  • In this video I milled some custom PCB's to upgrade my camera slider! I needed to make a circuit board that was compatible with a TMC2209 Stepper motor driver, so what better way than to mill one myself!

Just milled a double sided PCB on Snapmaker and it work. Not an easy task, but feasable.

Thank you for your help, which saved me a lot of detours. It took me two days to install flatcam 8.994 on Mac OS 12.5.1

Excellent video, thank you! You explained ALL the steps involved very well.
I’ve just purchased a Snapmaker because of continual problems with my el-cheapo no-name Chinese mini router kit. I’m impressed with the quality of the board you made, and I’m looking forward to seeing the results I get from the Snapmaker. 👍🏻

Thank you for sharing the video!
I would also be interested in whether you can cut the circuit board traces with the laser 🤔. I've seen laser PCB prototype machines in the professional field. (The drilling of the holes and the contour milling was still done with a CNC milling tool.)
    Could you test this process?
You may need to paint the copper surface black to avoid reflections from the laser.

awesome video man! btw im also using the snapmaker 2.0 did you encounter a problem that the pads are not perfect circle?

I'm struggling using the snapmaker to mill a PCB. For example the machine will not read the .nc file, I had to rename it .cnc and after that the machine will not ejecute the job, I had to manually edit all the cnc code, deleting a lot of comments and stuff at the beginning of each file.

Thank you for the video. It helped me get ready for milling my first PCB with the Snapmaker. I did encounter a challenge since my PCB design was not a rectangle as most are. I got some help from someone else online to figure out how to deal with a non rectangular board shape. But in trying to mill the first cnc file I discovered that my platform was not perfectly flat. In your video you used a piece of wood that you flattened out. You said you created a job in Luban to flatten it. What steps did you use to do that? I'm new to CNC but accomplished with 3D printing, so this is something I'm not familiar with. Can you provide some pointers or links for how to mill the wood flat? Thanks in Advance!

I cannot open the *.nc file in snapmaker. Usb key in machine shows no file, and Luban cant open them as well. Any help?

This link may be helpful in tracking down the cause, but if not it may also be that one of the files on your USB Stick has a character in it's filename that Snapmaker can't parse. I haven't seen that happen on the snapmaker before but it does happen on my other printers fairly often. Hope that helps 🤞

The PCB is of poor quality and I doubt it will work properly. The machine lacks rigidity. Cantilever axle arrangement and long overhang of the cutter. It is not intended for milling. Looking at such videos, it seems that everything is fine, but in fact there are many nuances in board milling. For example, scanning the PCB surface. The machine must be rigid and the spindle must be free of runout, unless you intend to make tracks an inch wide ;-)
