I wouldn't say it's "thinking too much about it", at all. My take is that these are "inspired by" the originals, not intended to be identical. I love the throwback aspect of these!
I'm glad they didn't go with soft goods. I know it holds back the articulation but it always just looks so much better. if only they could have saved Luke...
I agree with you about the soft goods on this figure. In 1977 Kenner made a running change and created the most memorable soft goods in action figure history. Now in 2018- Hasbro gives us traffic cones
You get an 'A' for effort, trying to open it gently. And A+ for not hesitating to cut open the robe and show us all the glory. The sculpt and articulation underneath the robe was an unexpected bonus. Still, it does feel a bit pricey, but $40 for a 2 pack would have been just fine. After all, one does want a group of Jawas.
Great vid as always, Robo! A quick Jawa mod tip: you can get full kick poses and free up the legs if you carefully cut the seam of the little skirt piece right down the front. It looks, well, seamless, and is a pretty simple but effective modification. Makes me wonder why they didn't manufacture it that way but figured what the heck. Got the idea while watching this video. :)
Thanks man. I also was able to remove the hood, though it took some trouble as it's tabbed in and glued directly onto the head. It still stays on just fine however!
damn, that intro made super happy because it looked like they finally gave Jawas some articulation bellow the waist but nope... that was just messing around. So this is essentially the 3 3/4 fig blown up. No improvements at all. I also wanted to army build these, i would've customized them to make them look different but im probably just getting one at most. If i find it for cheap.
But i dont want to slice up the toy. Specially since that wasnt meant to be. If i get one for cheap i guess i'll slice it up and see what can i do. If i achieve something cool i guess that would lead me to get some more.
I'll be cutting mine along the join at the front. I did it with Palpatine and Obi-wan it allows heaps more poseability and the plastic doesn't tear like I thought it might.
These guys were basically invincible in the Lego Star Wars: the Complete Saga game. They were walking around the sandcrawler and you could kill them but they'd just reappear.
Jawas are my second favorite aliens from Star Wars the Twi'lek is my first. I've always had a fantasy of a Star Wars character who had a Jawa sidekick. A little buddy who sometimes bails the protagonist out of problems. Maybe some fist bumps and play Dejarik together on a ship. The Jawa always wins the game somehow.
Nice review! Hoping I'll at least see one figure from this wave... scalpers in my area are relentless... but this is a cool little figure! The gun that comes attached to his bandolier is a British .303 Lee Enfield rifle used in World War 1 and 2. It was modified (obviously) to look more Star Warsy. Fun fact! Also, love that Mafex R2! Been thinking about getting the model kit, but not so sure anymore after seeing the Mafex...
"Has an old timey look to it" Thats because it is :P Its a mosin Nagant (or Enfield depending on the prop) bolt action rifle cut down with a cylinder on the end. You likely already know, but pretty much every blaster in the OT was made from repurposed WW2 weapons.
Nope, it still drapes down naturally. I just pulled it down since it's been a while and it has gapped slightly but you don't even notice it unless you go looking for it.
Ive been looking forward to getting this one for a while. I'm happy with how it turned out... I don't really need it to do much, at least in comparison to other figure articulations. Maybe you can do some custom weathering to additional Jawa figures to help make it stand out, and make it seem like you don't have a cookie cutter copy group of Jawas. In an unrelated note: A random thought popped in my head earlier today, how has Bandai not put out a nice sized, and well detailed Death Star model kit? I'm not sure why I never thought about it myself... I'd be down with that... hell, I'd be down for them putting out both Death Star 1, and Death Star 2.. despite their scale differences
The Fwoosh putting together the Y-wing and the Millennium Falcon kits, there were very thin pieces for piping throughout certain sections that were pretty damn frustrating haha. I can only imagine doing a kit for the Death Star V2... yikes lol
I think that''s where the Tusken Raider will shine; on having customization gaffi sticks and a rifle. I'm not sure if that's the 40th anniversary version or boxed. Still got Wave 1 & 2 + Early Bird on pre-order and nothing so far. Sucks to live in the UK. Lando's on his way though?
I got Lando last week but the rest of that wave should be dropping soon, can't wait for that. And yeah, the Tusken has a level of customization, it's awesome that the robes can come off and the weapon can be changed up. I'm definitely going to need a few of those.
He looks good. Like the rest of the 6" line, these are more just posable than playable. I am curious to see him against the model kit R5 as the scaling looks better with the Habro R5.
I curious about the height. On the card, the Jawas tend to be taller than R5. Yet we all know this figure is too small and so I can curious about the height of this Jawa up against the Bandai. Also a customizer made a Jawa in proportion to the model kit, and I honestly thought it looked too tall.
