I have one of these American Tomahawks. I am not sure if this is the original manufacturer but it is identical except for the handle pattern and a slightly different grind on the cutting edge. My sheath is very different, but this was about 10+ years ago (before the Cold Steel period of cheap knock offs made in China). They are light, durable, and high quality. I have owned it for at least 10 years or so. Try throwing it at a sheet of plywood/something flat. They used to have some great throwing videos of Peter LaGana. Best of all, they are made in the USA! (Be careful. Hawks are illegal in many states)
Yep. They are super durable. If you are looking for a Tomahawk, this one is well made and super durable. (The only thing that is completely different is the sheath).
@Eric Guetterman I am super glad to see this back in the proper hands. I read somewhere that Cold Steel had absorbed it or bought some rights. That just didn’t seem right to me. I may be wrong about that. I am glad to be wrong, or that CS lost it to the proper company that respects the brand and LaGana. I have a lot of respect for this product.
I get that Cold steel hawks are made in China or some other asian country. But they are made very well. They'e been reviewed many many many times and used a lot by a ton of people and I haven't heard a bad thing about them. They are all under $50 on amazon. Coming sharp or not has never made a difference to me as I like to put my own edge on my tools anyway so the more metal to work with the better.I think yer way off on the price being reasonable. $200+ (including shipping) is pretty high.
I have reviewed the CRKT Chogan, CRKT Kangee, CRKT Rune, Schrade Hawks, SOG T-Hawk, and CS Warhawk, and CS Trench Hawk plus some others I am sure I am forgetting. For the price they are fine and their is nothing wrong with them at their price but you can tell you are getting a much better tool with the Model 1 other tools like it. You will pay for it, but you see it in the steel performance, durability of the handle and head mount, high quality kydex sheath, and more.
The hickory handle model is not great for bushcraft as it it all weapon and breacher. For < $200 it is a quality item and has the RMJ influence. That said, the Estwing hawks are the best made in USA values < $50. The double bit is vicious.
Them were made for busting straps on crates in Vietnam I know that was the intent and small camp chores not for combat but some of us used them for killing and combat but not what they was made for I'm a buddy of Terry best using his tablet watching this people are out of there league when talking about that hawk most of it is bull
Right tool for the job! It's a tactical tool. Not made for woodcraft in any way. Trying to desperately sell something . Sorry but you are talking crap. This is a tactical tool. Using modern material. For collectors buy the woodern handle version. For those who like to play. Buy this. For those in the military, buy this version if RMJ hawks are too much money. If you can carry another additional weight.
Who sells a $300-$400 hawk? I've never seen that, could you please post info. on $300-$400 hawks?....sorry bro, love your vids but this is borderline infomercial/ripoff
@Zane Blaire what else would the purpose of a tomahawk be? It’s meant for chopping wood and self defense in emergency situations... you wanna add a red dot scope to it and a pike on one side with a built in bottle opener and farro rod as well as a built in radio go for it, that way it’s “not only for chopping wood”
Please check out and or review two hawks.net tactical and traditional tomahawks they are American made they have hickory handles and they don’t spend more than 200 bucks and they’re awesome
I bought a Model 1 from ATC to give my lonesome VTAC some company. It has a flat grind compared to the convex grind on the VTAC so I expect it to cut better. I advise against Chicom made hawks because you can't trust it.
Too much money, but its a well designed all around tomahawk and key is the awesome sheath. If you cant carry it as necessary for the intended use then it's not very useful, so that sheath adds a lot of value. Even so, its way too much money, I wont buy it.
@Forrest Little thanks for the reply but I already bought a knife. I ended up getting the civivi elementum in micarta thanks for the suggestion though.
"The tomahawk was born here,in America, by Native Americans" ummm..nope. The originals were called "Francisca"..They were used by the "Franks". (The people who destroyed Rome, AKA The French " .. Been around f 3k years..
Twice the price of the original ATC and didnt even bother to sharpen the beard like the original And get the story correct please. Andy Prisco revived the company in 2000 and supplied thousands to our guys in the early GWOT.
