Why isn’t Jackson giving the same amount of love to the Kelly? Three of the most high profile shredders play them right now (Marty Friedman, Jeff Loomis and Brandon Ellis). 😞

      @metallicaspiker16 Год назад +1

@@ragingbill as a righty, I really feel for you guys. Seriously. You deserve more production models in general. I guess it’s because the majority of people in the world are right handed, so it isn’t financially feasible to make more left handed models without possibly incurring a massive dip in quality control. I guess the only real trade off would be that you guys generally get better quality instruments most of the time since you gotta go through the custom shops to get exactly what you want.

Good specs and all but made in China.....that sucks. Why not just go with Korea, Indonesia, or Mexico? The Jacksons/Charvels that come out of the Mexican factory are amazing. I'd much rather them be built there. Plus you would think that they would end up saving money by doing them in the Mexican factory because they wouldnt have to ship them by boat from China to the warehouse in the states

For Fender it might be "game changing" but honestly they have finally caught up with what everybody else is doing. Stainless steel frets especially. But made in China is a bit ehh, quite skeptical of that. Waiting for Charvel to finally put atleast SS in their non custom shop range and I might actually get excited for them again. Finger crossed

Looks like Jackson is just trying to keep up with ESP/LTD, but not really succeeding. I wish Jackson would bring back select series and go back to its old school style.

These are kind of boring honestly Jackson should put their pro series Juggernaut bridge, Fishmans, and reverse headstock on a pro series Kelly.

I'd rather take a chance on a Vola, its cheaper, and made in Japan. Also I could import a brand like Killer, or Schecter JP for less with similar specs and better finishes imo. Very disappointed in this launch.

The MJ RR24MG hasn’t been officially launched from Jackson yet, but some retailers posted them early. I first saw that one and the black version several months ago. Same thing about the Pro Plus series, I caught wind of the new line a couple months ago but finally saw pictures a few days ago. Also, the MDK’a are “Modern Dinky” so there’s quite a bit of extra contours, making it more a “modern” super strat guitar.

I was wondering the same. So there will be two rr24 : one in black with yellow pinstripes and gold hardware one in white, black pinstripes , gold hardware. Emg 81 , 85 and gotoh 1996 t tremolo. These bring back the old alexi/roope jackson vibes . Finally!

the only one that makes me want to take a look at them is the Pro Plus Dinky MDK EverTune 6 but at 1700k no thanks, I'll be looking for an old 750XL/Archtop Soloist and a second cheaper one for that kind of money.
Way too many floyd options :/

  • @dreammachine86

Some really nice specs on these, and cool finishes too. However I'd have to feel how they played first to see if they are worth the relatively high cost for Chinese made instruments. Really I suppose though it doesn't matter where something is OEM'd if the name brand is willing to pay enough for the quality and QC. I.e. with iPhones being made in China by Foxconn.
I got a Jackson a couple months back, a Chris Broderick signature 7 string. My first 7 string and also first guitar with a Floyd Rose. It looks cool as fuck, the pickups sound great and it has a number of features (kill switch/tone defeat/coil split etc.) but I don't find anything special about the way it plays. In fact my Schecter that is over £300 cheaper plays far nicer.
I got an Ibanez Prestige to replace it as I still wanted a 7 string with a trem but could not get on with the Floyd at all which left very little options, so the Ibby was one of the few stock 7 strings with a more traditional trem (a Gotoh). It's a jump up in price (although I got a ridiculous deal at ~£800 less than the typical selling price) but it feels like butter to play.
I'm really still a beginner so I can't say for certain what makes my Ibanez play as well as it does but everything I've heard would point towards the stainless steel frets being a major factor. So it's great to see Jackson bringing this to the crop of new models. Could make a huge difference in the way they play. They seem to be more inventive with the pickup configs too; some nice Seymour Duncan sets, some models with Bare Knuckles and even when they include the ubiquitous Fishmans you can have a model with the Classics. For some reason the mainstream brands don't seem to really incorporate the coil split option on the Fishman Moderns which is a shame as I do love the single coil sound. I have an affordable Cort KX507 that has the Fishman Moderns with both the voice change and coil splits. ESP/LTD are bad with this too, even on the expensive E-IIs you get one master voice change option and that's it. But whenever the Fishman Classics are used they do all seem to implement the single coil mode too.
The Dinky in the oxblood red finish really catches my eye, it looks stunning and has a great classic pickup config too. Also the sparkle finish Dinky looks amazing. Would love to see that sparkle in pink, or in a colour changing finish like ESP's Andromeda. Finally, the 26.5" scale 7 string looks pretty bad ass too.
Jackson could've updated some older models with the newer specs though. I love the Rainbow crackle finish Pro Series but there's no update with the stainless steel frets. Prices like I say seem kinda high for where they are built but at least they are not putting them up to ridiculous levels like ESP. Looking forward to hearing some demos soon!

The Jackson's are well behind the times.
Schecter has had stainless steel frets for 8 years with the same luminous inlay. Besides, their costs are lower and there is something for everyone. Jackson is trying to renew itself but so far some models look like Ibanez copies.
