Right now, in 2023, June 19, 2023 to be exact, Nuno Bettencourt is saving rock and roll, along with Extreme, from a slow boiling death. He is one of the most melodic, musical guitarists to ever grace a guitar. This only reconfirms that.
My son kills it on guitar, and he says he is the one...He says Nuno Bettencourt paves the way for inspiration for new guitarists, so you are absolutely right!
Wisely spoken... I'm always surprised by how some of the greatest songs in rock history are presented live. Then I watch a live video from extreme and my hope comes back
Blown away by seeing Extreme this summer. Not just another😊 80s act, but simply a legit band. Friends who are not fans had the same sentiment. Catch this group every time you can.
I think the reason some believe NUNO is overlooked is because of his personality. He is very low key when he doesn’t have a guitar strapped on. No doubt he could easily draw attention to himself in other ways. But he is a true guitar hero. Since Extreme first came on the scene until now he has never tried to do anything other than master his instrument. He is my all time favorite. What stands out for me; is that he is NEVER overlooked by his peers. Every guitar player there is, professional or otherwise, all tip their hat to this man. I do not believe ANYONE alive or dead would want to cut heads or trade chops with him. I’ve never seen a negative word written or heard anything negative said about him. Normal people may not know who he is but to those of us who play, he is a household name. Whenever a young guitarist gets a big head and starts thinking they are the greatest ever: they should watch NUNO. They will realize just how far they have to go. Lol
haha so true, specially the last sentence you said is so true. I think as someone who plays guitar knows the true value of nuno because we recognise the nuances of guitar playing skills
terry miller there’s some truth to that, though Extreme were extremely popular...not hurt by More Than Words and Nuno being extremely goodlooking I remember seeing Extreme open for Bryan Adams around the time that Everything I Do was THE hit There were a lot of teenage girls and their moms expecting teen pop and sensitive ballads from Extreme, and were very shocked by the highly sexual funk metal they played!😂
Nuno killing it once again! Fantastic performance. Such a great guitar player/ writer and song crafter. I hole- heartedly love the fact that they are still going I always thought their success was side tracked by the VH 3 album
Back in 1990, I was listening to the radio and they played Decadence Dance. When the song was over, the DJ said something along the lines of Keep your eye on this guy Nuno Bettencourt, he's really something to be reckoned with. Well, I've been keeping my eye on him for about 30 years now, and it's been worth every look. One of the single greatest guitar talents of all time, not just the Guitar Gods of the 80s and 90s.
+Maxime Boivin I stand corrected. It's listed as an electric acoustic on one of the Washburn forums. Looks similar to a Taylor T5 now that I had a closer look at Nuno's guitar. Nice to see Nuno finally getting some well deserved recognition.
I got the chance to finally see Extreme live past year and honesly it was probably one of the best concert I ever seen. Nuno is in a crazy guitaristic spot and at the top of his musicianship. What-a-show. If they pass through your city go and see them, you won't regret it.
How wonderful to see someone who found his place in the world and is happy to share his joy with the rest of us... It's a celebration.... Thanks Nuno...
You hear all the guitar legends being mentioned. But for some reason, Nuno always gets lost in the mix. He is a much better guitar player than most of the so called legends. Nuno is truly amazing.
Jerrad you are so right. I had the opportunity to meet him during the Pornografitti tour. He was an ass. But he can still play the hell out of the guitar.
Samsuri, he is just really cocky. He has a big ego and thinks he's better than everyone. At leas that's how he acted when I met him. But that was a long time ago. He may have changed by now. But I doubt it. It still doesn't change the fact that he ca really play. He's self taught. Which may lead to his arrogance.
Heard this masterpiece live at a radio station in Paris back in 1994 and have never forgotten about it. I was in shock. Nuno is an alien, he is 'hors catégorie'.
Wow, the way he masters that guitar neck is incredible. What nimble fingers and great rhythm. Ever since I heard "more than words", I wanted to play guitar like that, but seeing him here is amazing!!😍
This is gold to the ear of anyone that appreciates guitar as an instrument. Like someone else said, this guy has one of the most solid right hands playing guitar
Nuno's right hand is such a fine-tuned machine, sense of rhythm is on par with the greatest drummers. The syncopation is what gives him the edge over other guys that also have amazing right hands, like Morse and Petrucci. Even Al DiMeola would probably like playing this, even if it it's not as sophisticated harmonically as what he does. Great stuff.
@@Fartsnack Not even close. It's not about speed, accuracy or power...Nuno has a sense of groove and natural rhythmic proficiency that is out of this world. And I love JP too (for whatever it's worth he's more 'schooled'), but on this, there's simply no comparison.
Check out John Mayer on acoustic - Neon, for example. Not saying anyone is better than anyone else. That conversation is meaningless. But if you love acoustic guitar played with brilliance, that's the point. And yes, Tommy Emmanuel.
Absolutely sensational. Nuno is the best guitarist on the planet - incredible ability and passion. Real heart and soul - that’s what sets him apart from other maestros.
I am so glad I fell upon this. Never had a clue who he was. I just watched "More than Words" and said to myself "Who is this guy?" Scrolled down and found this gem. So glad I did.
Nuno has always been a great guitarist I bought Extreme album as a kid and was pleasantly impressed and surprised, I think maybe because it’s not thrash and hardcore metal like the Big4 , either way he’s a monster on guitar and no one in there right mind can deny that!!!

Nuno did one of the best ballads ever that even some experienced guitarist can’t do... “more than words” for those who missed it. He loves his acoustic!

Not only one of the best but one of the cleanest pickers out there. He virtually sounds like the album on almost every live take.

Not every electric guitarist can transfer their prowess over to an acoustic. Nuno, you do so in spades. Brilliant!

Maxime Boivin it was written and originally done on a 12 string acoustic. I saw him perform it live at Hampton Beach well before it was ever released.
Ultimate Basses I can
@@CADesignStudio This song on a 12-string would be a bitch!

And left xD
His left hand is freaking amazing
Nah, thats Al Di Meola.
He has the right hand of the gods

One of Nuno's unappreciated ballads. Intricate melody changes. Truly brilliant!
Grande NUNO, sem dúvida um dos melhores de sempre. Previlégio de te ter visto em Portugal.
Qual a marca do violao dele? Modelo/série.. vc sabe?
Thanks for sharing this amazingly talented man playing unbelievably well! Luv ya Nuno!

Very good indeed, however labeling it the "best ever" is for multiple reasons quite a farce.
Al Di Meola ? John Mac Laughlin ? John Butler ? etc... etc...

Nuno is clearly one of the underrated guitar idols for sure ! Love this Iberian Portugese / Spaniard Flamenco !!!!
Definitely not flamenco. not even a single flamenco technique here
Never EVER refer to an Azorean as "Spaniard"!
