That ping noise is common to floating tremelos, it’s the springs vibrating. Happens to any floating trem guitar. Great review, I’ve played Jackson guitars off and on over the past 20 years of playing and I seem to gravitate backwards them. They make a great product and a solid guitar.
I absolutely love this little videos. Theyre great to see how you do things, learn little tips and tricks along the way and get a good insight into your guitars. Just wanted to say I appreciate this series!
Jackson put a locking tuners on this guitar with Floyd rose. I think this is the second time I see that. I remember this only on esp m-II custom early 2000 production. But today nobody doing this.
Killer tune man! Dude your right hand is fukin on point! Precision! That solo was blistering!! And all the adjectives to describe your playing. Lord forgive me, for my sin is Envy!!
No issues with that! It was actually the high E giving me some trouble as it kept getting caught on the pickup during that dive you see me do in the solo of my initial performance video on this guitar!
The neck looks beautiful. I have a Jackson JS22 7 string and LTD EC 407. The Jackson is a much cheaper guitar but it plays and feels great. I still prefer ESP/LTD over most brands but Jackson when they get it right make exceptional guitars. I wouldn't mind buying one of these if I need another 6 string
Definitely considering one of these once they land in NZ, I love the seafoam green and the black ones. Never owned a guitar with a Floyd Rose though so this is super helpful to watch. Loved your playing in the demo too!
Great, great, Rob, just great - it looks like this guitar starts to take another level of creation out of you! It would be so great to see you jamming on this guitar with Jim on Dave Ellefson's Jackson bass - maybe you will create some material for Chimaira, and Mark and Matt would like it!
Thanks for putting out this video, gives us a really good look at the virtuoso. I picked one of these up, same color. I think it’s a good price for todays market and I love Jackson guitars so hopefully this one won’t dissapoint. Would have been nice to have the dimarzios in it like the mj dinky, not that theres anything wrong with a jb and 59, great pickups but I have that combo already, thats personal preference anyway and easily remedied. Anyway, great video, thanks. Can’t wait to get it and see what it’s like. Hopefully it’s as nice as the japanese ones.
Honestly, no stainless steel frets? Jackson is a legendary brand but I have to say that (in rock/metal style) LTD and Schecter are currently the best in terms of price-value ratio.
Thanks, Rob, always relaxing to watch this kind of vids from you while I (a grown-ass man) get a chance to drink a nice big cup of bulletproof!! Seriously I love all your vids as you tinker, er, a, teach..., Rob my Sensi!
Dunlop Formula 65 is what I've used for 20+ years! However, as soon as my current bottle runs out, I'm going to try out the polishes from Music Nomad. You can find a Sweetwater link in the description which will take you to the Music Nomad stuff if you're interested in taking a look. 🎸
Stringjoy just sent me an email this week about their sets w/ 3rd wound strings, you can custom order sets through them. But I've only bought their lighter acoustic strings, never tried their strings for any of my electric guitars.
I checked out my first set of StringJoys in this video ruclips.net/video/ktiF2rysCW0/видео.html and I absolutely loved them! Definitely the NICEST set of strings I have ever tried. Everything from the packaging, to the feel of the string material. They're just in another class. 🎸
Awesome! I know you'll love it! I'm a Floyd guy through and through, so that's always going to be my preference. But the Evertune is sweet too! I like having a couple guitars around with Evertunes. 🎸
hey Rob, great video but a small point of criticism. I think its important that you state when guitars have been sent to you for review, whether its sponsored or not. Fluff always has the great opening line that when something is sent to him, thoughts and opinions are still his own. I also noticed in Ola's video description that he says Jackson don't get to see or critique his video before release. If you genuinely purchased this then I apologise, I guess it could just be poor timing!
I'm honestly not sure why all of that matters. At least for my channel specifically, if it's not something I like, think is cool, back and recommend, then I simply won't make a video about it!
Oh man! I used to swear by the Dean Markley medium 11-52 that came with a wound .20 and a plain .18 before they switched to just the plain. I managed to find the exact same gauge with the wound 20 in a 7-string set. I like to think I'm getting a free .56 with every purchase! 🤣
Nice! What's the brand you found that pack in? Still Dean Markley? And yep, both Matt and I used the Dean Markley medium 11-52 set throughout our entire touring career. But then I switched over to DR when we reunited back in 2017.
@@RobArnoldWorld Yeah, man. Dean Markley. But I literally let out a "Holy shit!" when you busted out DR! I'm DM guy all the way but I've never looked anywhere else. Thank you for the video. I'm totally gonna get a DR set to try out.
Jacksons forever had a scarf joint for the tilt back headstock. I don't see that on this guitar. Did I miss it, or has the neck construction changed on this guitar? Thanks.