I lucked out, ran into tru the other day and found the stormtrooper, jawa, couple of death troopers, and threepio on the shelf. Put one of each on layaway. Left the Chewbacca and a death trooper for some lucky traveler.
this figure looks super cool and i've always wanted a jawa... but now that i have the chance to get it i am thinking, "do i really need a random jawa? where the heck would i even put it?" lol ill probably still get it
i received this wave yesterday, only thing is, i didnt order them lol, i actually ordered the Lando wave of regular line figures. so got to send them back. but its given me a dilemma as, even though i wasnt planning on getting the 40th anniversary figures, i actually like them, particularly this jawa and the death squad commander that we dont yet have in the regular line, just hoping they'll do them in the regular line at some point. the seller did offer me a 10% discount on the 40th anniversary figures to buy them as well as what i actually ordered but got a trip away soon so need the money.
I hear ya on money, gotta have priorities. It just that my usual priority is "gotta have more plastic!!" haha. I think it's been mentioned that the Jawa and DSC is getting a red box release, I think? Jawa is okay but the DSC is awesome.
Maybe I should put up videos what I do to the packaging of action figures. I keep cool boxes but all figures come out of the box and on put on display.
Do you think waaaay down the line they'll start making obscure repacks of these? Apparently there's a Tusken Raider character named "Urrorrorr", and honestly I wouldn't mind if they tweaked the current raider figure to give us more diverse aliens of the same species
You can always cut the plastic in the front. Just cut it flush with the card, so you don't rip the image off. I really don't care about the card, but if you do...
When i was young, I did care. I used to cut it flush with the card, so i could collect the card itself. It will have a little plastic left flush with it, but the image was untouched. Honestly, I would have preferred they came in boxes, rather than cards.
Haha, I loved the hulk smash the packaging! Nice figure, I've only got one on order - one for the collection/shelf. If you got a 2nd, you could cut down the legs of the 2nd one, assuming the skirt will cover the damage to reduce the height? Would need to rework the skirt too though? Pros and cons etc...? Utini!
I'd have much prefered soft goods on this release. It was a success for the Tusken raider. I would have liked more posability , whatever that means for a Jawa, or at least the option of more without cutting up the figure.
Why do I wanna army build this figure (I guess it wouldn't be called army building since it's a jawa but having 3 or 4 would be nice for my Jabba's 6 inch throne room display)
This figure is not bad at all I'm only picking up the New release figures s to, but I'm gonna do 1 inbox and 1 for display for the vintage card Awesome review.
Yeah, they got me, I'm also doing a carded set, but I gotta get all of them. The Stormtrooper looks especially nice on card. I can't believe I'm doing it though.
2:32 Personally I like unboxing figures or watching others do it. It's 2nd weirdest sensations I have in regards of action figures. 1st being smelling new figures....
NOTHING wrong with that, haha. I don't usually show the actual unboxing but with these, it's just so joyful and nostalgic, I gotta do it. Mostly so I can go back and rewatch it myself, a little to cringe the MOC crowd, haha.
I've recently ordered this in the UK and I'm sure it's going to be fan favourite, but after watching this review I'm a little disappointed. Seems like the all plastic hood and cape prevents any real movement... It would of been much better to pack it with a droid, or another Jawa counterpart like we get with the 3 3/4 inch line. Thanks again Hasbro.
Did you just CUT it open?! 😮 I kinda love the figure, it's going to look nice with an Artoo on display. Maybe Hasbro will release a Jawa with a cloth cape and then the plastic ones will be disgustingly expensive? 😉 (And then you slap yourself for cutting him😂)
Maybe you could just heat up the wire and make it settle down a bit more along the robe, instead of cutting it altogether? Other than that, just a quick C&C, but I think it would be better, in the part where the pictures are showing and you're talking about the figure, that the pictures match the specific part you're talking about (ie. showing the face while you're talking about the face), just so we can follow your points better. That bit annoyed me a little bit. Otherwise, nice review, big fan of your channel!
Oh, I know exactly what you're talking about with the pics lining up, duly noted. As I was editing I thought, and have been thinking, about a different way of doing that but I couldn't pin it down, you nailed it. Now I just have to remember to do it. I get into a groove and it just kind of flows, haha. Thanks man!
I used to be that way, out there hunting every other night, not wanting to pre-order or buy online. It was fun, it got me out of the house, grab a friend or two and make a trip out of it. But as time has went on, nope, rather not, haha. Don't get me wrong, I still get out there every other Saturday, hit some stores, meet up for breakfast at the cafeteria. Wait... When the hell did I get so old?
i have the original kenner hoth luke skywalker and imperial operator(it has a bucket on his head with black goggles please dont hate on me sw fans im a fan too!)
