Cody is the man. His advice is practical and makes good sense. I'm currently enjoying his book. Putting together enough food to survive for 2-3 months is actually very manageable. Rice and dried beans are cheap in bulk and last years if stored properly.
My husband was activated and on the ground two days before hurricane katrina hit and the military and local authorities made it quite clear that they should move out. He actually had people say that they wouldn't get on the school buses provided for evacuation because they weren't air conditioned. So the roads being clogged was quite simply the result of human stupidity. Yes people are that petty and selfish. And before anyone says anything...I live in Louisiana so yes I know first hand what was going on.
Cody knows his shit, I'll tell you that. When I went thru jungle training in Fort Sherman, Panama way back, I wish that I would have known 10% of what both Cody and Joe know. But I got out but still know enough to keep my ass alive during the coming war here in the US. My advise: start reading, training, & stockpiling. Oh yeah, get your ammo before Obamo. Sempre Fi'
every single person in the world should pay very close attention to everything that Cody has to say! Cody is awesome, if i could only spend 5 minutes in his company would be like a dream come true
what i like about cody is that he understands very well that its is not the gear you have because it can always be taken from you but the skills you have thats how to prepare for hell to break loose
Good stuff. I've read both books. I also lived through three hurricanes in six weeks in Florida and grew up in rural Maine often being snowed in. The mind is the most important survival tool... that and a good knife.
Cody's books are a must read. Believe it or not, the grid has gone down before in the United States - luckily the grid was limited to Telegraph systems during the Solar Storm of 1859. It's happened before and maximum solar activity is again upon us... yikes! Even if it doesn't, with all of the recent natural disasters, meteors, asteroids, terrorist attacks, home invasions, and economic crises people really should think about being more prepared and self-reliant. It definitely can't hurt.
"Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong" - Murphys law "If anything simply can not go wrong, it will anyway" - Murphys law Two VERY true statements that explain the situations that are being talked about here
A Kudo to Cody, I thought of him when I connected my Classic #1 to my Bokor Black Rold, A while ago, I got the Rold, It's a great knife in D2 for the price. But the Sheath was Dangerously Loose. I did injure myself badly. Since then I put a Belt Loop on it, But the Handle Strap was a little loose. So that's where I put my Classic #1 on. Right in the handle strap, Not only did it tighten the strap up, But now I have two great knives that actually fit good and look good. I enjoy listening to Mr. London, and what he accomplished for our community. Thanx You Mr. Landing.
you do make a good point and i agree we should think better of ourselves yet still be on guard because as we all can see everyday evil is very real and men choose to not listen to their conscience regularly. when they become stressed, hungry, afraid..etc.. selfishness will be the real enemy wshtf no matter where you are.
Cody, I appreciate your videos. As a survivalist living in the Flagstaff area I get people asking me to make survival videos but all I need to do is send a link of yours & Daves then review it with them. Keep up the outstanding work. I hope to make it down to Prescott sometime soon & get a chance to shake your hand. ;)
I've went an entire year without a drop of rain: Duddleyville Arizona. It's a great thing to know your sitting on Arizona's largest water table 22' down.
As a fellow barefooter I can tell you that I get service even if there is a No Shoes/Shirt/Service sign. Many times I've had to educate people that there are NO health laws or codes about walking barefoot in public. I have letters from all 50 states that I can and have had to show to store employees/managers so that they can see firsthand that no law/code exists in their particular state. I have letters from chain/corporate stores absolving me of having to wear shoes, no matter where I am.
Yeah most people just don't understand how dependable they are on their cities. First time I went into deep jungle I realized how dependable I was. Suddenly your life is in the hands of the people you are visiting, you realize you actually are not able at all to keep yourself alive, you realize you would die in 1 night if left alone. Its a pretty humbling experience tbh.
He talks a lot about pooping and poop in general. But all in all Cody has a wealth and lifetime of knowledge. If I had a couple extra grand I'd definitely take up some of his classes in AZ.
My and my friends had a lil bet on what kills more per year, Heat or cold. I honestly thought heat but at least thought they'd be fairly even. No!... For every one person killed by heat, the cold gets 7.
He talks about the most basic yet most important things people need to know to be prepared for disaster in an urban environment. Try to make that into a reality show for tv and see how quickly people stop watching.
Ha! And how does Cody think things are going since the change in the "political scene" in 2008? Seems to me we might be in greater need of his skills than ever.
I think he "new guy", Joe, brings something different to the table. It's good to get the two ends of the spectrum when dealing with this subject. Joe has a different game plan and has some great advice as well.
I like that he goes over the practical things like that. Waste, whether in the form of feces/urine or just trash will need to be dealt with whether on the go or if for a bug-in. Props for addressing the big turd elephant in the room.
He does seem to talk about that quite a bit, but look what happened when that cruise ship lost power. That was one of their biggest problems and it was even parodied on SNL shortly afterward. Similar to what happens when trash collectors in big cities go on strike. That "stuff" piles up everywhere.
cody right i just made 5 gallon lowes pails of food i took a sharpie and put 8/13 or 9/13 that month and year done there canned food inside them, i made a composting tollet out of 5 gallon bucket and wood chips with old used tollet seat and iused left over wood! i made solar panels holders, making your own power, i did that a week ago! if water quits how do i take care of human waist! cody a great person for teaching people
For bikes and cars I know of a place thatuses silicone to inflate tires and tubes its about 40 dollars for one wheele on a wheelbarrel but you never have to worry about a flat ever.
I find this topic to be something that people are for some reason afraid to talk about, almost for fear of ridicule. Or, they are just too busy being a slave to their work, coming home to turn on the TV, paying bills, getting the kids ready, and repeating. Either way, eventually...for whatever reason it becomes, many people are going to be in for a rude awakening.
Obviously you fail to grasp the situation. Cody is very intelligent, highly skilled and educated man; also in primitive or aboriginal living skills. He TEACHES at colleges, he teaches classes as his business, he designed and built a sustainable homestead completely off the grid. He is helping people prepare for emergencies, to live through disaster, to survive if lost or your car strands you in the middle of no-where in winter. He respects the earth and cooperates with the environment he's in.
@SupernautG 1. Oakland Riots 2. LA Riots 3. Widespread looting after Katrina I love our country. I love the freedoms we have. I treasure the liberties that have been paid for in blood by those that went before us. The downside to these freedoms is an overriding culture of pervasive 'Me Firsts'. We have people trampled going into Wal Mart on black Fridays, as an example. Any survivalist culture really has to take that into account to be viable. It's a situation that will most likely exist.
I made several lamps by taking aluminum beer or soda can that have twist off caps, adding wick from a cotton mop and using pork lard, last forever and it smells of bacon.
How does he get his do-rag so perfect. I wear them too and cannot get them that perfect. He must have a smaller head than mine. I do use Shemagh Desert Scarves but those items are 42x42.
read about how septic systems work...very informative. there are pet septic system type containers you can put in your back yard...they also have in home composting toilets!!! there are many ways to deal with this issue. cody harps on human waste because more people die from the aftermath (cholera, diarrhea...) than from the disaster. many an army was defeated not by the enemy but from disease caused by poor sanitary practices. if you have any questions give me a holler!
Just like Cody said at the very beginning of the video, "it's for the average Joe and Jane americana"....he means its for 'beginners, or "sheeple", Its not a book on Scenarios and outcomes, or 'advanced nuclear disaster tactical evasion'... its about basic survival
What this man is saying is if the systems fails what do you do. The Government fail action must be immediate. I Love my Government but They need to look at the Future.
You sir are living in a dream world. Watch a marathon of "Gangland" - when people get hungry and desperate, they will be as dangerous (or more so!) than the thugs on that show - also, research other countries where it's already happened, or even Hurricane Katrina! If you don't know history, you're doomed to repeat it. If the grid goes down that means no food delivery and no clean water supply, and those are critical. The unprepared will become desperate when they realize help isn't coming.
The problem with medical training is that even a medical professional like myself is helpless without medications, dressings ect. The best bet are the basics. Basic 1 water, basic 2 food, basic 3 medications IF neeeded and mostly faith that God will see to your needs!!
I don't think he ever said that the CDC "cares" about us... Just that they recommend what we need. FEMA makes similar recommendations for more generic disasters...

