I work at a hydroelectric plant and we have had this exact setup since 2014. This is hands down the best. We demoed several. Unfortunately this cost of this mower is out of reach for the average person.
I don't know what it is but I could watch this video all day long. You do an amazing job on your videography and mowing.

When you review these new implements I wish you would show us more close ups of the unit at the beginning... you know... how it attaches, general construction, what the cutters look like, adjustments, etc. Rather than just 20-mins of watching you drive around mowing a field. After all, from the sky it pretty much mows just like any other mower.
Maybe you should trim up the tree canopy a bit.
The flail mower does a great job cutting through the tall grass and brush!

It just does a beautiful job. In my opinion the flail concept is the best one. Much nicer finish cut, even on really thick stuff like this.

I wasted decades and a lot of money trying to get riding mowers (never put one on a hill) and tractors to cut grass on my steep property. I finally got rid of everything and bought a Ventrac. Best thing I ever did. :)

It is satisfying and mesmerizing to watch it just eat all that heavy material!
WOW!!! Wished my brothers and I, would have had something like this back in the 60's and 70's to mow the fence lines with. We had to cut the weeds by hand with corn knives and hand scythes. This machine setup would have fit perfectly between the crops and fence line. Would have been nice to mow the roadsides with also.

💥 I’ve been waiting to see a front mount flail on your channel. Wish we had front mounts for compact tractors in the US. Very cool for Ventrac to offer this option.

John and Tim you are more than welcome to come down and try out our trailblazer brush cutter let's front mounted And powered by their hydraulic power pack in the back. I think trailblazer has the best brush cutter of this type and that's why we bought it for our Grand L 3560. I agree with you that there should be more front end attachment for compact tractors. Trailblazer would do great to add more front end attachments,, but they,'re having trouble even keeping up with their Front brush cutter production. We had to wait a long time just to get this unit.

I continue to be impressed with the Ventrac and how versatile it is. The flail mower is impressive and is quite a useful addition to the attachment lineup. Looks like another reason for Christy to adore Vinny. Blessings.
What a wonderful attachment. A front mounted flail mower works great for reaching under the the trees. Great for keeping them from taking over an acreage. I believe the taller grass with heads would be brome grass. Great cool season grass.
Having the mower deck out front to cut before driving over is a game changer. We used to cut alfalfa with a Hesston 310 self-propelled hay bone for the same reason. Unlike any tractor pulled mower, hay one, disc bone we drove over the hay much less with the business end of the machine out front!
Definitely the right tool for that job. Nice 👍
If you have large amount of property you can't go wrong with a Vent Track. I love mine, it's a great investment for me.

I can see the satisfaction in that type of mowing. Scags made a tricycle type mower with the steering under the operator. It was a miniature bush hog with the 62 inch cut in front. The main problem I found is that when ground was wet, it easily would hang up in some mud. Love the Ventrac!!!
I used one back in the 90's. I always thought it was a tough mower. Big problem we had was it had cables for steering the back wheel if they got lose it was hard to turn.
@@erichedges2948 I was always working on the mower because it had many hours on it before I started working there. We bought several steering cables from the local Scags dealer. I replaced the deck cable yearly. Keeping the right balance was always the key when mowing in damp or wet conditions. The satisfaction of mowing the over grown grass was worth it to me.

That's just what I need for my yard. I have not mowed my back yard yet this year.
A few years ago back when the county dug ditches on both sides of the road I live on. I emailed Ventrac and asked if they had a demo machine I could use to mow my ditches; they never replied back.
What a mower...i loved watching it take down brush. I have a 1000 ft or so of heavy brush to mow if you are in Texas. Right along a creek bank and feeder stream. Untouched for 30 years,.

Thanks for sharing. Ventrac seems to still be old school production. Build to last. Matt @ Diesel Creek just bought a 4500 with a front mount rotary brush cutter.He cut some 3"whips. Seemed to work real easy. What you're mowing is asking a lot of that machine! I would prefer that machine over the tractor pulling Your 10' brush hog. Do the trimming with the Ventrac and 10' brush hog the main open fields 3 or 4 times a year.

That flail does much better at chopping up the tall grass than a traditional blade mower.

It really is amazing. Being out-front, no tire tracks to mash down the uncut material. Then, the chopping action creates a fine mulch.
You and the stoney ridge farmer gave me an idea of the ventrac tractor February a couple of months ago I bought a 4500p with kubota b series engine 30 hp

After watching the flail mower in action I am truly questioning buying a brush hog over a flail mower. The vent track is very nice that’s for sure but I don’t limited budget. You can only have so much equipment. It certainly is easy enough to see the appeal of that machine.
I do not own one of those but the more you guys use it makes me want one. Lol... that flail is amazing!!! I like idea of not having to back or look back all the time hurts my neck and back a day of that and I'm done. Good stuff guys. Hope your staying cool super hot Southern Indiana

I am not an engineer, but this seems to be a complex machine: engine to power the tractor, motor to power the flail, 4WD, steering system for a pivoting frame, mechanics and hydraulics to move the flail up and down, electronics. If not very well designed and built, it would stay in the shop most of the time. Impressive.