That would be good for midgets I imagine. :) There's far better options for way less money. I had a Vietnam style hawk that I gave away. It was pretty much useless for anything other than assaulting people with and again there's better options for that as well. Cold Steels spike hawk comes to mind and you could buy six of them for less than that baby hawk costs.
As the resident N8V American in the group, this is not a tomahawk, it's a throwing toy and maybe a garden hoe. Why not give a Kubey KU184 a try, I'm interested to see if a D2 steel with kydex sheath and teklok for $48 on amazon is worth it.

I love tomahawks...have a few, but $189 for this one? Kidding? Is it made from gold?
The hickory handle model is not great for bushcraft as it it all weapon and breacher. For < $200 it is a quality item and has the RMJ influence. That said, the Estwing hawks are the best made in USA values < $50. The double bit is vicious.
💚💚💚
Dope
Who sells a $300-$400 hawk? I've never seen that, could you please post info. on $300-$400 hawks?....sorry bro, love your vids but this is borderline infomercial/ripoff
It’s not hard to look on google. There’s plenty of them. Not everyone is as cheap as you,
RMJ
I’d like to see the cold steel frontier tomahawk get reviewed all these tactical hawks are not practical for outdoor more like cheesy
Ive a Hayes hawk i think it has a better profile also two hawks are better imo
Too much money, but its a well designed all around tomahawk and key is the awesome sheath. If you cant carry it as necessary for the intended use then it's not very useful, so that sheath adds a lot of value. Even so, its way too much money, I wont buy it.
Hey is there any knives for 50 dollars anyone in this comment section would recommend? Folding of fixed.
@Forrest Little thanks for the reply but I already bought a knife. I ended up getting the civivi elementum in micarta thanks for the suggestion though.
@Forrest Little I’ve been thinking about getting a cold steel but now that they’ve sold the company I’m gonna hold off.
@Forrest Little yeah I might have to
Sorry. The #1 isn't very impressive, in my opinion. Give it a pass, thanks.
$189 is to much....my cold steel frontier hawk was 20 bucks and blows that out the water.
Ive just won one in a raffle......
It’s a tactical tool made for breaching and light chopping, this is not some cheap Chinese steel
"The tomahawk was born here,in America, by Native Americans" ummm..nope. The originals were called "Francisca"..They were used by the "Franks". (The people who destroyed Rome, AKA The French " .. Been around f 3k years..
Twice the price of the original ATC and didnt even bother to sharpen the beard like the original
And get the story correct please. Andy Prisco revived the company in 2000 and supplied thousands to our guys in the early GWOT.
That is why too much money. I can have a hand made Hawk for less than half.
with the handle as durable and sheath as good?
That would be good for midgets I imagine. :)
There's far better options for way less money.
RIP to all the other old American Tomahawk models. The Sibert and Emerson models are now collector items.
Yes go try find it for 48 dollars better than this. 🤣
Yes go try find it for 48 dollars better than this. 🤣
not sure about this guys pastor / salesman inflection.
I clicked because it's not made in china.
$189.00 for that price they keep it .
It’s fine if you want a cheap knock off from China. Me, I’m USA. It’s worth the money.
@@grumpyoldwizard You can get a small Estwing hatchet for $40 and do the same thing , and have more uses . I buy american too , but I refuse to pay for hype .
@Eric Guetterman Oh , well that changes everything , I didn't know we were at war . Lol , a cool and his money soon part .
@Eric Guetterman a fool and his money soon part , Google was trying to help me to not offend anyone .
@HOSTILE MGTOW I agree .
Arron. I think there just to proud of there product ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
is it really useful to knock down trees for your demonstration? don't have enough dead wood around you? do you think there are too many trees left on our planet? respect nature !
Ever heard of standing dead trees
The tree was already dead 💀
@@gideonstactical did you take his pulse? 😉
Way overpriced!!!!!!
Hope you read this. With your American tomahawk. It wasn't enough to steal their land, and call it your own, but now you steal their tomahawk, and call it american. Do you see the irony.
