I've used a working sub as a passive radiator, worked fine, so I'd only suggest removing the magnet if the speaker is blown. I'd like to see how shorting the + and - whilst using a speaker as a radiator works also, in theory it'd damp its movement.
Just something to play with. Years ago I used a working speaker as a passive radiator. A moving cone generates electricity, so I put a 20 ohm wire wound pot on the speaker. I could change the cabinet damping just by varying the pot.
You could use good speakers as passive radiators by leaving the magnet on. With the cone movement the coil produces voltage at the speaker terminals. If you shorten the terminals of the radiator speaker you have your "weight" of the cone because it will resist to movement. In theory you should be able to tune this kind of passive radiator by connecting a resistor between the terminals of the speaker used as radiator and by this changing the movement resistance to air pressure. It is like changing the weight of the cone...in theory of course ;-)
bunsoft2 it sounds as if it should be able to generate some electricity, but may need a lot of movement. That’s something that sounds like it may be testable 🤔
The resistor on the terminals is more like stuffing the port. It reduces the efficiency, but might produce a "tighter" sounding bass. Tuning it still needs to be done using weight (I'm wondering about inductors or capacitors between the terminals too). I'm also curious about dual voice coil subwoofers with one coil shorted to itself (or with a resistor) and the other connected to the amplifier. In theory it would make the amplifier need to work harder, but damp the cone so bass is very tight again. In an infinite baffle, it would work like an aperiodic membrane.
Might be cool to connect two speakers in parallel, in theory if you talk in one it should act as a crude microphone and the sound should come out of the other one. I know for sure the other speaker will move if you tap on it... Might be fun to be in a different room than the cats and see if they can hear you through it. Apologies for my English. Keep the good stuff coming!
Hi, i have a logitech sub (z523 or something) that i wanted to make a speaker with, in a wine barrel. The barrel is 7L, but the old enclosure for the sub was 8,5L with a 6" radiator. Will it work well in the barrel?
Try using a speaker with the magnet still on as a passive radiator and compare them to without. I'd guess they'd be less loud but maybe tighter. Keep up the good work amigo.
Can u show a completed passive radiator?
“Then stick it up your b...bleep!” I love the random censored outbursts they kill me every time 😂
(Edit) Also happy new year
Kaden Pealer it was gonna say butt not the other word just fyi.
FinnishArmy lol didn’t even notice that I could have swore it said a and then cut out 😂 just as funny still but I’ll fix it nonetheless
😂😂😂😂

bunsoft2 hmm, if thats true, then it may be able to power led lights for sub boxes🤔. Ill check if your theory works later
@@arrepuess it is a theory. Unfortunately i do not have the time to build a box and test it.

You just need to fill in the hole with a calibrated lump of blu tac.
Very nice 👍 thank you so much
Happy new yeah maaan!!!! Love your videoss!!!
How would it affect the radiator if you left the magnet on ?
It could bottom out and do some bad noises, and even lock it from bending the coil
I wish that you had a happy New Year, My Stoner Mind.
What's the outro song? Seems really cool
If any FBI people wondering what the noise was in the intro it's uhh *_someone drinking orange juice_*
Uh no he was slurping some hot soup

your intro is so cute
Congrats for 50k! You well earned it!
Can I have a passive radiator like that
It has part two pra smoked It away? Or i am to high tô think that Works
Can you fix the speakers? Or is it impossible.
MyStonerMind: Basically
Me:BASSically
When the intro comed i cant stop lafing
Just an idea but you could put both of them on your home cinema subwoofer because it is a sub so more bass aint bad

Happy new year! Also, slightly disturbing intro!
You could give it more excursion if you put weights on the backside of a cone

Nice Davinci. My bro has one. Hes loaded. I use a 10 dollar glass pipe.
I have liked this video.
Hi happy new year live 2019 my stoner mind
Test the xmax excursion of the passuve radiator
Don't you hate it when your solder iron malfunctions.
Did it with a logitech z5500 woofer haha (blown) have a z5500 sub with a passive radiator tuned at 24hz
The channels name is funny bc im high af rn lol
Oh my that intro was disturbing
Nice I'm making one because my speaker got blown
Happy new Year 2019
Uk is in a state of sadness
Do this if you r rich
Middle-class people should buy a passive radiater
Don't need to be rich, this can be done with a blown speaker.
@@MyStonerMind420 👍😂😂