@@RobArnoldWorld It's a glue joint on guitar necks that makes the tilt back headstock stronger and less likely to snap off, like Gibsons do. If you search RUclips "Guitar Neck Scarf Joints - Pros & Cons" they have a nice visual at the 2:58 mark that probably help much more than my attempt at explaining does. Thanks for getting back about this.
Hey thanks for info and time stamp! I just checked the video out, and I have seen those before, but never thought to wonder what it was. Interesting! So then I went and took a look at the Virtuoso, and it does not appear to have a scarf joint. Perhaps the double reinforcement rods they're placing in the necks nowadays is an alternative method? @@PulverizerA
This color satin black is nice.. but it makes me worried too.. will greasy hands or sweaty palms eventually cause the body color to have a weird almost glossy shine to it after some time?
@@RobArnoldWorld sorry to bother u bud BUT I do Have an IMPORTANT QUESTION THOUGH I am dying and just trying to get something recorded to leave my friends and family behind. Since my friend couldn’t donate to my GoFundMe to help get me to the Mayo Clinic he’s letting me use his guitar center gear card. So I’d like to ask your opinion. I need something in the 1500 to 2K range that won’t give me any fret buzz and of course in that price range I’m expecting a graph tech nut and SS frets. Either a hard tail or ever tune.. locking tuners, etc. I don’t have a use for a Floyd rose. Problem is I have to order through guitar center because my friend who is letting me purchase only has a gear card so options on getting it shipped in a case are limited basically just to Ibanez who in my opinion haven’t really been keeping up lately. I’m gonna post three links of ones that I’m interested in and if you have any input or advice, maybe even on a PRS. I mean, I did look at the Mark Holcomb six string, but HEARD some pretty bad things about it not to mention it doesn’t have any of the features you would hope. I have the new Jackson pro signature series Roman baritone that jingers guitarist, came out with (green one) and it has all the features I like, especially when it comes to that wheel for relief, etc I mean.. I have a really good Luther. Touring artists use him and a lot of people drive from out of state just to use him. He’s great. Tuned in drop A# rn but it doesn’t matter what we do we just can’t seem to get rid of all the feet buzz. It’s been plekd etc the works. And since I have a song or two that I are in drop C I decided even though I’ve spent money to try and get this thing to sound right that I was going to return it and get a regular 25.5 scale guitar in the 1500 to 2K price range, have it tuned to drop C and just use a digital drop pedal to get it down to drop a# If I was just playing everything distorted, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I have verses that are clean so for recording purposes, that fret buzz is a no go. Plus with all the blood clots I have and what not some in my hands. A standard scale guitar is a little bit easier to play right now. These are the three I’m leaning towards. The Chapman is made in Korea I believe. Jackson, probably Indonesia And the Ibanez from like 2020 is Japan, but I heard that the case it comes in basically just rest the Head stock against the floor of the case and it has active pick ups but I’m just trying to figure out which one of these three or anything else you would recommend I could check out because guitarAthon is almost over at GC LINKS www.guitarcenter.com/Chapman/ML2-Pro-Electric-Guitar.gc?pdptypeAheadSearchInput=chapman&tNtt=Chapman%20&tAt=item&tAv=Chapman%20ML2%20Pro%20Electric%20Guitar www.guitarcenter.com/Jackson/Pro-Series-Dinky-DK-Modern-EverTune-6-Electric-Guitar-Silver-Sparkle-1500000399678.gc www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez/RG5121-RG-Prestige-Electric-Guitar-Dark-Tide-Blue-Flat-1500000254446.gc If there’s anything else you think would be dope or get the job done let me know!!!
1500 series floyd has stainless steel screws so they shouldn’t rust, or strip, well not as easy. The 1000 series is just the reg one with regular screws that can rust over time.
You dont polish nor apply any polishing product over a satin finish, it will wear off. Just clean it with a clean microfiber cloth and gently damp it with warm water if deeper clean is needed.
Jackson Dinky 600 bucks. This guitar same guitar period! 2 grand. Love the guitar, colors are wonderful. Especially the pink Yeah, USA what? Real Jackson aficionados will agree, it's the truth.
3:29 I have the exact same issue but only one of the laminate pieces is sticking out, the other one is perfectly smooth. Anyone else having this issue? Seems like they're not sanding them out enough before applying the finish, yet they still seem to pass qc
09:45 whenever i see someone stretching the string, i start to think i go too far. I wretch those puckers until they not longer go out of tune and i mean wretch, i have had guitar techs cringe watching me.
For that price it should be an original Floyd. also, those frets better be stainless steel. Not even on Jackson's site do they talk about the fret wire. great vid as usual!
