I am really glad they did a remastered. Zero Dawn’s atmosphere most of the time looks dead, or over saturated (bright orange desert??) The art style fix that makes it look closer to Forbidden West is where the magic is strongest
Thank you for your work, Dude. You do a really nice job! I just wish the bitrate of your videos could be better, since we kinda lose the point of being a graphic comparison where we can't clearly see some details. But it's not the worse on youtube to be fair
I seriously worry for the eyesight of some of these commenters. Its miles better, but visuals are the sideshow, the huge improvement is the new mocap which is transformative for a mild RPG with a conversation system. Also, Horizon Zero Dawn did look fine, I know that, but it was also Guerrillas first open world game, and a lot of its visuals were not artistic choices, but time/hardware/skill limitations. Look at the concept art for ZD, the remaster is a lot closer now. If you have it to upgrade its a no brainer.
That's what I kept browsing comments to find nobody talking about this. The improvements to conversations which is what you do for half the game is the best improvement to the game. The feel more human-like than the bland faces we had before
For me personally the improved vegetation alone is already a huge improvement. The original one has a lot of thin grass and shitty AA implementation, made the game looks mushy to me on movement even at 4K
I will stick with the original version (still didn't completed the game yet on RTX 3060 laptop GPU). And for this new material, i will discover it on the HORIZON FORBIDDEN WEST.
@saiibox3174 Yeah, I know, but it doesn't deserve to replay it in remaster mode. So playing Forbidden West with the new assessts used in Zero Dawn Remastered will be better and without wasting time.
@WalidZhani-me5yc if you're playing it for the story, the remaster is transformative with the new mocap. Character moments are a million times better.
That's at max settings though. You can probably drop a couple settings like shadows and get better fps while still looking significantly better than the original.
@@squeakymonkeyMaybe, but not by much. GPU sits at around 95-99% so even without CPU bottleneck there is not much to be gained here. However the 4070 is simply too slow for demanding PS5 level games running maxed out with DLSS Quality at 4K at high framerates. You need a 4080 for that. And that‘s also the recommended Spec for 4K btw. It‘s as demanding as Forbidden West. On a 4070 just lower settings a bit or use Performance upscaling + Frame Generation.
The art style was lost and it looks too much like the second one. Its and upgrade but they plastered greenery over everything so that the remastered version easily looks different even to casual users who would be oblivious to texture changes, more npcs and things like that. They did the same thing with TLOU 1
This is still the most unnecessary remaster of all time A lot of the comparisons are "look it looks different now" Not necessarily better, just different
I have a GTX-1650 with i7-10750H & 24GB RAM. Any suggestions which one will have better graphics - the original version or the remastered version. I know remastered has better graphics at max settings, but with this hardware I doubt it will run at max settings.
The original game isn't that old and still looks great. I am not sure it needed a remaster. If you own the original I don't think it is worth paying again unless you a re huge fan. If you are buying for the first time go for the remaster I guess but the original looked fine honestly.
Visually it's a big improvement but probably wouldn't be worth it, but the new mocap for the conversation system is a game changer. Took me right off the fence and I'm firmly in the remaster's garden now.
The remaster has better textures, and adds more foliage, but the shadows in HZD original is more detailed, as seen your videos. Another point is the waters, in original it was less transparent, was more muddy like a real river, in remastered it got better effects and reflex, but the muddy effect was removed.
My only main issue is how they made her face look so puffy and such for Forbidden West - and now in the remastered first game. I assume they tried to make her look a little more "every day woman" or something. But, they kept her body the same. So, not sure why they changed the look that way.
Original as Ps4 or original pc port? Because i played complete edition on pc, checked my screenshots and reflections looks way better then in this video.
For a paid upgrade it's pretty underwhelming. For me it's $10 and I don't think it's worth it for that level of visual upgrade. The original still looks great.
Are we looking at the same video? The difference between the original and the remaster is wild. Definitely worth 10 bucks for a much better looking game.
they just made it look a lot more inline with forbidden west for a more seamless transition if u want to replay zero dawn before playing forbidden west. not a bad option, but a bit too early i think.
People saying the original looks way better are definitely lying. I played the original, and I don't plan on playing the remastered, but even I know the remastered are leaps and bounds better than the original.
Bruh, that's literally what a remaster is. Modified, enhanced graphics. And there were no mods that brought the original even close to this level of quality.
@NotLanny bruh bruh we have mods for it, and this not an super old game that we needs a remaster, nobody said "pls sony, make a remaster of HORIZON ZERO DAWN for us"
@@OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOok It was unnecessary, yes, but that doesn't mean it doesn't look any better. And your initial argument is still just as false as before.
@NotLanny better? Better what? Is it better to lose more than 25fps for more grass? C'mon dude, you're right about the differences between remasters and mods, but this... Only have more grass and colors, change nothing and lose 25fps, this is a joke
Of all the remasters that didn't need to happen, this one didn't need to happen the most! -40% performance for +2% (debatable) graphics bling. Not good!
doesnt this just show lazy develpors could they not of done this originally . the gaming industry is finished this was one of the better games but go lower down they keep feeding us shite .
They just use entirely different assets in a lot of scenes, so there's no real winner. They didn't upgrade the assets, like in a lot of remasters, but replaced them. The LOD pop in of the original was annoying though
@@AnimeUniverseDE That's not what they did, though. Rather than just replace file textures from the old game with the new ones, they physically went in and added new objects/foliage. The work involved is insane compared to just a reskin, especially when you consider how large the game world in Zero Dawn is.

There is a good balance between the improved visual quality and perfomance costs. Visual looks stuning on remastered!

HZD remastered, now with 16x more saturation!
Yeah it doesn't have a saturation increase. I has a modern lighting rendering engine - so better brightness and contrast recreation.
I noticed the tree tops move reaaally weird in remaster, its visible in 2:28, in original the shake was more natural
Idk, that 20-30fps drop is brutal.
look at meridian -40-50 fps, is some area getting 42 fps(6:55), this remaster needs some patches

Wonder how good it would do at 1440p
I already tested the 4070 at 1440p in separate video, you can find it in the recent videos here on this channel.
as ridiculous as remastering a 2017 game sounds, the visual improvements are kinda crazy.
60fps on 4k dlss Quality ultra details is exactly the average performance of forbidden west on a 4070. Exactly the same game and assets we can say
Can third party mods do a similar thing for games like son of Rome?
No. I mean yes anything is possible but you need to pay those modders money to work on the mods like it's their day job.