I could handle watching you tear open that gorgeous vintage packaging. But taking a box cutter to that brand new Jawa was definitely cringe worthy ! #DontKnifeYourJawa
This should absolutely have been a 2 pack. I have a hard time accepting the budget excuse...makes no sense to me. Like e ery other company and line of figures it's sculpt, paint and plastic. I stead of maybe once in a while giving g a bit extra for the money and loyalty, they opt to keep the extra pennies every time. It hard not to feel screwed sometimes.
I feel bad for the partents out there who just want to get some of these for their kids. I'm 31 and actively check the storea around me and can never find any of these. I found some at a comicbook store for $35 each which is so annoying... I bought the Han 😒 but only because the last time i saw one it was $45 Why cant they make enough to be accessible for everyone!!!!!
I think they try to keep things from getting too overstocked, that way new product can come in. Although most of my stores are sitting on the same stock as a few months ago. I did find a Han the other day at TRU, but that's only because I was there at the right time. I haven't seen one anywhere else.
My local stores are full of rouge one characters still. I have yet to spot a new face in months at say, walmart. Toys r us still has force awakens poes and Fins... Grrr
Realllllllllly........hmmm I must investigate. Unless you're just trying to get me to stand in my closet in the dark with a Jawa action figure. I've been tricked before...
The Fwoosh lol yeah it took me like 3 times & two photos to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me lol . Found out while lighting the them for a shoot .
The only complain I have is that they should've made this a two pack with a smaller Jawa.
i aree..this should have come with a smaller jawa for the price.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if it was a 3 pack, 1 Jawa like this, 1 short jawa and one fat jawa
Spends all that time gently cutting the packaging
rips the shit out of the box like the hulk 😂😂😂
Haha, those two pegs taped around the back are a pain when you go to rip it, much easier to slice them first!
I wouldn't say it's "thinking too much about it", at all. My take is that these are "inspired by" the originals, not intended to be identical. I love the throwback aspect of these!
I never realized Jawas had black cloth wrappings around their face!
I just thought it was supposed to look like their face was cast in shadow.
I'm glad they didn't go with soft goods. I know it holds back the articulation but it always just looks so much better. if only they could have saved Luke...
Should've been a 2-pack.
I agree with you about the soft goods on this figure. In 1977 Kenner made a running change and created the most memorable soft goods in action figure history. Now in 2018- Hasbro gives us traffic cones

Still, it does feel a bit pricey, but $40 for a 2 pack would have been just fine. After all, one does want a group of Jawas.
Exactly, I need different sizes and shapes.
Your gonna have to have more than one Jawa. You'll need an Army Of Jawas.
I may get a second but I really wanted different sizes.
Hmmm, you're right, that's brilliant!
Thanks man. I also was able to remove the hood, though it took some trouble as it's tabbed in and glued directly onto the head. It still stays on just fine however!
I always wanted a small (no pun intended) diorama of an Ewok, a Jawa, and an Ugnaught in a 3-way barfight! Is the articulation there for it?
damn, that intro made super happy because it looked like they finally gave Jawas some articulation bellow the waist but nope... that was just messing around.
So this is essentially the 3 3/4 fig blown up. No improvements at all. I also wanted to army build these, i would've customized them to make them look different but im probably just getting one at most. If i find it for cheap.
There are actually legs up in there, with a slice or two of the skirt they free up.
But i dont want to slice up the toy. Specially since that wasnt meant to be.
If i get one for cheap i guess i'll slice it up and see what can i do. If i achieve something cool i guess that would lead me to get some more.
This is why I preferred cloth over plastic. You can actually use the articulations. Awesome review ROBO. Keep it up!
Yeah, I would have went for a cloth robe over a tiny body here. Hmmmm...Thanks man!
Here is Australia these don't land until June/July. Might be better ordering online in the US to get them now.
Robo The cut in the robe actually looks good. To bad Hasbro didn't think of that. Great review man.
Yeah, and it's really not that noticeable when it's just standing there, even better. Thanks man!

Been thinking about getting the model kit, but not so sure anymore after seeing the Mafex...
I really wish the MAFEX R2 came by itself, it would be a hell of a deal. As is it comes with the first C-3PO and that's not a good thing, haha.
"Has an old timey look to it" Thats because it is :P
Its a mosin Nagant (or Enfield depending on the prop) bolt action rifle cut down with a cylinder on the end. You likely already know, but pretty much every blaster in the OT was made from repurposed WW2 weapons.
