I teach basic survival, and I market myself as a Les Stroud-Dave Canterbury type survival instructor. Basically a by the book, no non-sense survivalist. But I have a HUGE respect for Cody Lundin and Matt Graham. Those two are IT when it comes to bare bones survival.
I like your videos and i eprshate that you would try and share valuable information oh and you were great on dual survival my wife and son love it thank you.
My parents always kept gallons and gallons of water in the basement along with a little cupboard of canned food. They would save old juice jugs and what not clean them out then fill them up withwater. They weren't even like "survivalist" either... I always was confused why when I went over friends houses why they didn't have extra water in their basement... and yes we did use the water in power outages.
If you ever lived the old way, you would understand this man is giving you valuable information. I practice herbal health, and healing. We live in a time where most people have evolved living way beyond the knowledge of the old ways that came with less convenience. People die more every day from the way they eat, That is a disaster. It would be wise to practice emergency survival, not just stock up and if you are lucky enough to survive a Big disaster, Good luck. We should practice living right each day and being the evidence of the love God gave us, to love each other and use that love to reach out a helping hand to a sick and dieing world. The world needs to stock up on and practice this kind of survival so your journey, when you die will not be filled with unchangeable regret. we are the evidence and reflection daily what we hold inside us. Add this in your survival kit. Love to all.
That grocery store is the the Holman QFC in North Seattle. I remember watching this on a local public cable channel here but I never knew it was this guy!
Cody rocks on Dual Survivor show on Discovery!!!!!! This guy is the real deal... He beats the crap out of the ex-military guy, who is his partner on this show. This show has turned out to be my fav. on tv!! Cody I'm not sure how Cody seems to know about EVERYTHING, even the jungles in Asia, it's amazing!!!!!
Most stores generally have a no shirt/shoe policy. But Cody has actually spoken to the managers at most places and they allow him to go barefoot. Except the restaurants, he puts on thin sandals.
@MultiCrisper That's just Cody. It's his own personal survival philosophy. Not wearing shoes forces him to pick his steps and take it slow, which allows him to pick out things most people would miss. His philosophy is "work with nature for survival, not against it." He does wear sandals and even boots as the terrain or situation requires.
Cody is great, and has a lot more good tricks. (especially making fire) But defense matters too. No use in having supplies you can't defend from bad people. Leaves you nothing to share with the good ones. I have his whole list, but I also have a pistol and rifle. Prefer something bigger than rats to hunt if nothing else.
Homeless people are probably in the best position to survive in a city. While they're not quite in a survival situation, they still probably have a lot of tricks that we just don't need to think about in our homes.
I agree .... I've heard his reasons for going barefoot and they are good reasons, but he just doesn't seem to address the fact that there's broken glass all over the place everywhere. His response to that is, "walk slower and be more careful". Hmm .... I'd rather just wear shoes. But I do wear Vibram FiveFingers and Xero shoes whever I can to get the health benes of going barefoot.
Cody's a nutter, but what he preaches it smart, reasonable and practical. The book When All Hell Breaks Loose feels like it's aimed at a young audience at times but then the point of the book is to make it as close to idiot proof as possible. Worth a read.
Interesting, practical common sense advice rather than some of the hyperbole of some survivalists who seem to think guns and more guns and stacks of ammo come first! This is far more useful. Thanks.
Happy belated birthday Cody! 🎉🎉🎉🎉just sitting here in Louseyanna (pun intended) re-watching season 1 & 2. Not sure if I can stomach season 3 with JT. Seriously warped individual. Possibly small man's complex! Wishing you were back on TV. Really loved the chemistry with you and Dave. I loved the way you guys worked together. It was alot more of what "Dual Survivor the art of self reliance" was supposed to be about. For those of you that like to Google things here is what that means. "Self-reliance is about living a life in which you make decisions and opinions with primary respect to your own experience of the world. You trust yourself. You're true to yourself. This doesn't mean living in a void, it just means that we're conscious about our relationship to the world and other people." In my opinion JT didn't have those skills. He was more of a one man show. He nauseated me! Just wanted to wish you a Happy Belated birthday 🎉🎉🎉! Thinking of you today March 20, 2023! You are a legend Cody!Someone should start a show called "Cody and Dave and no one else." Maybe history channel. ❤❤❤
Rice and beans take a long time to cook unless they are instant rice and pre-coooked or dehydrated beans. Check out what foods backpackers carry for your emergency pantry, you may have to be mobile in a disaster. Foods that do not require cooking or refrigeration- nuts, dried or canned meats, peanut butter etc. or ones that need only the addition of boiling water are probably more useful in that situation. Also check out thermos cooking or using a pot cozy ( or haybox type cooker) on RUclips to save on fuel and physical energy. Backpackers also carry lightweight and portable water filters such as the Sawyer - the mini does 100, 000 gallons, Mine cost less than twenty five bucks at a camping store. It can be attached to a smart water bottle ( or a 20 oz Coke bottle) or can be used with a straw and there are other ones that are portable and not too expensive. They do not remove chemicals only biohazardous critters.
Those were mouse traps. You're going to want big rat traps to catch a wider range of small mammals. That was hilarious how he kept talking about dealing with corpses. I've got his book. It's a good one.
I remembered seeing this when Covid hit so I looked it up and re-watched it again right before it entered our country. I did everything he said minus the rat traps 🤢 including buying toilet paper and lysol wipes when I stocked up on the paper products. It sure paid off.