After you and Dave left Duel Survivor I stopped watching it. You two guys need to get together and do another show!
We are thankful for Cody Lundin. We do not take him for granted.
Cody knows his shit, I'll tell you that. When I went thru jungle training in Fort Sherman, Panama way back, I wish that I would have known 10% of what both Cody and Joe know. I have to read Cody´s books, he rocks and totally knows what he´s talking about! Please get CODY AND DAVE back together, on t.v!
i love how he talks so fast without making so many mistakes...he doesn't studder at all...god bless cody and DUAL SURVIVAL
I love Cody and will miss Dave. I think these two men are so smart and if ever I was lost or stranded I would pray for them to appear!!!
this was good - he was a pleasant TV personality to watch, and seems like a cool person
His book should be mandatory reading for those living in Atlanta... :)
every single person in the world should pay very close attention to everything that Cody has to say! Cody is awesome, if i could only spend 5 minutes in his company would be like a dream come true
Just remember, Cody Lundin is a survival machine :-) Sempre Fi'
i wish 30 minutes of my lectures in schools went by this fast. i could listen to cody's survival strategies for hours without getting bored
Have followed you Cody on many journeys.
This is one of your best teaching adventures ever.
Thank you!
what i like about cody is that he understands very well that its is not the gear you have because it can always be taken from you but the skills you have thats how to prepare for hell to break loose