Heh, yeah, I'm not a gun guy by any stretch, the extent of my knowledge is whether something looks new or old.
Hey robo did the cut skirt affect the shape/look of the lower robe? Thinking of trying this myself.
Nope, it still drapes down naturally. I just pulled it down since it's been a while and it has gapped slightly but you don't even notice it unless you go looking for it.
Really like this one more than I expected! If you are looking for a use for it, give him a plastic palm leaf and stick him behind Jabba
THAT'S BRILLIANT! Why didn't I think of that...
the 3.75 one is just a Jawa child :D
I kinda want 2 or 3 Jawas and customize some a little. If they go on clearance I'll be tempted.
Haha, I can go with that.
Ive been looking forward to getting this one for a while. I'm happy with how it turned out... I don't really need it to do much, at least in comparison to other figure articulations. Yeah, if they can do a 1/2 scale BB-8, who is essentially a big globe with a half globe, surely they could do a Death Star?
The Fwoosh Death Star v2 could be rather challenging, with all the exposed sections and random beams of metal all over the place
But less plastic. Maybe. But eh? eh?
The Fwoosh putting together the Y-wing and the Millennium Falcon kits, there were very thin pieces for piping throughout certain sections that were pretty damn frustrating haha. I can only imagine doing a kit for the Death Star V2... yikes lol
Got mine today too, awesome figure

Always leave a tithe to the toy gods, it's only proper.
Indeed.
this figure looks super cool and i've always wanted a jawa... but now that i have the chance to get it i am thinking, "do i really need a random jawa? where the heck would i even put it?" lol ill probably still get it
Someone told me to give it a palm and have it fanning Jabba. That's just specific enough to work, haha!
If everybody has not hoarded this one, when I get to the sates on June 14th my search begins to find this one and one or two others.
UTINI!!
i received this wave yesterday, only thing is, i didnt order them lol, i actually ordered the Lando wave of regular line figures. so got to send them back. but its given me a dilemma as, even though i wasnt planning on getting the 40th anniversary figures, i actually like them, particularly this jawa and the death squad commander that we dont yet have in the regular line,

And right off the bat, he's perving on a Jawa. XD
if you want to keep the card in tact cut the bubble down the sides on the bottom and slide the figure down and out
Naw, on the openers I don't care too much about card condition. I want to hear that RIP!
+The Fwoosh The way you ripped open that package like it was xmas and cutting the robe was worth watching...2 thumbs up!
Cool review, and it would've been very nice if the lower half of the body had cloth goods, which I love if done right.
Yeah, make it a little ragged and it would have blended right in.
Hmmm, I'd go for that. There is also Sharad Hett, I'd love to have a figure of him too.
I commend your sacrifice of the Jawa cloak in the name of curiosity, sir
Sometimes you just gotta know, totally worth it.
Are they out in the east coast or did you order him
I ordered them from Dorkside Toys www.dorksidetoys.com
Shame the face isn't set back further it would be cool to have loads of these
You can always cut the plastic in the front. Just cut it flush with the card, so you don't rip the image off. I really don't care about the card, but if you do...
Oh, I don't, that's why I just rip it. I like the look of it all ripped and bare.
Utini!
Yeah, anything done to the legs would need to be done to the skirt, and then there is keeping the upper body in proportion too. Gah.
only Robo can give a 12 minute review on a Jawa
Haha, hey, I'm nothing if not rambley!
What's up Robo!
So how does he size up to a normal 3.75 inch figure? Say, a starwars or gijoe normal sized figure?
I don't have any 3.75 figures but this one measures 4.25 inches, if that helps.
perfect! that does help actually! thank you sir!
Hey Robo, I preordered this wave from Dorkside Toys nearly a month ago but i havent receieved them yet or even gotten a shipping notification
Their initial shipment was small, they're waiting for the next one to finish fulfilling orders.
I wish they did what funko did on the the pop for the eyes.
now did you get this for regular retail from them?
I paid $160 for a case, which is about $20 a piece. Good deal.
The Fwoosh yeah I saw that on the website provided but sold out...dang
I just love this figure.
Is the bandolier at all removable?
I'd have much prefered soft goods on this release. It was a success for the Tusken raider. I would have liked more posability , whatever that means for a Jawa, or at least the option of more without cutting up the figure.
Great review! He do look nice!
I didn't realize I needed this till your review, Robo. Thanks! :)
Haha, it's not my fault, it's not my fault!
Why do I wanna army build this figure (I guess it wouldn't be called army building since it's a jawa but having 3 or 4 would be nice for my Jabba's 6 inch throne room display)

+The Fwoosh lol definitely just bring s back does good day's.
