Great video ! I have two requests: wouldn't it be possible to mark the start line on the monitor so we spectators have a better orientation ? 2.: is the man on the camera a sailor ? very often when there comes a tricky situation he was changing to other boats ... - hello from germany and looking forward to the next race in 2022
I gotta say....watching all these boats worm their way around the start is a lot like watching the famous bar scene in the original Star Wars: wow! what an odd array of sizes and shapes!
Do you know how windy it is out in the Solent at present? My trees are bent over and I’m 8 miles as the crow flies from the line - all the birds are grounded except for seagulls.
@@PhilbyFavourites yes - lovely windsurfing conditions too! Often have drone coverage of windsurfing races at sea - pity they can't also do it for the sailing. All the spectators have now are tracking lines on a map - would be great to have video coverage - even a live stream from a few of the yachts would be good!
I'd love to see more coverage showing how the boats handle. When the big mutis tack you look away, but I want to compare how they manage their boats to how I do, and maybe learn something. Also, how about more coverage of the real boats that us real people can afford/sail? Were there no private multihulls? I thought I saw some at the start, but you seem to have forgotten about them. Or did I skim the video too quickly?
@@martinlaver007 ;- Brad Butterworth on alert as torrid weather forecast for Sydney to Hobart yacht race, - He's the tactician on the the 88-footer expected to challenge the supermaxis in the Sydney to Hobart, but noted Kiwi yachtie Brad Butterworth simply wants Rambler 88 to finish the race in one piece. Early weather forecasts of a torrid opening night in the annual dash down the east coast have evoked memories of the deadly 1998 event that claimed six lives and sank five boats.
Wonder why Refanut S1. the Swedish yacht did not start together with Storvogel H700. We raced her in 1963 in Round Gotland race in the same RORC 1 class. And I sailed Fastnet on Stormvogel in 1963 too. Fun to see her looking so good today too. S/y Refanut was launched in 1955. sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/Y_Refanut Anybody here who also has sailed with CB.

This coverage is pretty much unwatchable, especially compared with the Hobart race that the Aussies put on. Yacht racing is boring enough without without making such a dogs breakfast of the coverage of the start. Granted the weather will usually be worse than Boxing Day in Sydney and it certainly looks like there are more resources put into the Aussie coverage however, there are real problems with this. The commentary didn't match the pictures for a start and the direction missed action that I was specifically tuning in for. For instance, with regard to the multi hulls I was left guessing who actually lead off the line, perhaps Sodebo, but then there seemed to be a lead change perhaps? Was there a cross where Gigtana took it on? Certainly didn't see one which is what you should be showing surely. Whoever was directing didn't seem to understand racing and the benefit of showing passages that told stories from the start. There seemed to be a concentration on just get any pictures of sailing boats off Cowes.
Sorry , but the start of scorpious is just ridiculous. They were still winning, so that shows the value of races like that. If you really want to know your skills, sail a one design boat. Everything else is poorly just about the money, no sports!
Wonderful start and bravo for the outstanding coverage !
You missed the collision at 2:08:00
Great coverage thanks. Huge respect for these sailors.
Where is Camanchi?

Otherwise great coverage, but would have loved a proper straight view of the start line
Good luck Rob & Debbie
Спасибо за материал!!! Живут же люди!!!
Great job to the whole team behind the broadcast. Well done. Truly superb.
Thanks Georges. Best wishes!
Sailing is poetry so very appropriate to open and close with poetry! Well Done!

Great video footage. Pity there's no drone footage beyond the start.

Good coverage with exceptional commentary both off and on the water, really nice to see the faces of the team, well done all.
Thanks, David. The team will appreciate your kind words.
Good coverage of a great Regatta. Would enjoy graphic that superimposes starting line
good Contessa weather
Great work, please come down and do the Sydney-Hobart start!
Collision at 2:08 missed by commentators.

Skorpios is (almost) like the 2021 version of a J class
See them in Plymouth.....
Not Plymouth
Seem to be running a touch late
The all off keel race waiting for another tragedy.
Someone dragged Pip off a boat- Better be good!
So the Yanks had the record and they changed the course after a gazillion years of sailing this race so they could nullify the record, brilliant!!