How woukd you compare this to the newer LTD m-1000 in snow white? The LTD has fluence pickups and stainless steel frets they have the same floyd but i love that 5 piece roasted jackson neck. Im having a hard time choosing a new guitar for months now lol
It's a decent guitar, but for the money (≈ $2K), it should come with a much better case. I just bought the satin black version. The case is garbage. It does not grip the guitar at all. IMHO the Charvel Pro Mod ($999) with the Charvel hard shell case ($199) is still ≈ $750 cheaper than the Virtuoso. The Charvel has the better finish, the same pickups, and the FR is the 1000 series. This Jackson isn't $750 better. Most likely going to return it. Enjoyed the video.
I was disappointed with the case at first too, but I've really grown to like it. It's lightweight, durable, and easy to transport! But of course, to each their own!
I’ve never picked up an Indonesian made guitar that I liked so I have my doubts that they come close to this. The fret work is usually where they skimp on labor.
Guys!!! I completely take this all back. I literally went to a store other day and tried one. I couldn’t stop smiling. It is the best guitar I’ve ever played. Hands down. Incredible. I bought it and playing it this second. I own a MIJ, indo and Korean and this is better. Incredible build.
@@Ibanezguy2007 that’s good to know. I just bought one too lol. My MIJ is down and needed something to gig with it right away, can’t wait to play this one.
This is not my Jackson anymore. They used to build perfect guitars. Back when Dave and Marty played them. The real Made in USA models are long gobe. RIP Jackson
I hate to say this , I love Jackson Necks... Love them... BUT this guitar is just wayyyy overpriced.... Sorry .. I have a black JS22 (200$) speed neck. shark inlays, and swapped to Duncans... Unless you have to have the floyd rose its better imo... Note I also have the $3500 dollar Phil Collin Jackson,, I never pick it up (Its pretty to look at).. I just think its all in the "Neck" you like, Pickups, Set up, and Amp that your Hero uses... Then in your fingers... The rest is just hype imho. For the guys that dont have tons of money to spend on Rolexs you can still get the time.. THis is just not worth but about half of what they are asking. Love Jackson tho GOd bless them ~ "Locking Tuners when you have a locking nut?" do I have way too much common sense lol. Great man I sub'd because I like to see that people talk about when they get expensive stuff. You have alot, do you drive a Porsche? lol jk ~ I agree about the G string. I always when my partner uses them too ; ) Do you need 5 piece neck? I men you gotta be just into looking at them more than playing them... EVH didnt have 5 pieces neither does Jimmy Page or Slash.... THats art imo. Art is expensive! = ) THanks ( One more thing 5 way is in the wrong place imo... I re routed mine. Really if it werent for the shape of the neck on mine I wouldnt even own it.
Hey welcome aboard man! I can honestly say that when I first received this guitar (it was my FIRST Jackson), that I would have said it was overpriced too. But the more I played it, and the more time I spent with it, I was proven wrong. It's an extremely well made and comfortable guitar. All the parts are solid, and it's just NICE all around. Is it slightly over priced? Maybe, but I think it's a high quality instrument, and I believe that you get what you pay for. Btw- no Porsche's, just a couple Grand Cherokees! 😝🎸

Thanks for tuning in man! 🤘☕️
Really great video and look to be a very awesome axe :)
Thanks man!
Hey Rob, what guitar polish/cleaner do you recommend?
Dunlop Formula 65 is what I've used for 20+ years! However, as soon as my current bottle runs out, I'm going to try out the polishes from Music Nomad. You can find a Sweetwater link in the description which will take you to the Music Nomad stuff if you're interested in taking a look. 🎸
@@RobArnoldWorld thank you!
I’m surprised Jackson put locking tuners on an FR guitar. Nice feature, but seems unnecessary. Great looking and specs are on point though!
I appreciated them!
I was wondering the same thing? For the price of those tuners they could have made other improvements.
Thinking about getting my first Jackson! Debating between one with a Floyd or evertune. What’s your personally preference Rob?
Thinking about buying one. Thanks for the review. Any idea why they went with locking tuners?
Cool! I think you'll dig it! I don't know why they went with locking tuners, but I appreciated it!
Never tried a wound g string. I tend to expect not getting those bends to sing, but I might never know :)
Not sure they create any audible difference, but for me it's just more of a feel thing that I prefer.
@@RobArnoldWorld yeah I'm sure you are right.
Jacksons forever had a scarf joint for the tilt back headstock. I don't see that on this guitar. Did I miss it, or has the neck construction changed on this guitar?
Thanks.
I've never heard of a scarf joint. Please elaborate!
Dude, which spray and cloth did you use to clean the body?
Spray- Dunlop Forumla 65. Cloth- Unknown.
This color satin black is nice.. but it makes me worried too.. will greasy hands or sweaty palms eventually cause the body color to have a weird almost glossy shine to it after some time?
No! I don't think so. It's not a matte type finish, that suffers from the scenario you've described. Mine looks great all the time!
