Nuno is without question, one of the greatest guitarists to ever draw a breath! The man is absolutely ridiculous!!! It's really cool to see him be less than flawless for a change! lol
Nuno is a beast! And this video of him relearning probably the most beautiful piece Randy ever wrote proves his prowess of the fretboard. This is an intricate piece with quick chord changes and slides with exceptional stretching required, so to be able to get this close without having played it in ages is remarkable. Nuno developed his own sound and style and will remain one of the most talented and influential metal guitarists of all time.
I think that was just a quick stab at it from the top of his head! I think its safe to say he'd nail it if he wanted to, but whats nice about this video is his enjoyment of playing the piece, and I think thats what Randy would have loved! and by the way, the best way to play this piece is with Your heart ;)
I started playing guitar in the late 70s. This has always been one of my favorite little things to play. Does my heart good to hear Nuno appreciate it as well. Great little number. Randy was truly a gift to rock music, imo. Well, so was Nuno actually.
It only took me 5 minutes to learn this song like 7 years ago lol it's actually really simple to learn and master over time. But I always catch myself playing it time and time ago cause it's so melodic and fun to play lol
Nuno was put on the spot here. Dee is either perfect or not. This was not perfect. Nuno was put on the spot here, simple. One of the best, showing he isn't perfect. A human being.
I don't get why some people bashing him? It's obvious he was goofing on the song off the top of his head. Probably hasn't played the song in 20 years and was seeing if he remembered it. Lighten up a bit...
...i liked how he was smiling and remembering the notes as he played them ...like his hands took over and just did what they were taught to do ,,i don't think his brain was playing the song thumbs up for Nuno having fun lol
Nuno is a BEAST and does it all. My personal favorites of his are Last Hour off of Saudades De Rock and Lil Jack Horny from Pornograffitti. Randy is really, really good but Nuno holds his own against anyone.
The only fools who can mock this in any way let alone put it down, are people whove never picked up a guitar or who have and gave up or failed miserably at it. ANY real guitarist would just smile at this as it is simply honoring one of nunos favorite guitarists ..period. Why do people these days HAVE to pick just about every friggn thing apart to find something negative to say? What an F'd up society we're living in.
I like Nuno better than both Eddie or Randy. Nuno is funky as hell too. The fact that the piece wasn't perfect proves the ego was in check. Whether Van Halen, Rhoads, Malmsteen, Vai, Satch, Lifeson, etc. The debate continues. It's all about who touches your soul. There is no" he's better." The eighties was a pivotal period for guitar players. Some of it was crap, but a lot of it was mind-blowing.
True talent playing it through a guitar that was meant for beginner players back in 60s and didn't see him complain about he didn't have his 10,000 $ Taylor to play it !
@bandpassmess, Yeah no doubt, my pop's brought me 1 of those Silvertone's for my b-day out of a Sear's catalog. Nuno might not have played "Dee" note for note on that guitar, but he had the sound tone dialed in. I never heard a Silvertone guitar sound that good!
actually its not a hard song, ive been playing guitar for 2 years and i can play that with no problem, what happens here is that nuno is playing and trying to remember how to play the song at the same time, its not like he knows it
I was hoping he might click a distortion box and go into Suicide Solution! (Anyone with that album undoubtedly remembers the adrenaline boost that followed Dee with that riff!)
You may have heard that immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I think Nuno was just playing something and laughing at the end because he didn't play it perfect. Both are among the greatest guitar players.
Lots of people are criticizing Nuno because he didn't get it down exactly and even struggled in a couple of parts. Fact is, when you get to the talent level of Nuno and put out your own music you spend very little time if any playing covers. Alot of professional musicians don't even have a clue and never played covers. Nikki Sixx comes to mind. Be careful when critiquing a pro's playing because much of the time they aren't sitting around like us trying to learn & play other people's stuff.
@edla2005 ...hahahahaha thats so true of Nikki Sixx, he is a simple fool!! I love your quote "A lot of professional musicians don`t even have a clue and never play covers. Nikki Sixx comes to mind" Nikki Sixx was a chancer that got lucky!! Good call fella!!
@sunnyjim98 I used to own that same model of Silvertone in the early 90s... cost me $50 in a thrift store. It had the tube amp case and everything. I sold it for what I paid for it for some reason... sunnyjim, you are silly if you put down this guitar. It sells for about $1000 now, and it was the Sears model of the Danelectro. That's the guitar that Jimmy Page played White Summer/Black Mountain Side and Kashmir on if you didn't know.
None of the people here get it!!! Nuno plays a $49,- Silvertone, Randy Rhoads first guitar was a Silvertone! Nobody sees that. Dee was an improvisation Randy made as a tribute to his mother, who taught him classical guitar and piano since the age of 6. Nuno was just playing from memory - nothing serious. I bet he could play it perfectly any day of the week. About the difficulty of the song. Most metal players (riff rock, fast solo's) often lack the understanding of complex chord shapings and subtilty in classical music. To someone who's been playing classical guitar this is not hard to play. It was never meant to be (no show off piece) It's the way Randy played. Randy actually had a lot of admiration for Eddie Van Halen and most guys were pretty scared when he came on the scene. Kinda like Clapton was when Jimi Hendrix arrived. Please stop bashing each other or superb guitarists! Many people like the song and it still causes a spark. If you liked it that much, try to learn to play it and if you can't get it - grab a lesson! Randy would often grab a lesson on the places he toured with Riot and Ozzy (often ended up with him giving the lesson haha) but moral of the story is don't limit yourself on 1 style and broaden your horizon. Even Randy kept taking lessons and Nuno is one of the most versatile players in the world!! R.I.P. Randy Rhoads, Delores Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen!
@Burkefolk - as far as classical pieces are concerned, this is as simple as it gets sorry dude. It's a beautiful piece and deserves respect, but it's incredibly easy to play. The only reason this guy doesnt nail it, is he's either making it up as he go's along, or has not played it for decades.
@Hardysamnin: You also have to understand this is his interpretation of that piece. He plays by ear. He's completely self taught and he can't read music. And no two guitarists are going to play any piece exactly the same way. So he doesn't "nail" it because he's most likely not trying to play it exactly as Randy did. That would be like criticizing some other guitarist for not playing "Midnight Express" or "Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee" exactly like Nuno. They can't. They're not Nuno.
Hi Sean, Well yeah I agree with you in that they are both great, the think is that I don't like Nuno's attitude, I remember back in 1991 when I went to see Winger and Extreme in concert and Nuno just jelled at the public telling everybody to "Fuck off" not even the band got well along with him, that is why the band finally came to an end.
Wow! There are sooo many douchebags out there...If u remember correctly, Randy didn't make it through this piece either, and it was his own... Consider that Nuno is playing a $49 Silvertone, and is just having fun... RR was obviously an influence of Nuno's, and Nuno has all the respect in the world, for him. But has far surpassed his level of accomplishment. Randy did some incredible stuff, but never reached the level of "God-ness", that he's been given.
as much as I respect the late Randy I doubt he wouldve done any better playing some of Nunos uber technical tracks...Nunos gifted...he sings...plays acoustic/12 string...his lead solos are tours de force...much respect to BOTH
He's got that look on his face like, I haven't played this since I was 13, but let me see if I still know it.
At least he doesn't mind showing us that he's human and I respect that
Nuno is without question, one of the greatest guitarists to ever draw a breath! The man is absolutely ridiculous!!! It's really cool to see him be less than flawless for a change! lol