This guy is AWESOME! I will support him.
Man I just heard about this guy. Love his sense of humour/humor.
"...you still poop the same way, you still eat the same way..." :)
love your show!!..i watch it faithfully....
Good stuff. I've read both books. I also lived through three hurricanes in six weeks in Florida and grew up in rural Maine often being snowed in. The mind is the most important survival tool... that and a good knife.

Codi you are awesome! I would love to see another show of you and Dave. Please make it happen... I made that show as part of my life
Just bought the book, this man knows his subject well! Nice one Cody!
Brilliant!
Excellent information. Buying the book right away, to help with my prepping and knowledge.
I really enjoyed listening to this. Very informative. Great book also. I read it.

Great interview
Cody gives new meaning to when the sh$t hits the fan.
Excellent.
this guy rocks, funny to hear from him talk about shows as he does not wear them good stuff let all open our eyes and see whats going on
This dudes spirit is fucking awesome
people never think about when they in disaster than they will think about it's too late.
I have Cody`s book and its awesome...
Nice interview!
And pronunciation will be KEY when disaster does strike...
Big Fan off Cody!
I don't understand why 6 people would dislike this video. I guess they don't like life...
"Natasha... mmmm." Lol

I want every American to know That as long as
Canada is not under the same disaster we will be there for you
I wish Cody got back together with Dave and did a project without stupid Discovery channel..
My and my friends had a lil bet on what kills more per year, Heat or cold. I honestly thought heat but at least thought they'd be fairly even. No!... For every one person killed by heat, the cold gets 7.
got to love that guy. too bad there is not more material from him.....
He talks about the most basic yet most important things people need to know to be prepared for disaster in an urban environment. Try to make that into a reality show for tv and see how quickly people stop watching.
good video im goin to buy that book
Ha! And how does Cody think things are going since the change in the "political scene" in 2008? Seems to me we might be in greater need of his skills than ever.
number 2 is always number 1 on Codys mind
I think he "new guy", Joe, brings something different to the table. It's good to get the two ends of the spectrum when dealing with this subject. Joe has a different game plan and has some great advice as well.
written while listening to "...Iron Maiden..." Awesome stuff!
I think producers see the entertainment value in their interactions.
Cody's a smart man. The only question I have is if the sign says, "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service", does he get service?
I like that he goes over the practical things like that. Waste, whether in the form of feces/urine or just trash will need to be dealt with whether on the go or if for a bug-in. Props for addressing the big turd elephant in the room.

"What not" = or so forth, etc etc, A minor or unspecified object or article.
Good question, doesnt deserve the thumbs down
just started getting serious. thanks for your insight, Gonna go get another 55 gal water barrel......
IMO, you can not store enough food. You have to maintain sustainable food.
"When all hell breaks loose" can take out your storage instantly.
Yep, what clothes you wear definitely determine how qualified you are to give advice.

You got to understand Cody is so board out there that pooping is a fun thing.

@troybrownrigg so which cities are covered by that water table. Im in arizona, but i live near phoenix
"When All Hell Breaks Loose," how long are those "batteries" going to last you in that flashlight? (LED or NON)