Do your ESP’s have compound radius? If this is your first time with one, you will never want to go back
You know man, I'm actually not sure! It's something I've never thought about.
Have u played the hard tail?
I play in drop C but I have no use for a whammy bar.
I have not!
I have the new Jackson pro signature series Roman baritone that jingers guitarist, came out with (green one) and it has all the features I like, especially when it comes to that wheel for relief, etc
I mean..
I have a really good Luther. Touring artists use him and a lot of people drive from out of state just to use him. He’s great. Tuned in drop A# rn but it doesn’t matter what we do we just can’t seem to get rid of all the feet buzz. It’s been plekd etc the works.
And since I have a song or two that I are in drop C I decided even though I’ve spent money to try and get this thing to sound right that I was going to return it and get a regular 25.5 scale guitar in the 1500 to 2K price range, have it tuned to drop C and just use a digital drop pedal to get it down to drop a#
If I was just playing everything distorted, it wouldn’t be an issue, but I have verses that are clean so for recording purposes, that fret buzz is a no go.
Plus with all the blood clots I have and what not some in my hands. A standard scale guitar is a little bit easier to play right now.
These are the three I’m leaning towards. The Chapman is made in Korea I believe.
Jackson, probably Indonesia
And the Ibanez from like 2020 is Japan, but I heard that the case it comes in basically just rest the Head stock against the floor of the case and it has active pick ups but I’m just trying to figure out which one of these three or anything else you would recommend I could check out because guitarAthon is almost over at GC

Dude, where do you get that tool bench case deal you always use? I want one!
From www.Ultracase.com
It's called a Tech Box!
Thank Rob! You're the man!
is it the new one ?
side note i bought a randy rhoads jackson it came with a new whammy bar. my g.f. threw it out thinking it was garbage lol
Yes it is! And shame on your gf!🤘🤣
It would have been better to remove 1 spring considering the claw was almost all the way screwed into the body, anyway great video!
I eventually will! Doing so in this video would have potentially added another 25-30 minutes to it!🤣
1500 series floyd has stainless steel screws so they shouldn’t rust, or strip, well not as easy. The 1000 series is just the reg one with regular screws that can rust over time.
Thanks for the info!
You dont polish nor apply any polishing product over a satin finish, it will wear off. Just clean it with a clean microfiber cloth and gently damp it with warm water if deeper clean is needed.
Good to know!
Bolt on necks are a little bit brighter. Itz not a prominent change, just a bit brighter
Jackson Dinky 600 bucks. This guitar same guitar period!
2 grand. Love the guitar, colors are wonderful. Especially the pink
Yeah, USA what?
Real Jackson aficionados will agree, it's the truth.
3:29 I have the exact same issue but only one of the laminate pieces is sticking out, the other one is perfectly smooth. Anyone else having this issue? Seems like they're not sanding them out enough before applying the finish, yet they still seem to pass qc
Intersting!
I was doing The nomad thing years ago, by stealing the wife's makeup brushes haha
🤘🤣
Hey Rob just letting you know I'm supposedly a winner of some contest. Probably scammers taking over your RUclips email here.
I have had a lot of bolt ons and I dont really notice a difference with sustain or anything
Yep!
I just don't understand why they can't make magnet back plates and electronics cover I know they do but bring it
Dude, that's honestly a fantastic idea!
@@RobArnoldWorld would they interfere with pickups?????
Hmm.. that's actually a great question! Perhaps so, and maybe that's why we don't see the magnetic back plates more?@@Razrback
09:45 whenever i see someone stretching the string, i start to think i go too far. I wretch those puckers until they not longer go out of tune and i mean wretch, i have had guitar techs cringe watching me.
I back it!
Nice RG550 Copy!!! 🤘🤘
Brooooo!!! don't use guitar polish on a satin finish. Just use a damp cloth or it's going to get very splotchy. :)
Can you just glue the neck with wood glue ,,, then put screws back in ,, then it called a set neck👹🎤🙏
🤘🤣
For that price it should be an original Floyd. also, those frets better be stainless steel. Not even on Jackson's site do they talk about the fret wire. great vid as usual!
Thanks man! Unfortunately though, I think you're going to be disappointed on both points!
@@RobArnoldWorld ugh
How woukd you compare this to the newer LTD m-1000 in snow white? The LTD has fluence pickups and stainless steel frets they have the same floyd but i love that 5 piece roasted jackson neck. Im having a hard time choosing a new guitar for months now lol
Ltd, much better specs for the money, Jackson/fender seem to be heavily overpriced for even the most basic specs.
It's an incredible instrument, just like the ltd deluxe series!
This guitar - is a PRO Series Jackson, double the cost and you have all been conned. Exactly the same - if not maybe worse spec.
Каймира просто топ! 2003 уничтожил нахуй индустрию! Парни, ебаните тур, альбом!
🤘🤘
