He is using a different camera though. Did you install an Eonon A0125? It sounds like your camera might be messed up, mine is not ever green, at night it’s full color and still pretty easy to see because of the reverse lights. Also if you have to turn on your lights for the camera to work you likely tapped into the wrong wires, not too sure about the speed 3 wiring diagram but sounds like you tapped into the tail lights instead of the reverse lights.

Check to make sure your t taps have fully been seated into the wire, also check the connector where you crimped the wire down making sure that the conductor is exposed to the metal connector.
@@D_Spear yeah used the taps you listed just to be safe! Went and did four sets of crimps and none worked but the first try. all seemed well set and didn't budge with any tugs. Can you expose the wire prior to tapping to ensure conduction?

I installed a backup camera in my 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 and your video was so helpful! Thank you so much! I followed your video to get the cable to the back of the car and then followed ruclips.net/video/4QBIhqVhPD8/видео.html to see the hatchback specific instructions. The whole cable run is hidden so well. Looks very neat and professional.
Hi, I have the same scenario ATM. When following the other video for the hatchback specs, he grounds one wire and t taps another into the "signal cable" he mentions. He is using a different camera though. Did you install an Eonon A0125? If so can you advise where you connected the red and black cables closest to the camera and also if you left the red one free near the system as he has in this video? Much appreciated!
@@dariorossi4769 Yes, I installed the Eonon A0125. I did exactly what was shown in the other video. I t tapped the red cable to the white-red wire which is the power cable for the reverse lights. I shoved the black ground cable between a bolt and a nut connected to the body of the car. The red cable near the AV system was left free as shown in this video.
Hope this helps!
@@PulkitBudhiraja That's exactly what I needed to know, thanks!
How is the camera at night? Because I put mine on and it looks all greenish I have to try it during the day to see if it’s any better. Also I have a hatchback speed3 and for my camera to work I have to have the lights on or else it says no signal. How could I fix that any tips?
It sounds like your camera might be messed up, mine is not ever green, at night it’s full color and still pretty easy to see because of the reverse lights. Also if you have to turn on your lights for the camera to work you likely tapped into the wrong wires, not too sure about the speed 3 wiring diagram but sounds like you tapped into the tail lights instead of the reverse lights.
@@D_Spear ok I’ll have to go back in and adjust it and so you think I would be able to go to Best Buy and buy a camera from them and be able to plug it in easily?
Thank you
Can you do the same to a 2013 Mazda 3?
I don’t see why not, it wouldn’t make sense for Mazda to change the wiring coloring for the next model year.
Thank u 🙏
How is everyone mazda 3 can bus and volume function. Is is laggy at all ?
It’s laggy for sure, this unit isn’t the fastest but I’d rather have it compared to stock radio. It probably takes a second for the volume to respond.
Very helpful
I’m glad it helped. Please like and subscribe to my channel, it will
Help me out a lot!
How do you know when to stop and if the camera can survive with water
The lines in the camera indicate how close you are to an object. And the camera is ip65 rated I wanna say. So it’s built for the weather.
Mine isn't working. Is it possible I need to go to the lighter port?
What year is your Mazda and did you wire it up to the exact wires I used?
I got it to work for a minute but then I blew a fuse. It kept going so I ended up rewiring the entire radio. I couldn't get my steering wheel interface to work either. I have a 2013 Mazda 3 but I don't know if it's a sport or an I or an m 🤦
@@D_Spear okay so I think there's something wrong with displacing. I have gone through so many fuses, I ended up taking out the camera and doing it wheel interface but now I can't even get the radio to work. It just keeps blowing 😭 I cut all the wires back clean and use what connectors and redid the entire thing thinking it might be something faulty there. I don't even know what to do now 🤦
@@customcraftsafterdark1744 make sure your camera wire is not pinched anywhere, it sounds like the positive wire is going to ground. Check your wiring on the radio unit too, maybe one of the wires is pinched there. Is it blowing the fuse on the radio or on the factory Mazda fuse box?
@@D_Spear no it was the actual head unit. I double triple checked my wiring so many times and followed everything through with my meter reader. Finally after getting on Reddit someone suggested to plug in my old unit and see if that worked. I did that this morning and everything was fine, so it was just the crappy Amazon unit 🤣🤣🤣 I just got done putting in a pioneer in the camera is working fabulous 👍👍👍
Can we connect dash cam ?
Yes the dash cam connects via usb
Nice video
Thanks man. Have you still been thinking about looking into being an electrician?
Yes. I am still interested in becoming an electrician. I looked at the local community college that has a program but unfortunately they are only accepting students every other Fall semester. I’ll have to inquire if they’ll be accepting this year. I’ll keep you posted. Thanks! 🤙🏼
Dude I'm absolutely losing my mind, I've got everything wired and lined up exactly. Video came on once, and now nothing. Any tips?
Check to make sure your t taps have fully been seated into the wire, also check the connector where you crimped the wire down making sure that the conductor is exposed to the metal connector.
I guess I should ask if you used the t taps?
@@D_Spear yeah used the taps you listed just to be safe! Went and did four sets of crimps and none worked but the first try. all seemed well set and didn't budge with any tugs. Can you expose the wire prior to tapping to ensure conduction?
@@digitaltapetransfers2842 the t taps should slightly cut through the wire itself, exposing it yourself would be hard to not cause damage to the wire. You can try moving the taps in a circle a few times back and forth after you set it to make sure that the insulation is fully cut through. Since you mention it worked at first you have a loose connection somewhere.
@@D_Spear ah, that would be a valid concern, i don't want to destroy that! Out of day light, I'll be giving them spins tomorrow and hope for the best! Thanks so much man! Video was awesome and very informative!
What size is the wire so I use the right tap
I believe I used the 20-22 AWG.
Where do you put the GPS antenna?
I placed it on the left side of my dash on top but I don’t feel like it works very well.
I ended up putting it on the passenger side but I'm not sure yet how to use it. I think I need to download maps but not really sure. How do you use it offline?@@D_Spear
Do I land the red wire on the camera side anywhere?
You do not, not sure why they included that as it’s not needed.
Thanks idk RUclips didn’t notify me of this comment
@@jaayb559 no problem, please subscribe if you haven’t already!
@@D_Spear no problem I’m doing the car right now one more question I’m tryin to shove the camera wires in the back the the other tail light wires but the camera wires keep falling out
@@jaayb559 push them in and wrap tape around the camera wire and the factory wiring after you push them in. This is just for temporary purposes. For please watch my t tap video for a solution to do it properly, but this will work until you can do that.
Ok

Absolute piece of junk. The camera that came free with the unit looks to be faulty because I can't get a picture. The unit is wired up correctly but the steering wheel controls don't work. I am getting a signal from the steering wheel but the unit will not recognise it. If I try select a model in factory settings it tells me "app not installed."
BUT the BIGGEST letdown is Apple CarPlay. The volume of the native radio is loud enough to be obnoxious but when using CarPlay it is so low as to be useless.
I purchased the unit direct from the company. The online "live chat" function always ends up like this
"The line is busy right now, please leave your message, we will reply to you asap. Thanks."
They do not reply to "support" emails and there is no phone number.
My money is lost. Don't loose yours.
