I was thinking about your safety concerns before coming back to our country México. I wish the best for all you, enjoy the city !!!
In case you ever get mugged or victim of any other crime, look for light poles with a Dot sign, they have Panic Buttons that put you in contact with the Central Monitoring Police and they have personal that speaks English, if you do this quickly they can rewind the Cameras to look at the event and fast forward while they follow the perps. With a very high capture rate. So it is wise that as you walk you locate these posts in case you ever need them you know where the closest one is.
Here in Texas thinking about going out to eat after this video and I wish I had a helicopter to go right now to Mexico City and eat/drink everything they throw at me 😂
I loved to see my city through your eyes! I'm sorry you had a bad experience in the past regarding safety :( Honestly, it's something your sort of "learn" through experience. Some practical-basic tips that can help you in the future: I always carry an old cellphone that works perfectly to give in case of an assault. As you said, I just carry the necessary cash and I mainly use credit card for the rest. When getting into an uber/taxi it's always best to double check the plates with the info on the app (the regulated taxis in the city must have a paper on the windows that shows the plates, picture and name of the driver). And last but not least, keep close your bags to avoid pick pockets in crowded areas. I'm glad you gave it another chance even though you had second thoughts. This city is beautiful! A mix of prehistoric history, European influence and modern civilization live through these streets. I'm proud to confirm that there will be always kind people here that will volunteer to help you if you need anything. I wish I could've showed you around haha. Still, I think you had a pretty broad experience! Some tourists get a very superficial visit but that was not the case for you; the metro, street food, lucha libre?! Amazing. Cheers :)
The world's most fascinating city! I visited last May (2023) for 9 days and I was in awe! By the way, 9 days wasn't enough to see and do everything! I need to go back. It's a massive city! Viva Mexico 🇲🇽 I live in NYC by the way so when I say it's CDMX is the world's greatest city, it really means it's far better than NYC lol. NYC is a dump these days

Let me tell as México City born and raised just been robbed once and three times in major US cities ( Miami, Philly and los angeles last one with a gun in my head ) and no police around
I love this video and happy you guys were having an amazing time and lucky you all ❤
If you ever go back to the area of the pyramids and have extra in the budget, there is a rather unique restaurant in a cave that’s called La Gruta.
Hola hola Gracias por visitar Mexico 🇲🇽 saludosssssssss Familia un Abrazoteeeeeeeeeeeeeee ♥️🇲🇽♥️🇲🇽
❤️❤️❤️🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Love the video and your channel! I’d be curious to hear your experience walking around and vlogging with what I assume is an expensive camera. My husband and I just quit our jobs to run our travel blog full time and want to focus on growing our RUclips channel- but worry about carrying around and using thousands of dollars of gear (given your previous experience in Mexico City!).
México is incredibel 👍👍👍
Great video. And let me tell you that actually now it’s a very different Mexico 🇲🇽 than when you came back in 2017. Since 2018, the politics in our country change towards a even more progressive and liberal country, and in great measure that also contributes to increase wealth and in consequence reduce insecurity. Hope that bad experience stay in the past, because as you saw in this last trip, Mexico now is way better. Hope you visit us again!
Yes agree! God protect and bless amlo he’s doing a good job!
Thank you for watching and for sharing your experience. We had such a great time and definitely will be back :)

Let's Go!! It's travel Thursday in Southeast Asia. 😄
Fun! Thank you for this!!
This will be my next trip for sure
Here in Texas thinking about going out to eat after this video and I wish I had a helicopter to go right now to Mexico City and eat/drink everything they throw at me 😂
oh man, we dream about the food!!
love your videos so much :)
Amazing. Cheers :)
Viva la lucha libre 🇲🇽 👍🏻 glad you guys had fun .. up next Tijuana street tacos and more lucha libre!!
As a Mexican American who looks Mexican and who has gone multiple times to Mexico. Even I am scared of Mexico City.
NO NO NO 3 DAYS ITS NOT ENOUGH OF TIME TO ENJOY MEXICO MY FRIENDS
WE KNOW BUT ITS ALL WE HAD WERE SORRY :)
Sorry about your being mugged. Try not to carry too much cash and always pay attention to your sorroundings. Enjoy this crazy and beautiful city.

Dont worry bro youll be alright. They still have sundown towns in USA where American citizens still have to worry..
Where did you purchase the wrestling tickets? I feel like Ticketmaster is over pricing them.
The world's most fascinating city! I visited last May (2023) for 9 days and I was in awe! By the way, 9 days wasn't enough to see and do everything! I need to go back. It's a massive city! Viva Mexico 🇲🇽
I live in NYC by the way so when I say it's CDMX is the world's greatest city, it really means it's far better than NYC lol. NYC is a dump these days