It's not that hard. I learnt it and I suck.
@@Fireglo then you don't suck if you can play it as well as the original

Looks like a child in a sweet shop. Enjoy Nuno
Nicely said...music ain't about who's best, but about who you can groove to...thank God we have all of these great musicians to listen to and enjoy.
100%

You respect your senior Nuno. You're amazing nuno!!
he seems so happy to be playing it
Nuno is a fantastic guitarist,to see him try Randys tune says alot about Rhoads playing.
He's just trying to remember the song as he plays. It's not like he wouldn't be able to play it if he wanted.
Obviously, is what I inmediately thought.
So relaxing to hear. Very nice music 🙂 An expressive face and a sweet smile. 😊Well done, Nuno!
What a relief to see that even a guitar master can have a hard time with a song like this.
+miauwington He plays the notes more precisely than any tab I've seen btw
He was just remembering the song
Just goes to show exactly how hard this song actually is to plAy. Not a bad version! Don't like it played on anything but acoustic though.
@@randywissler9923 it's not a very hard song to play. I'm not a great guitarist by any stretch and I got it down pat in about two weeks.
He was goofing
I love everything he does!)
Glad to see I'm not the only one who can't play that progression at 0:56 as fast and as smooth as Randy.
I started playing guitar in the late 70s. This has always been one of my favorite little things to play. Does my heart good to hear Nuno appreciate it as well. Great little number. Randy was truly a gift to rock music, imo. Well, so was Nuno actually.
That guitar has a pretty good tone
i love hot nuno is smiling as he plays this
I think that maybe the 90% who posted here don't know who Nuno really is. Nice cover btw, such a hard song.
hes one of the best in the world where's your fucking audience idiot
you're hear for a reason whining about how "good" he is suck it up loser

Some people hasnt reached this level of comprehension, congrats!
Exactly. That's the reason it plays it like shit. I could (and he could) play it better if I practice it some minutes.
wow my second favorite guitarist playing my favorite guitarists work
...i liked how he was smiling and remembering the notes as he played them ...like his hands took over and just did what they were taught to do ,,i don't think his brain was playing the song thumbs up for Nuno having fun lol

I think Dee is a beautiful piece... It's an inspiration to get into the classical guitar studies...

Yes sir! Nuno rips it up! Go heels!
nice!
Amazing how he can make this guitar sound so good. It's all oin the fingers. I wonder whjat amp he was using here.
A Sivertone. It was sold at Sears years ago.

he's obviously not learnt it that well, he's one of the greatest guitar players to pick up a 6 string, the man is a genius!
What is interesting is where he is playing the parts on the fretboard are different than usual.
What's he going to try next? Plaiting sawdust or walking on water? Randy is just so much fucking higher than anybody else, there really aren't words.
Not bad.. Nuno shreds !!