Awesome review bro!!!
Can someone tell me if the tusken raider comes in the black box packaging or the card one like this jawa?
2:32 Personally I like unboxing figures or watching others do it. It's 2nd weirdest sensations I have in regards of action figures.
1st being smelling new figures....
NOTHING wrong with that, haha. I don't usually show the actual unboxing but with these, it's just so joyful and nostalgic, I gotta do it. Mostly so I can go back and rewatch it myself, a little to cringe the MOC crowd, haha.
Nice figure. Wish the Tusken Raider was 2 per case instead.
Same here, but I can kinda see why they didn't do that, with the Tusken also coming in the Lando wave at nearly the same time.
Buy the way do know when/about EE with that Lando wave up for pre order?
It should be any day now, I think.
Epic unboxing ahaha
I guess cardboard is good, but plastic is better ?
Definitely! Plastic>cardboard any day!
That robe-cut you hurt my eyes
(And then you slap yourself for cutting him😂)
Haha, I never regret anything! Although I might be a little annoyed, heh.
Maybe you could just heat up the wire and make it settle down a bit more along the robe, instead of cutting it altogether?

I get into a groove and it just kind of flows, haha. Thanks man!
No problem, man, glad I could help :)
fwoosh, get one of the 1999 potf 6 inch clothed jawas, i have 2 and they are modifiable :)
I want this so bad. My store's will probably get it 3 months after everyone else.
Venom_24 that's so true, my store still just has jyns and cassians
TheLastTrooper Exactly
Drew Pierce Jesus that is worse. That's how it is here with Marvel Legends.
Drew Pierce It does suck, I enjoy hunting for them. Buying online takes away a lot of the fun for me.
What are the chances that they will make a 40th anniversary Ewok?
I have to think there is a pretty good chance, but the 40th anniversary of ROTJ isn't for a few more years. I NEED one sooner than that.
50th anniversary Lol
I wish they would do a boba fett
Maybe in 2020 for empire anniversary
I think that's what has to happen, but thinking about it being 3 years away makes me sad.
utini!
i have the original kenner hoth luke skywalker and imperial operator(it has a bucket on his head with black goggles please dont hate on me sw fans im a fan too!)
3:00 lol
Sometimes you just gotta tear, haha.
I could handle watching you tear open that gorgeous vintage packaging. But taking a box cutter to that brand new Jawa was definitely cringe worthy ! #DontKnifeYourJawa
Haha, they can't make delicious articulation and then tie it down like it's not supposed to be used. That's plastic abuse!
Common Hasbro, gimme a Wickett! :P
YOU ARE DAMN RIGHT! And Chirpa, and Logray, and Teebo, and Paploo. Hell, I'll even take a Kneesaa. Yeah.
Ie gun was made. From the Brtish Enfield from world war two
That's awesome, thanks!
3:04 NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
YYYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!
I cannot find any star wars figures in stores
I'm just now seeing 40th wave 1, although it's moving pretty fast.
It hard not to feel screwed sometimes.
haha. Love you rip the card lol
That's the only way I know how, haha.
I can get this figure for around 35 (AUSTRALIA) DOLLARS
This whole wave shot up in price. I need a couple of more Jawas but not at what they're going for.
SHOW IT OFF JAWA!
Don't be so mean, Jawa!!
Yeah this needed some soft good. all that leg sculpt gone to waste.
I'd like to see someone strip it down, see what happens. Okay, I'd like to see someone make some robes first so we can do some kitbashing.
I feel bad for the partents out there who just want to get some of these for their kids. I'm 31 and actively check the storea around me and can never find any of these. I found some at a comicbook store for $35 each which is so annoying... I bought the Han 😒 but only because the last time i saw one it was $45
Why cant they make enough to be accessible for everyone!!!!!
PS i live in Austin i feel like a city like this should get more of these in stock than we do.
Grrr
So many black series so little money I have !
OH man, ain't that the truth.
I want this.... i know nothing of star wars or the character but i want it
You know I found out that the eyes glow in the dark .
Realllllllllly........hmmm I must investigate. Unless you're just trying to get me to stand in my closet in the dark with a Jawa action figure. I've been tricked before...
The Fwoosh hahah no , really they do glow . I'll tag you on my Instagram pic so you can see the pic..
You just made me try it out, and you're totally right! Damn, that's awesome!
The Fwoosh lol yeah it took me like 3 times & two photos to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me lol . Found out while lighting the them for a shoot .
Still not worth 20$$ they should have giving us a two pack n I agree with what you said about the figure . Keep up the great reviews
The, I meant the...
Heh, I know, all good.