Stick with the first statement. You are not an engineer. Ventrac has been around for years. Wonderful product. Reliability is high.

I found if you cut 3/4 of the width then you don't worry where the edge is and won't leave a stripe in the center somewhere of grass standing. It is also easier on the load on any mower.

The Kubota Grand L series has a mid mount pto that has snow blower and a flail mower attachments and I have been thinking about getting one for mine. This video makes me think ever harder about it haha.

Thats sure a lot easier than using a Brush Hog in the rear, and reversing as I need to for similar applications.

JD, Kubota, Grasshopper make machines similar to this [ front mounted designed machines] but I believe they are pto driven. Also starting costs around 15,000 and up and up. Great video plus the ventrac has so many other uses attachments.

That flail mower is very impressive. I’d say the cut quality is twice that of a brush hog, not to mention the ease of use. The boom-mounted flail mower would be the implement to trim the edges of that area.
I used the Ventrac with flail last weekend and the stripes that thing lays down is on another level and my grass was slightly overgrown so I wasnt expecting it to stripe but I was way wrong
How high do you cut with the flail?
@@TractorTimewithTim in my yard I go 1.5 inches and in my large field it sits at approximately 3 inches
I see you are running without dual wheels. Didn’t Ventrac send you caps for the wheel axles. Don’t want to get those threads damaged or clogged with debris. I see you got the top as you mentioned it got under trees without problem. Will consider getting the top after seeing this. Texas is really hot this year. 100 degrees is frequent.

I wish the Ventrac and its implements were more affordable, because they sure do look like a very useful and compact tractor.
As I mentioned in the video, when compared to other machines which could accomplish the task as well, Ventrac is actually quite cost effective. Talked with a guy yesterday who mentioned that his Ventrac makes him more money than any other piece of equipment he owns.
@@TractorTimewithTim - If I was using a tractor for a variety of gainful pursuits, that would be a strong consideration. I really don't need a tractor for very much but enjoy using them.
P.S. no you don't need a track loader. They do got skid steers that got them things. And I've seen them hook up to the front end loader on a John Deere tractor I don't know what the new ones are but let's say like a 40/20. About that size. So yeah you need to do a little more checking out this stuff.

I've actually mowed grass about that tall and thick with a mower and its terrible. Demoing a flail on monday!
When I went to my nearest (75 miles) Ventrac dealer, and asked to see the Ventrac, he said they did not keep one on hand. He said that if I wanted to see one, I could order one (prepaid), and see it when it came in. I asked "what if I don't like it then?". He told me it would be mine, and I could list it on Craigs List. I bought a JD 1025R - JD had one I could see.

If I had a 4520 with a tough cut, I would leave the land plane on the tractor 100% of the time and moth ball the 6 foot rhino bush hog.
Is there a stump grinder that would work on the new Vinny? Driving in instead of backing in would make that so much easier. Blessings

Belt…like all Ventrac attachments.
This implements was used on 2 wheels tractor in Italy from 1980 on Goldoni, Nibbi, Valpadana all use Lombardini motors (now bought by Kohler compamy)
I just ordered and payed $9,500 for a Peruzzo collection flail mower from Iowa Farm Equipment. The flail mower cuts 60'' wide and collects the clippings that can be dumped in a wagon or just dumped in the garden. I'm a veg grower in Indiana and will add the clips prior to tilling the gardens and high tunnel to add organic matter to my soils. I also add the clips between my beds covered covered in black plastic to prevent weeds and conserve moisture. I've been using a D R leaf vac behind my Cub Cadet lawn mower to collect clips for my crops but it's slow and hard to dump the clips. Now I'll be able to stay in the the tractor seat and use the hydraulics on my 1250 Massey. The machine is "supposed" to be here in the states in Sept. When I get the machine I'll post a video on my channel.

When ya go back to mow the field area, I'd like to see the 3046r with the ts10 behind. Every time I watch a video with a Ventrax I wonder did I make the right choice getting my 3046r or should I'd gone with a Vinny. For my property I'd say it's 60/40 in favor of the tractor.

I forgot what model specifically it is but kubota makes a grand L model that you can use a front flail mower on that is pto drive just like a front snow blower attachment. The non front loader type mount sub-frame style.
Altoz Track would be closest option today. This does seem better in more situations, as it’s out in front. Made in 🇺🇸 is nice too
