I was feeling a bit disappointed that you did a boring LS swap but then I read your description above and I understand the reasons now. The new 2 door is a fabulous thing. We only got the 4 door sedans in Australia, nothing as exotic as the 2 door. Really enjoying binging your videos. 😊
You can. Save up for something thats cool, but not so desirable. These LTDs, and Galaxys arent that pricy. Pick up a cheap mechanic set of tools (like the ones reviewed in Project Farm) and learn. Manuals are around online, and plenty of people are willing to give help. True, everything is pricy now, but it isnt impossible. Also, craigslist and marketplace is your friend when it comes to used tools and parts. Avoid ebay, unless its a pure original showcare. They price gouge. But, you got somebody out there rooting for you!
I understand the LS swap, I am no hater. But it does feel better to have a ford in a ford, Chevy in a Chevy. I would have considered a 302 out of a late 90s exploder/mountaineer. They have the better flowing GT40 heads, efi, and can be found dirt cheap from salvage yards or as a complete donor. And you get a 8.8” rear with disc brakes and optional LSD.
This is the exact engine we get for early Ford Broncos. Often you can buy those explorers for very cheap because the trans was acting up. We tear those 5 liter motors down and the cross hatching is still intact after 200,000 miles. Great motor for a swap, the axles are just a sweet bonus!
Great video, made the swap look easy. What exhaust manifolds are you using? Did you have clearance issues with the steering box? I'm thinking of doing this to my 65 as well.
I used these cheap ones off Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074KSKGKQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1. It looks like they're unavailable, but if you look up headers for an LS swap into a chevy S10, you should find some. They fit perfect, no steering box issues. Let me know if you have anymore questions on the swap, I'm happy to help.
Thanks for sharing, I really enjoy watching the mostly mechanical work involved with these old Fords. But question, with the LS swap are you using an ECM in conjunction with it? If so, the original or another?
Beautiful work! Would love to get a small v-8 into my 92 Toyota Shortbed pickup when the 22RE finally dies cuz I don't want to give up this outrageously simple vehicle for the junk they're forcing on us today. I can offer room, board and all meals while you're doing the job lol.
Too bad you couldn't have found a nice 2-valve Romeo V8 out of a Crown Vic cop car/taxi w the same mileage. I hope you paid $10 for that 300K mi LS. Like your channel, tho.
If you ever end up with another FE, you might consider the "Carb Cheater" that Thunderhead289 created. For fun, he put a lawnmower carb on a Ford 302 and it ended up with amazing gas mileage (although the lawnmower carb robbed a ton of horsepower): ruclips.net/video/FwhMz2kR4pw/видео.html He has tried this on many different carbs and it seems to have a positive effect on mileage and performance.
@@SimonFordman Kind of makes me wish I was still driving something with a carb. I honestly think EFI is the default, not because it's necessarily better but because it was easier for the car companies to meet emission control requirements and mileage targets. Carbs work well, but only when they're adjusted properly. EFI works great until it doesn't. Then you're hooped.
He found a LS swapped w/manual 4dr post donor-driver for a parts car my man. What would you rather run? That clapped out 289 w/a leaky, slipping auto? C'mon man, it's a driver not some rare trailer, Queen.
I don't like breeding them. But it's not mine. The 289 would have made it worth more but again not mine. The car was a stick before junky Ls swap not mine again. He does a pretty good job I've liked most of his posts this one was ook.
This channel feels like primitive technology(the youtube channel) meets the roadkill show. Cant wait for more
Oooh, i see u r a man of culture as well
Setting that harness on fire was so freakin' AWESOME! 😂😂😂... Don't know why I thought it was so funny. Good work on the swap though.👍🏿
I’m a Ford dealership technician. I enjoy watching this because it reminds me of myself back in 1981.
The lack of shouted expletives is awe inspiring.
not to mention the relentless, methodical and at times ingenious work.
the safety slippers are a nice touch.
Steeltoed too😂
Simon knows his stuff, im learning soo much watching his vids
I really like your vídeos, i learn a lot from them , and the best part is that they don't have those boring song and conversations.
A young guy with old school technology. I enjoy watching your video’s and as an old Guy I learn from you. 👌🏻
I LOVE watching these sows! Excellent, methodical work, no mindless talking, etc. make the steps GREAT!

Thanks for taking the time to read the description and understand my reasoning. One day I’d love to ditch the LS setup
Oh yea you will-good luck though with the new setup -really enjoy your videos too
i put an injected 5 litre wndsor wit electronic 4 speed box into my 1981 xd falcon utility. work well, drives like a new car now.
That 289 engine would look real nice in your Falcon.
I really love your work, especially those who give the small details as much care as the big issues ! Thank you and stay safe !❤
This young guy is a Wizard!
Unbelievable mechanical talent. That little drive reminded me of the twin cities, more like St. Paul.
Excellent, enjoyed again. Graffiti Town was apocalyptic and wonderful with the V8 soundtrack. Wonderful.
This is my favorite of all your cars! Wish I could afford one!

This great sound remembers me to the Mustang in Bullit. V8 and shifting gears, perfect!
keep a fire extinguisher handy you never know
Old time hot rodding in the year 2024:)
Great job Simon (not the Fire lol) the Engine sounds good 👍
That was epic. 😂
Amazing work I reckon you would get a dead rabbit running again
Got to get me sum of those safety slippers.
Sorry man, but 26:20 had me laughing. Heaven knows I've had my share of "oh SHIT!" moments like that. 😂
im impressed with how quiet he stays. Not a single sound out from him.
Simon, I think you may need a shop in the country? So good. Excellent videos
Good show, Simon.
he needs a 55 chevy and he would be in his element
The one-man hood removal technique! Approved.
That fire was expected.... :D i was watching and was shocked when you light it after spraying the flammable cleaner :D
I love the V8 sound
audacious, creative and smart... i like it. you do good work.
Exceptional
10:51 don't worry be happy!

Yes, it has the factory Chevy Avalanche ECM/PCM
Like your style, subbed👌
Ford tough with Chevy stuff 👍
Mmmmmm yes....Cathedral ports....
And yes, brake cleaner is flammable, folks, so be... care... ful. 😐😑😐
Greetings. Why did you take the engine from the 4d4? That car looked in better shape than the 2dr. Thanks
The roof on the 4dr was rusted out due to it being a vinyl top car, it also had lots more rust overall.
Simon, safety boots?😮
Eargasm!
Hi Simon, question: Is the Southdale Mall closed yet in Edina? Thanks for your videos. Out.
They're still bustling
@@SimonFordman What I thought, but thanks for confirming. Out.
GOOD JOB
He dont say much lol but always lets us know what he is doing
i aint knockin it efi is good. but ill stick with a carburetor .

🤣🚒🔥 Seus videos são otimos! seus carros melhor ainda! parabéns!
i would stuck with the ford family of engines in my project.
The ONLY thing I DONT like about this video is,,, you got your Monkees shirt dirty !! That should be reserved for car shows and such 😁👍🇺🇸
I like your videos so much
But why are you doing the swap? The donor car looks in much better shape than yours
Fire in the hole
Looks like an ex police car in its making the efi should be sufficient for the weight of this project 2 doors hard to find
what are those seats out of?
27:00 lol🤣
Nice swap, and bitchin' car.
🤗❤️👍💯

Yea, I saw that video a while back. It really boggles my mind. I'd have to try it for myself to believe it. Definitely would be interesting to do.

What a waste of classic Ford machinery ! 😆
Where did you learn your trade ?
Can we all chip in to buy you a car hoist ?
